Step 10 - the astronomy club

BREAKING NEWS - At 6:38pm on the 25th March TNT finally allowed us to join the astronomy! Click Here to Join!

Go to the Altadorian Archives - Notice that the image has changed and we can now click the Astronomy flyer (see below):

Click on the middle leaflet (pink arrow above) or click here.

You will now be taken to the Astrology Club, with a Blumaroo and the option to join the Astronomy Club:

You look at the flyer on the bulletin board. It seems to be advertising an Astronomy Club!

"Join the Astronomy Club! With your very own telescope, learn to search the heavens for interesting cosmological phenomena, see ancient nebulae, and identify constellations!"

"Hi! We'd be glad to have you in our club!"

The president of the Astronomy Club welcomes you warmly. "Our Astronomy Club is growing by the day! Apparently we're the only club in Altador that's actually accepting new members at the moment."

Click this button!

You will now find yourself inside the astronomy club, which will read:

The Astronomy Club is a place where Neopians can learn all about the cosmos. Stars, planets, comets, asteroids, constellations, nebulae... they're all out there waiting to be discovered.

The president of the Astronomy Club waves as you enter the astronomy lab. "Hey, thanks for coming! We're really happy you joined the club. In fact, as a new member, we've got a special gift for you..."

"...your very own telescope! It's just a basic model, but it will let you look up at the stars. You'll just have to find somewhere reasonably high-altitude to use it."

Wow - we got a FREE Telescope!

Now head over to Fineus (The Head Archivist) and see what he has to say!

Fineus Says:

The archivist says, "Ah, I see you've joined the Astronomy Club. Is there more excitement to be found than in observing the heavens, and mapping the intricate patterns of the cosmos?"

Now head back to the janitor in the HoH to see what he says!

The Janitor says:

The janitor says, "Hm, so you joined an Astronomy Club, eh? That sounds like fun. I wish I had the time to join a club."

Very peculiar...Lets move on...

step 11 - the observatory

Go back to the observatory. Here you are now able to click on the telescope holder in the middle of the room (see below):

Once you have clicked the telescope stand, you will be taken to this page:

"You place your telescope onto the mount, and aim it up at the heavens. Remarkable!"

There should be a message telling you your telescope is setting up!

Wait for a few moments until your telescope has fully loaded. Once it is fully loaded it should look like this:

There is also a large clickable button at the top left hand side of our screen which gives us options:

This is your pointer. You can use this to select stars by hovering over them. This also allows you to connect your stars! Select 'Connect Stars' from the scroll menu to use this!
This is your hand pointer. You select this by choosing 'Add Star' on the scroll menu! It allows you to highlight all of the stars you want by hovering over them and clicking. Once selected they will turn purple!
This is your eraser. You can select this by choosing 'Delete Star' from the scroll menu. To delete a star just hover over it and click.

Once you have selected 6 stars a button will pop out on the bottom left hand side that says Submit:

At the moment we are only allowed to submit constellations made up of 6 stars! We are not yet sure what this means although there are a lot of theories flying around!

This is as far as we have come so far! Read our Star Map Guide below...

Step 13 - The Clouds and the Second Constellation

On the 29th March Neopets added a new link to the Altador Main Map. First click on the cloud on the top right hand corner (as shown below):

You will now be taken into the clouds...and should see the below image:

Click on the gap in the clouds (Purple Arrow above)!

The image will transform into this (Click HERE for a direct link):

The gaps between the clouds seem to have formed themselves into an odd pattern.

If we match the image above with one of our constellations we will find that it is Psellia - The Dreamer:

Now head over to Fineus the Lenny at the Altadorian Archives. He will now comment on what you have found and you are now ready to find the Constellation in your telescope viewer.

Ok - so now you should be at your telescope viewer. I found that this constellation was a little trickier to find than the first one. Here are some of my own screenshots:

Notice the size of the constellation and the orientation (the angle). It should be the same on your telescope...just keep trying (that's what I did) until you find it!

