Welcome to the Familiar Of The Month webpage
This site and activity are part of the Charmed Ones Guild.
Each month neopets belonging to active guild members are selected as nominees for FOTM. The pet with the most votes becomes Familiar Of The Month. Members vote for their favourite pet among the nominees by comparing webpages and pet-lookups. FOTM is now up and running again! (It was unfortunately on hiatus for sometime due to lack of participation and some busyness on my part.) The entry requirements have recently been revised. Therefore I recomend you read through the entire page before entering. You can view the current Familiar Of The Month uisng the links below:

How To Vote:
Send a neomail to: neo65629
By the next deadline: 30th April inclusive.
Make the subject: FOTM
and write something like: 'I vote for "PETS NAME"'
You can only vote for pets listed on the nominees page of this site.
Each guild member has one vote.
(That means can vote from only one account.)
If your guild rank is Prue, Piper, Phoebe or Paige your 1 vote is worth 2 votes for that pet.
You cannot vote for your own pet.

How to Enter:
Next deadline: 25th April 2007
If you would like to enter FOTM please neomail neo65629 after you have read EVERYTHING below and have at least began work on your pets pages. Everything will need to be complete by the deadline.
If there are not enough successfull nominee entries additional pets may be chosen from searching active guild members. You can also neomail if you have seen another guild member with an ideal candidate for FOTM.
The rules (summarised):
1) You need to put work into your pets webpage.
2) You need to put work into your pets lookup.
3) Your content should be centered around your neopet, use your imagination and give your neopet character.
4) Your writen and graphical work must be neopets or Charmed related ..or both.
5) If your pet is sucessfully nominated you must not change anything once voting begins.
6) If you win please be prepared to leave your work up for at least a month for other guild members to admire ;)
How you go about meeting requirements 1 to 4 is pretty much up to you but ideally pets that meet some/most of the following suggestions will be selected. If it looks like you have not made much effort your entry will not be successfull.
Webpages and Pet Lookups:
Include written content about your pet on his or her Webpage. It is quite easy to make up a personality/character for them and some likes and dislikes etc.
Decorate your pet's webpage with Charmed pictures, background, graphics etc that you have made yourself or found on the guild's graphics site. Alternatively you may use neopets related graphics.
Write a paragraph about your neopet on his or her lookup.
Decorate your pets lookup, with either a Charmed theme or your own original neopets related theme.
Link back to the FOTM site. You can use one of the banners in the links section, a text link or create your own banner to match your entry.
Other Suggestions :
You may include other content on the webpage, preferably about Charmed. But it is aceptable for you to write about other things you have an interest in.
It might be nice to include artwork on your pets webpage or lookup. If art is your weekest point you dont have too - you can concentrate on your writing skills instead.
You could write a story about your pet (the familiar) and put it on its webpage.
Or write a poem that your pet features in or has "written" about his or her petpet.
NOTES:
I will decide which pets are successfully put up as candidates for fotm, out of the nominations received. Pets will only be rejected if it looks like you have made very little effort or if I have too many nominees. You can still make an effort with out using elaborate html, css and graphics skills.
If you miss one deadline your pet will be entered the following month. Therefore you are welcome to neomail entries at any time.
If you suggest some one elses pet as a nominee for FOTM the Owner will be notified.
Next months nominees should be finalised around April 25th.
As mentioned above: If your pet becomes our Familiar Of The Month you will be expected to keep your entry webpage and pet-lookup for one month. - Winners cannot enter fotm again the following month to help give other members a chance to win. - You may try to enter a new webpage design or a different neopet after this.
The FOTM re-entry ban is short due to the lack of nominees in the past. If you want to see more neopets winning fotm enter your neopet ;) and or assist in my search for potential nominees.
Recent Changes:
Entry pictures are no longer required/accepted.
Only the actual FOTM will be anounced from now on.
(Ie: There will not be a 2nd place runner up. This is the way I originally wanted to go about it as FOTM is suposed to be the pet equivalent of WOTM a special honor for your neopet, it may resemble a competition but it is suposed to be that bit more special. This also means, when we have only a few nominees it is less of a problem. So nominees, now either become FOTM or they do not :P just as it is with WOTM.)
