Request F.A.Q
Here are some frequently asked questions regarding
TLB's requesting service. If you have any other questions,
feel free to
send me a neomail and I'd be happy to answer any inquiries.
GENERAL QUESTIONS
If requests are open, can I send in a request for another person?
No. Whoever is using the graphic/layout must be the one to send the request in. If you happen to request for someone else, the image/layout
will be deleted and the person must "claim" it again. This is to keep things fair for everyone.
Do you offer (insert type of graphic or layout here) requests?
Unless the type of request is listed in the links below, I don't offer it. While I do offer petpage layout
requests, I don't offer any other type of layout (guild, shop, gallery, userlookup, etc).
Should I read the rules every time I request or only the first time?
Absolutely. The rules are constantly updated (almost on a weekly basis). Whether it's your first
time sending in a request or your 20th, please read the rules before sending in your form!
How many times (or items) can I request?
The number of graphics/layouts you can request can be found in the list of rules.
My requests won't fit into one neomail. Can I put them on a petpage for you instead?
For non-layout requests, no. I only accept requests that are sent in by neomail. If your requests
don't fit, then unfortunately, you'll have to delete some of them. If requesting a semi-custom or custom layout,
then feel free to send your request in multiple neomails if it doesn't fit into one (please label it part 1, 2, etc).
Can you re-do my request?
That depends. If you read the rules the first time and the error is my mistake, then yes, I'd be happy to edit your request.
If you want me to edit the graphic itself in any way (i.e. make colours darker, make the font a bit bigger, etc), then I could do that as well.
I would note, however, that if you know what you want your banner or icon to look like, you should
say it in your forms ahead of time. If there's an error and it's your mistake, then no, I won't edit the
request. You'll have to wait at least 7 days for a re-do. The reason here is that you should check and
re-read your forms before sending it in.
If I'm requesting multiple graphics, do I still need to use a form for each one?
Definitely. Please do not simply list them, but copy and paste the forms for each
individual item. For example, if you're requesting four icons, copy and paste the icon request form
four times into your neomail.
Can I send in requests from my main and side account?
No. Because each person is only allowed one request per week, sending a request from your
main and side account is unfair to other requesters.
If I send in my forms when requests are "closed", can't you just hold my requests until they're open again?
No. I don't "hold" requests because this isn't fair for all requesters. Requests are only accepted if
the status is open.
Oops, I forgot the read the rules but I already sent in my request. What happens now?
If you failed to read the rules, I'll neomail back to let you know. There are some consequences
however:
- Your form will be placed on hold until I hear back from you. If you reply after I close requests, I
will ask that you wait until they open again the following week.
- Your request will remain at the end of the waiting list and any new forms I receive will automatically be
pushed ahead of yours. For example, if I received your layout request first but you didn't read the rules,
it'll be placed at the end. If I should happen to receive two other correct forms, yours will not be made since
I generally only make 2 layouts at one time.
- Your finished request will not be accepted for edits. TLB's Guarantee only applies to those who
read the rules correctly the first time.
I read the rules and sent in my form, but why was I rejected anyways?
In extremely rare cases, I will find that a requester has broken the rules after requesting (for example: "If you have sent in a request for a custom layout at any other site, please do not send in a request."; in reality, they requested a other sites as well).
How can I fill out my form so that it's easier for you to follow/understand?
The best thing you can do is provide clear information about what you want your request to
look like. The more details you provide, the easier it is for me to follow them. Here are some "requesting"
tips:
- If you want a non-Neopets related image, you must upload the image onto a petpage and include it in your form.
- If you want a particular image (ex. Neopets image from wallpaper section, background), link to it.
- If you want a particular style of font, be sure to tell me that as well.
- If you want me to focus on a particular part of an image, tell me. When I crop, I look for a suitable focal point but it may be different from what you want.
For example, "Please crop the image so that it's focussed on the red flower on the bottom left corner."
- Always try to include a size for banner requests because you should know this type of information ahead of time. If you're requesting a banner for
a specific layout, include the URL so I can size it myself.
- Include important links. For example, if you want me to follow the colour scheme of your petpage, include that link so that I don't have to go on a hunt to find it.
LAYOUTS
How often will custom layout requests be open?
In short, not that often. Fully custom layout requests were never meant to be added to TLB so it's sort of like
an "extra". The
semi-custom requests will be open much more often.
Can you make my custom layout similar to this other one you made?
In general, I'll try to stay away from copying one of my previous layout styles too much since a custom
layout is supposed to be, well, custom.
Will I be able to see the custom layout before pick-up?
Yes! After the design is finished, it'll be posted for your approval. If any edits need to be made, we
can work it out then and there. Only after you're completely happy with it will I start coding.
Can you help me with my coding?
If you neomail me and ask for coding help, I'll reply with one word: depends.
If you need help with coding, include your problem in your neomail. I strongly suggest you check
the following sites before contacting me since most of the time, these guides do a much better job at
explaining things:

Do you make any layouts besides petpages?
No.
BANNERS AND ICONS
I found a banner/icon from another site that I really like. Can you make one in a similar style?
In general, no. For the most part, I'll use a similar colour scheme if you like, but please
note that I do not make graphics according to other sites. I have my own style so please take a look
through the portfolio. Though I dislike making a graphic based on other people's work, this
is completely fine if you happen to like something I've already made. For example, if I made an
award icon and you liked the textures I used, feel free to tell me and I'll work it out!
TLB's Promise
High-quality content. High-quality service. These are two things that I want TLBís custom graphics to reflect.
Whenever I receive a request,
I promise...
To reply by neomail as soon as I receive a form. I want to open a line of communication between the site owner and the requester so that thereís no confusion on either part. In your confirmation neomail, I will also tell you to expect another neomail from me when your itemís ready for pick-up. As a visitor, you should know that youíre being taken care of and are in good hands.
To provide high-quality content. I wonít be doing anything halfway. Youíve taken out the time to fill out a form, so Iíll take the time to make you what you deserve ñ an awesome banner, spiffy icons, you name it! If the finished product looks 90% great, then thatís not good. Iíll start over and experiment with new textures, choose other fonts, and crop the images in a different way so that in the end, your request will meet a high standard. Think ìKilimanjaroî high. Yup, thatís pretty high. As a visitor, you deserve no less than the best.
To provide quick service. As soon as the confirmation neomail is sent, I start your request right away and donít stop until itís completely finished, uploaded, coded, and posted in the pick-up area. Any request that takes longer than this is a failure on my part. As a visitor, you shouldnít have to wait. Not even for one day.
To cater the request to your needs. Donít like that font choice? Want more textures added? Want me to take away the border? Resize it? Consider it done. Just because your request is in the pick-up area, doesnít mean itís finished. Take some time. Look it over. If youíre 100% satisfied with the result, awesome! If youíre 99% satisfied, stop right there. Send me a neomail and Iíll get it fixed. Donít worry; I wonít complain if you want me to change something. In fact, Iíd be more than happy to! As a visitor, you should never be afraid to voice your opinions.