To make it easier try using 'Darkfires Ye Olde Star Mapper' (www.boomspeed.com/zaniam/theSky.html). For a guide on how to get your get_star data click HERE.

Once you have found your constellation, head over to view the gems in the ceiling above 'Psellia - The Dreamer' in the Hall of Heroes. They should now look like this:

Now go and visit the Archivist Lenny. He will now say:

The archivist says, "Ah, you found another constellation! Most excellent. And another chapter has appeared in the Book of Ages! This one seems to concern Psellia, also known as the Dreamer."

The archivist examines some notes on his desk. "I've been thinking about what's going on. Why these clues are revealing themselves to someone such as yourself. And why this did not happen until after the Darkest Faerie was defeated, and her grip on Altador broken." He shakes his head. "It makes sense, intuitively, but I don't know what's going on. I've been looking through the Archives, trying to find something in our histories that could explain this, but I've been having trouble even finding the histories in all this mess." He shakes his head. "I'll get this place cleaned up one day, I swear..."

There are now also 3 new pages to read in the Book of Ages about Psellia - The Dreamer. They read:

Though she lacks the worldwide fame of other Neopian faeries, Psellia is well known and revered for her kindness in Altador. She always does her best to encourage others to achieve and is always there to catch them if they stumble in their lives. A rather inspirational figure, Psellia is known throughout Altador as "the Dreamer."

One day, long before the founding of Altador, Psellia was relaxing on the clouds of Faerieland when a Blumaroo bounced too close to the edge of a cloud and slipped off. Psellia watched in horror as the Blumaroo plunged toward the sea far below.

She knew the poor creature would not survive the fall, so she leapt off the cloud and darted downward, fluttering her wings as fast as they could go.

The turbulent sea grew closer and closer, and Psellia could see the Blumaroo's terrified eyes as he desperately flailed his arms toward her. Though her muscles burned with the effort of flying faster than she ever had, the air faerie was determined to catch the falling Neopet before it was too late.

Using the last of her strength, Psellia let loose an amazing burst of speed that only an air faerie could manage and grasped the Blumaroo's outstretched hand. With his paw firmly in her grip, Psellia tried to slow their fall, straining at the air until they landed in the ocean with an almost delicate splash. With the last of her energy, Psellia swam to a nearby shore, dragging the Blumaroo safely onto dry land, where they could recover.

This heroic tale spread quickly, and soon thereafter Altador requested that Psellia join him in forming the Kingdom of Altador

step 14 - the first to rise

To find the next constellation (released on the 30th of March) you must now head back to the Tomb from the first constellation:

Click on the building in the bottom left hand corner (Pink Arrow) or click HERE

You will now be taken toThe Restive Tomb again. You need to click the BOTTOM LEFT hand side, in the very corner:

Click where the white arrow is above!

Alternatively you can highlight the text above the tomb and press Tab 3 times until you see a link like this: (http://www.neopets.com/altador/tomb.phtml?acvhv=c31fbcbf71f5a4a3433e08d9606df80e) at the bottom bar of your browser. Then click Enter .

You should now see a 'breathtaking view of Altador:

You turn around and see a breathtaking view of Altador. The sun, low on the horizon, seems to be shining through the tower of the Hall of Heroes.

Now we need to head over to the Hall of Heroes for a closer look. Once inside the Hall of Heroes click on Sasha - The Dancer (The Cybunny on the left of King Altador).

Now click on the window behind the statue. You should now see a view of a park outside the Hall of heroes with sunlight streaming down.

Click on the circles of light (White Arrow Above). You only need to click 1!

As with the other constellations we will now see a pattern (constellation):

The spots of sunlight seem to be forming some kind of pattern on the road...

This constellation, even though it looks like The Dancer, is the First To Rise:

You must now go back and speak to the Archivist Lenny again. He will have something interesting to say.

Now you need to head over to your Telescope Viewer and find your new constellation. Notice that there is a note at the bottom of your Telescope Viewer that reads:

Note: Due to stellar drift, some star positions may change.

