You want to start sniping but don't know how?
Aiming for a paint brush for your pet,
something for your gallery or even to get a bit more np.
Then read ahead for a guide to sniping.
Sniping is all about finding a cheap item and then selling for a profit.
First of all you need to know where the Shop Wiz is.
Go to shops, then click the little wizard's hat shown in the picture above.
This is the Shop Wizard or SW.
It can be used to find quest items or things you just want.
You find the cheapest price then buy.
If you keep trying,you will reach your goal in no time.
Decide which item you would like to search for.
If you are starting out try something easy to search for.
Codestones are cheap and people win and find them all the time.
Other good items that are often snipe-able are:
Map Pieces
Dubloons
Bottled Faeries
and Neggs.
Also random items like petpets.
Type the name of your item in the top box,
if you know the full name of the item write that.
Make sure you are spelling the item correct.
Then click 'identical to my phrase' and search.
If you want to search a group of items
like codestones then type 'codestone' in to the top
box and click 'containing my phrase'.
It will then search for all items with the word 'codestone' in it.
This is good so you can find good deals on all codestones
and wont have to go back to search for another.
But it means that the SW will more than likely search
for 'codestone (TCG)'.
Tcg's are a hard to sell (HTS) item
and shouldn't be bought unless really cheap
and you think you will be able to gain profit from.
Once you have decided what you want to search for
on the wiz press the search button.
You will know be shown a list of shops,
from cheapest to dearest.
It's the cheapest you need to look at,
you should know the average prices of items,
but by looking at the other prices it shows,
you will also be able to tell if you are
getting a good deal.
In the picture above,there is no good snipe,
so you should refresh again.
You can refresh either by clicking the refreshing
button on your browser (pictured above) or
press F5 on your keyboard
It will then bring up a wind*w with
2 options 'ok' and 'cancel' click ok
or just press return.
You will now see the list of shops again
with different results.
The picture above shows a cheap item,
with a chance of over 5,000np profit.
This is the type of item you should
try and get.
Click the name of the shop to enter,
you have to be fast.
When you are in the shop the item you are
searching for will be shown at the top of the page,
in this case its a codestone. If the item is still
there you will see the picture. If not you will see
item not found'
This means that someone else bought the item
before you and you should search again.
If you do see the picture still there,
click on it fast and a pop-up box will
come up asking you if you are you sure that
you want to buy the item,click ok fast.
If you see the above picture,
you have successfully bought the item.
If you see the picture above,
it means someone else has bought the item,
try and search again.

Super Shop Wiz (SSW)
You can only use the SSW if you are a
Premium member on Neopets.
To put the SSW onto your profile follow these screenshots.
Click on the link that says 'Portal Preferences', shown in
the green box below.
A new window will pop up, look on the side and you should see..
Click on 'Home Page', shown in the green box above.
Look right to see a scroll box, click on it to see a list of
options. Look for 'Super Wiz', shown below, click on it.
Click on 'Add Module', shown above. The Super Wiz will now
be added to the list below. If you want it at the top of
your portal click on 'Super Wiz' and click the 'Up' button
until you have it where you want, then click 'Save', refresh
your portal to see the Super Wiz.
The differences between the SW and SSW are:
The SW searches in groups of shops and will show the
cheapest items out of those groups,
The SSW searches ALL shops on neopets and will
give you the cheapest items in one go.
Which means you need to refresh more on the
SW to find the cheapest price,but the SSW
will show you the cheapest in the first refresh.
To make sniping fair to Non-Premium users,you can't search for
Paintbrushes
Nerkmids
Secret Lab maps
Transmogrification Potions
Even though the SSW shows the cheapest items in one
refresh,people without the SSW can still beat
Premium members to the item.
The above picture is the SSW,it can be found in your
Portal Preferences', then 'Home Page' and you
will find it in the drop down list of your modules.
It is best to put the SSW at the top of your Portal,
so you won't have to scroll down.
If you are serious about sniping you can also
remove everything else from your portal and just
have the SSW,it will make it faster to load.
Sniping on the SSW is the same as sniping on the SW,
type the name of the item you want to snipe for in
the top box,click either 'containing my phrase'
to search for group items or 'identical to my phrase'
to search for the exact words you typed in,
then press search.
Again you will see a list of shops for the item you searched
for,remember the SSW shows the cheapest items in
the 1st search, so refreshing again may not be needed
depending on the item you are seaching for,
if you are searching for codestones,
then refreshing again will probarly show other shops.
The above picture shows no snipes,
so you can either refresh or search for other items.
The above picture shows a snipe, click the shop fast
and try and get the item. You will again either see
item not found' which means the item has been bought.
Or you will see the item,then click fast to buy it.
SW Banned?
If you search too much on the SW it
will ban you from searching.
You will see this message.
Whoa there, too many searches!
I am too busy right now, please come back
in about 20 minutes and I can help you out.'
You ban will always end when the new hour
starts ':00' it will say 10,20,30,40 mins but
all will mean until the end of the hour.
With the SW, you should be able to search for the
whole hour without getting banned.
Then when the new hour starts it will all be
reset and you can continue sniping without fear
of getting banned.
Banning on the SSW.
Banning happens alot faster on the SSW than it
does on the SW.
This is to make it fair to Non-Premium people.
How many searches can you get before you are banned?
No really knows,sometimes you get 5 searches on the
SSW,sometimes 20,sometimes more.
But the SSW does give far less than the SW.
If you use the SW first then the SSW in the same hour,
you are most likely going to get banned within 5 searches.
What is wizing Hour and how can you find it?
Wizing Hour is a board on premium main hall boards.
It was made when SSW first started,for people to post
what good items they get and to get help sniping,
it is also a place to wait and chat while you are
banned from the SW or SSW.
Why is it called the Wizing Hour?
People will give you many many reasons why it is called
the 'Wizing Hour', but basically it is named The Wizing Hour
beacuse its the wiz and you get banned until the end
of the hour,so when a new hour begins you can start
sniping again.
Some people feel it should be Wizzing instead and others
compromise by spelling it Wiz(z)ing!
Anyone can join in on the boards,although you do
have to be premium other than that, everyone is welcome,
there is a big group of us that chat there.
We are all friends, we will help you learn how to snipe but
be nice as these people dont have to help.
The WH hour group has unfortunately split up..While we
remain good friends and some of us will remain on the board
others have decided to leave premium.
