Lost in Space Fungus...A Guide

Feb 2nd: Very basic html until I begin to update this more. For now, here are the first nine levels, plus a basic rundown on the game.

The Basics

Released on February 2nd, 2007.

You play as a Grundo, who is strangely enough, lost in space. The trouble occurs when a giant space fungus interferes with your navigation. Oh no! So now you can only fly in circles, and must use this pattern to reach Kreludor.

Target, Controls, Obstacles and Bonuses
Your character has a circle around them, constantly rotating. The aim is to use your mouse click to stop it, thus progressing towards Kreludor. The catch is, you have a limited number of circles in which to reach your target. You start with 10 lives, and if you lose one of these everytime you have to redo a level (either because you run out of circles or get killed by an obstacle).

There are obstacles too, for instance, if the circle touches an asteroid or the side of the screen, you cannot pass through it, and will be bounced backwards around your circle. In later levels there are also space fungi, be warned, if your path crosses one of these you instantly lose a life.

Bonuses that appear randomly in the levels are the NP bag (25 points), the nova (10 points), the laser circle (gives you an extra circle) and the tank thing (an extra life!)But usually it's not worth getting them, they lead you astray and waste lives. A handy idea, if you are certain you will not reach Kreludor and any bonus except the laser circle is in reach, is to get it before retrying. You keep the points or get an extra life to cancel out the one you will already lose.

Level 1

Level 1 is pretty simple. No real obstacles, and usually two bonuses. Just use this to simply reach Kreludor. Usually you get a time bonus too, because it is so easy. Gain 10 points for finishing.

Simple!

Level 2

The addition of obtrusive asteroid walls makes this more difficult. However, keep in mind that if you hit an asteroid it can't kill you. It will bounce you around your circle in the opposite direction until you hit it again, in which case you get bounced again. Sounds a little complicated written down, but playing and experiencing this helps comprehension. Aim to link your circles through the maze, as you only have 5.

Sometimes two bonuses here, again 10 points for finishing, and usually a time bonus too!

Level 3

Ah now Level 3 is tricky. How do you get to Kreludor with that annoying wall around it? Well, as per the pattern below, use your first circle to get above the first wall. Don't worry if you hit the asteroid, just make sure you have positioned yourself well enough for the second circle to move you towards the right-hand side.

The second, third and fourth circles need to build you up for the perfect positioning of the last one. In the screenshot below, you can see how you need to use your circle layered over that wall and just so it falls onto Kreludor. This is achieved by getting enough height with your fourth circle's positioning and waiting for the perfect timing. Don't worry too much about how long you take, as your aim is important here.

Remember, if you hit an asteroid after the first one, while you wont die, you probably wont be able to reach Kreludor without using all your circles, and then you will lose a life.

Positioning is important here.

Level 4

This level usually sorts you out. Most people have been saying they get stuck here, and trust me, so did I. Similar in structure to level 3, I can only really finish it one way.

Your first circle is easy enough, but your second one needs to have that one asteroid inside it (see screenshot). And now the third circle is also kinda easy, but it is the fourth that will make or break your game. So long as you have those 3 asteroids inside it.

Now the fifth circle. You might again have to wait a few rotations before you can click in time for it to land on Kreludor, but other than that, if your fourth is good then you will be fine.

I know it says Level 5, but that is because I took the screenshot just after I touched Kreludor, and the number had already changed.

Level 5

Your first circle should only be half on the screen like in the screenshot, and the next two need to build height so you can reach the corner of the asteroid square. Now your fourth circle should have the corner 3 asteroids inside it, and your fifth should have the top 3 corner ones in it. Now where I stuff up most of the time is by not waiting long enough for the 6th circle to fall just right onto Kreludor. Make sure you wont hit the top of the screen.

No more level 5 woes.

Level 6

The first circle needs to make it so you can use your second cirle over the two asteroids, as in the screenshot. The third circle is more tricky; make it just on the first wall but not quite touching the middle wall.

Your fourth one should have those two asteroids in it, so that the fifth can have that L-shaped wall inside it. That way you can easily reach Kreludor.

Difficult enough without trying to get pesky bonuses.

Level 7

Now this level is where you are introduced to the Space Fungi. Don't touch them at all, because you will die. So the placement of circles in this one need to be quick and well placed in order to avoid them.

These aren't fun-guys.

Level 8

Again, avoid the fungi.

The important circle is the third one. It needs to cover those 2 fungi, but you can't touch them. So timing is important, and you can't really hesitate. If you have placed that circle well, then the last two should be fine, provided also that the last one is covering that corner formation, but again don't touch the fungi!

Okay okay, no more bad puns :(

Level 9

Hmm Level 9 had me stumped for a while. Trick is to lay down your first and second circles fast enough not to hit the fungi, but accurate enough to fit through the gap. Try waiting on your first circle until just before you hit that fungus, then getting in your second one half over that wall. That way, the rest of your circles are above the fungi walls and easy enough to reach Kreludor.

Level 10