I found that this constellation was quite tricky to find, but there is a great new peice of software that will find your constellations for you. Click here to find out how.

Here is what my constellation looked like when I found it:

Use the guides HERE to help you find your constellation!

Go back and see the Archivist Lenny. He will now say:

The archivist says, "Ah, Siyana. The First to Rise, as she is called. How fitting that her constellation should be revealed by the rising sun." He chuckles. "I'm afraid I haven't much more to tell you about why this is all happening, though perhaps we can learn from what I haven't found. You see, I've gone through the entire archives twice -- and I can't find a single history book. I can't fathom there being thieves in Altador interested solely in history books, though..." He shakes his head. "But I'll keep looking, and see what I can find."

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here."

Click on the link at the end - You will be taken to a list of all of your previous clues:

The archivist draws a piece of note paper from the pile on his desk. "Here I've arranged all the clues you've found so far. Feel free to examine this list at any time if you want to see the clues."

WOW - The lenny has put all of our clues in one place. Thanks Fineus!!

Don't forget! There is now also another chapter in The Book of Ages about The First To Rise. Click HERE to read it!

Now head over to the Astronomy Club. They will now say:

The Astronomy Club members once again cheer as you enter the room. The president walks up, a smile plastered across his face. "Gosh, it's really great how you're finding all these constellations so fast. I really wish I knew how you did it." The smile is not in his eyes, though.

Nevertheless, he withdraws a small item from his robes. "Well, uh, anyway... I suppose you should have this, now that you're obviously a full-fledged astronomer."

step 15 - the farmer

TNT released the next part of the plot on the 4th of April. A new link was added to the Altador Main map:

Go to the Altador Main Map and click on the small farm in the top right hand corner (highlighted below):

You will be taken to The Old Follies Farm:

This is one of Altador's oldest farms, owned by Farmer Follies and his family.

Farmer Follies eyes you as you approach. "Well howdy there," he says. "You're from the city, eh? I've got a ninth cousin there, works as a janitor, maybe you know him."

Click on the windmill door! (see the red arrow above). You will be taken inside the windmill:

This old windmill is how Farmer Follies turns wheat into grain.

Click on the lever!

This old windmill is how Farmer Follies turns wheat into grain.

You try to force the windmill's blades to turn, in an attempt to blow excess wheat away from the field.

Farmer Follies runs into the windmill, shouting at you. "WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!" He slaps your hand away from the windmill machinery.

Click on the window in the picture (on the right)! You will look out of the window:

Click on one of the piles of hay (any) and a new pattern will appear:

The wheat field seems to have revealed a strange pattern among its stalks...

We now have the pattern for the Farmer Constellation! Let's move on...

Now go and visit the Archivist Lenny.

The archivist says, "A clue revealing itself in a pattern of wheat in a field? Remarkable! There must be strong magics afoot indeed, if these clues can be found in such subtle and unexpected places."

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here."

Now go to your telescope viewer to find your constellation. If you need help with finding your constellation please read our Star Mapper Guide.

Here is a view of my Farmer Constellation:

Once you have found your correct constellation go back and visit The Archivist Lenny again.

The archivist says, "Ah, yes, a constellation representing Florin, the great Farmer of Altador. Truly, our land has flourished because of his wise oversight in bringing us foodstuffs."

He turns away and coughs gently. "Um... it seems that I'm still having trouble finding any history books in the Archives. I'm beginning to suspect that some magic might be involved. But such magics do not bear the stain of the Darkest Faerie; I do not believe the missing history books are her doing. I think I shall investigate and see if any other history books can be found within Altador. The Archives are not the only store of knowledge here -- merely the largest, and most impressive!"

The archivist clears his throat. "Oh, by the way, if you want to see all your previous clues collected into one place, I've made up a list for you here."

Remember - you can click on the link in Fineus's (The Lenny's) text and it will take you to all of your clues so far!!

There has also been a new chapter added to the Book of Ages about The Farmer. The new chapter reads:

CHAPTER 4 - The Farmer

Not everyone who helped found Altador was a magical faerie, capable of using their natural gifts to help others. In fact, one of the most notable of all the founders was a simple farmer with a good heart...

Florin had lived his whole life on a small farm. Each day he rise with the sun, to tend his crops and feed the Petpets he raised on his farm. Though Florin worked hard from dawn to dusk, he greatly enjoyed his simple life.

One day, while going into town to buy more Petpet feed, Florin noticed a group of farmers talking. Apparently, some strange blight was afflicting their crops, and unless something was done, a whole season of food would be lost.

Florin asked one of the farmers to show him one of these sick plants. The farmer led Florin to his nearby field, a third of which had been consumed by some terrible disease that had turned the plants black.

Florin had spent much of his life studying plants. Though his own crops were unaffected, he spent days trudging through dangerous woods, looking for a rare plant that few knew existed.

Days later, as the villagers were just about ready to give up hope, Florin returned, carrying a satchel that was filled with a strange herb they had never seen before. The Kacheek quickly ground up the dry herbs and mixed them into a large trough of water. He then instructed the other farmers to take a bucket and pour the water onto their afflicted plants. Within days, the blight had vanished, and though Florin's own crops wilted from neglect, the villagers were more than happy to share their crops with him.

Tales of his selfless deed soon reached others, and that is how Florin came to meet King Altador and become the future overseer of the kingdom's plentiful farms.

Now go and check the gemstones in the ceiling above Florin - The Farmer in the Hall of Heroes. (He is the statue inbetween Kelland, the Thief and Torakor, the Gladiator.) The gemstones should now look like this:

Now nip over and visit the Janitor to see what he has to say:

The janitor says, "It sure is interesting watching those lights on the ceiling light up. What are you getting up to in that observatory, anyway?"

The last thing to do is visit The Astronomy Club.

The Astronomy Club members greet you warmly as you enter the room... except the club president, who seems a little upset. "Okay, we get it, you're a great astronomer. I mean, four constellations? So quickly? That's just... Are you sure you aren't... cheating, somehow? How could you know so much about the sky, when we've lived here all our lives and never been able to find any constellations?" he grumps.

That's it so far - please check out some of the new clues found here.

The changes in the Darkest Faerie Statue.

On the 2nd of April gelerts_rock_hard kindly sent me an neomail alerting me to the fact that The Darkest Faerie's statue was changing and that the flames in her hands were getting bigger. So of course I checked this out and found that it is true.

What could this mean - only time will tell :D

star map guide

There has been a lot of talk about Star Maps throughout the neoboards and elsewhere, so I would just like to clear some things up below!

  • When we talk about 'Star Maps' we mean the image you can see through your telescope. It is a map of the stars @_@
  • Everyone's star map is different! You cannot use somebody else's coordinates.
  • Your star map is generated by a special file called the get_star file. This file can be found here: http://www.neopets.com/altador/astro.phtml?get_star_data=1
  • This file shows the exact coordinates of your stars, and theire colors.

The graph below is a representation of what we see when we look at our map:

The page http://www.neopets.com/altador/astro.phtml?get_star_data=1 gives us all the coordinates that are individual to our own Altadorian sky. Each star on our sky is shown by something a coordinate like (123,-50,1)

For example, with the numbers in this order:

123: location along the x-axis
-50: location along the y-axis
1: color of the star (1 through 6)

The star colors are:

1. Small White
2. Yellow
3. Light Blue
4. Red/Pink
5. Purple
6. Large White

The dark blue stars are not clickable and do not appear as coordinates (they are just a repeating background!)

Using Darkfires 'Ye Olde Star Mapper

To help us find our constellation Darkfire (from the PPT Forums) created a fantastic little piece of software for us to use calledYe Olde Star Mapper. Here is a quick guide to what to do:

  • Go to this link http:// www. boomspeed. com / zaniam / theSky.html (without spaces). Follow the instructions written at the top of that page.
  • Get your get_star data by clicking here.
  • Paste (Ctrl V) your get_star data into the white box and click either 100% or 50%.
  • If you follow the guide on the page you sill be able to work the Star Mapper.

Using Stoodder's Constellation Finder

Stooder (from the PPT Forums) has created a great piece of software too that will find ALL of your constellations for you. Here is how:

  • Go to this link: http : // ricall . -blocked- . com / findconst.php ? finddata=true (without the spaces)
  • Paste (Ctrl V) your get_star data into the text box.
  • Click submit Query.
  • Amazingly the software will find all of your constellations for you. The one's that can be found now are in green and the ones that can be found later are in green.

All you have to do now is go to your telescope viewer and find the coordinates from the constellation you are looking for!

Step 12 - The Restive Tomb

On the 28th March Neopets added a new link to the Altador Main Map:

Click on the building in the bottom left hand corner (Pink Arrow) or click HERE

You will now be taken toThe Restive Tomb:

This tomb stands silent and grave, watching over Altador from high atop a cliff.

Click on the black dots on the door! (Pink Arrow Above)

The image will change to this:

How strange. There seems to be some kind of pattern in the stonework on the front of the tomb doors. What could it mean?

Look! If you look at the white lines and dots - this looks very familiour:

We now believe that we are looking for the Darkest Faerie's Constellation - The Sleeper with our Telescope!

Go to your telescope and keep looking for the Sleeper Constallation! You will find it - it isn't very hard at all.

Here is what happened when I found it:

and then

After you have found your constallation, go and visit Fineus the Head Archivist:

The archivist says, "Extraordinary! You've identified a constellation based on the..." He looks around suspiciously, and speaks low. "On the Darkest Faerie? Her eyes, in fact? This... how strange." He stops for a second, staring blankly. "You know, I'm having the oddest feeling, like this is familiar. There's something on the tip of my brain, some piece of information... what is it?" He shakes his head. "I just can't figure it out. Well, perhaps there are other constellations to be found."

The archivist shuffles over to the Book of Ages and flips it open. "Something else has happened, however, and it might be connected to your discovery of the constellation. A few more pages of the book have magically filled themselves in! It tells a story about the Darkest Faerie herself... from before. Before she turned evil, and betrayed us."

Now click on the Book of Ages (marked in white above):

Pages 4 and 5

Pages 6 and 7

The Text Reads:

CHAPTER 1 The Sleeper

Just as a hero must perform a heroic deed before he can be named as such, a villain must also do something terrible in order to earn such a title. The Betrayer was not always an evil being and was once even respected for her deeds. Long before the Great Betrayal, (in fact, before the founding of Altador), she earned her place among the twelve Founders by saving the life of King Altador himself.

A terrible menace was plaguing a peaceful farmland, and a hunter (the future king of Altador) journeyed forth to slay the beast. He tracked it back to its lair in a cave at the base of a mountain and there cornered it. Though the beast roared viciously, Altador did not falter.

Rather, he notched an arrow and let it fly, striking the beast squarely in the head. Even as the vile creature slumped to the ground, another of its kind snuck up on the unsuspecting Lupe. The noble hunter would have fallen then and there if not for a purple blast of magic. Startled, Altador spun around, just in time to see the other creature collapse. There, standing behind it, was a dark faerie... the Betrayer.

Altador thanked her graciously for saving his life. He had never witnessed such compassion on the part of a dark faerie before, so he bid her to return with him to his village, where they would feast and be praised as heroes.

Each carried the head of the beast they had slain to the village, and a grand celebration was held long into the night. Altador, realising what a unique ally he had acquired, asked her to stay and join him and his companions in fulfilling a dream he had of founding a great city. The Betrayer agreed, and though she would ultimately help to build the kingdom's august capital and serve the council well, nothing can make up for her terrible betrayal. She broke the king's heart, for no sword strikes as deep as the one wielded by a friend....

Now go and visit the Astronomy Club. They will say:

The Astronomy Club members crowd around you as you enter. "Wow! You discovered a new constellation! That's really awesome, so soon after joining!" They cheer and celebrate, assuring you that you're destined to be one of the greatest astronomers in Altador, if not all Neopia.

Now head over to the Hall of Heroes and click on The Darkest Faerie Statue. Click at the top of the picture to view her gems and you will see:

This page will be updated constantly with new steps as they happen...please keep checking back :D

Tormund and Roberta must find the charm in Werelupe Woods and bring it back to Illusen for help into Meridell.

Villians

The Darkest Faerie was one of the 12 protectors of Altador. She was punished for her crimes by Queen Fyora by being turned to stone and hidden in the ruins of Maraqua. Now, she has returned after 1000 years, and seeks revenge on Fyora. However, she could not reach Altador for some reason, and decided to attack the nearby kingdom of Meridell. Her constellation used to be The Sleeper.
The Dark Faerie Sisters are the Darkest Faerie's elite minions. They are known as Vanity, Malice, and Spite. They appear when the Darkest Faerie took over Meridell Castle. They are invulnerable to any kind of attack. That makes them completly invincible to Tormund when he tries attacking them. The only way to hurt them was when Roberta drained their invulnerability from them with Fyora's Wand. Tor and Roberta fight them in the Kings Chambers in Meridell Castle. Vanity has the braided hair, Malice has long hair, and Spite has two pigtails.
The WereLupe King is not an exact minion of the Darkest Faerie, but his land is one of the only lands to be unaffected by the Darkest Faerie's magic. He is the biggest of all the WereLupes and carries a boomerang-like weapon which he used against Tor. He sends Gnarfas to deal with Tor, and then is defeated by Tor in Werelupe Woods. He has a long rivalry with Illusen the Earth Faerie for control of her land.
The Gelert Assassin is one of her most cunning minions. She sent him after Tor and Roberta to stop them from trying to free Meridell. He fights several times with the two heroes, but always leaves to reappear and mess something else up for them. He fights Tor and Roberta outside Brightvale, but is ended by the Brightvale guards rushing in. He finally fights them in Illusen's Glade when they are returning the faerie's charm.
?
Ixi Raider Chief is the leader of the Ixi invaders of Cogham Village. He is aware of Meridell's past interferences. When his Ixi soldiers invade Cogham, only Tormund arrives to deal with them. The Cheiften carries a double ended axe, which means he has a stick with an axe on both ends. He uses that axe to control fire type attacks. He is defeated by Tor and returns when his troops kidnapped the townsfolk and took them to the abandoned mines. The town is under the Darkest Faerie's powers then.

Plot FAQ

What is a Plot?

A plot is something that Neopets does from time to time! It is a storyline that we can follow by finding clues around the site.

Will this plot be a war?

The Neopian Times Issue 231 read: "There will be something very minor accompanying Altador (we were just as worn out by the LDP as you were!), but there will NOT, we repeat, NOT be a war. Please head over to the Battledome board if you'd like to complain. ;)" So the answer is NO.

Does this guide work?

Yes - many many people have used this guide and it has worked! If it did not work for you please go back over all the steps and try again.

Other guides have more steps, why havn't you?

I will only add steps that have been directly linked to the Altadorian Plot. A lot of steps are theory only and some are from older plots!

Why have you made this guide?

Well - I love these plots! I followed the Mystery Island Plot to the end and won a great prize. When I make a guide it helps me to keep 100% up to date with all of the details and steps.

Will I get anything at the end?

In previous plots there have been great prizes for those who have taken part. You must finish the plot to the end and be one of a certain number. When I was one of the first 10000 to solve the Mystery Island Plot I got a Tiki Armour which sold for 800000np.

I am really stuck - will you help?

Sorry but I am too busy to help everyone individually! I have recieved so many neomails asking for help that they could have read in my guide. Please follow all of the steps carefully and if it doesn't work - try again!!
