TML ADOPTION RULES
Please be sure that you have read and understood what Neopets has said regarding pet adoption here and here.
Requirements to Adopt:
TNT requirements
No account under 4 months old can adopt pets at level 2+; or painted, limited edition, or restricted pets.
No account can have more than 4 pets.
TML requirements
Must be in the TML for at least 2 weeks (subject to change)
You may only apply for one pet at a time.
You must have posted at least 10 posts on the guild message board. You check the number of posts you have by looking
here.
All pets must be adopted to an account that is a member of the TML.
Requirements to Put Up for Adoption:
You cannot charge others for pets; it is against Neopets' rules and will get your account frozen, no questions asked.
The pet must be painted, limited edition, or restricted—or a combination of those. The only limited edition species that are
NOT ACCEPTED are grundos that are painted blue, red, green, yellow, white, purple, or brown.
Process for A Pet Up for Adoption:
Please neomail tml_adopt_avies telling us that you would like to put your pet up for adoption and the name of the pet you wish to put up for adoption.
Process for Applying to Adopt:
If you are interested, neomail the account tml_adopt_avies, telling us which pet you would like to adopt. When sending a neomail request for a pet, you will need to put the pet's name and species in the subject line. Failure to do so will get your neomail deleted with no response.
We neomail the current owner, letting them know of your interest in adopting their pet. Please remember that simply because a pet appears on this page for adoption, it is ultimately left to the owner to put the pet up for adoption. If they change their mind, that is their perogative to do so, and while it's not something we recommend, they haven't done anything wrong. Basically, there's no guarantee that you will get a certain pet.
The owner then neomails you to let you know that you can adopt their pet! Yay! :)
How to Adopt:
There are two methods of adopting a pet now, which is nice! If in doubt after our explanation, read through
TNT's Pound FAQ Page first. If you're still uncertain, neomail gladgal01 for further clarification.
1) User-to-User Transfer Option (Safest and Recommended Way to Adopt)
Note: You may only send a pet once per month and receive a pet once per month using this safe method. Just an FYI.
The current owner will transfer the pet to adopter and pay TNT's delivery fee of 1,000 nps (Your neopoints DO NOT come to us!). Upon doing so, the adopter will receive an event notice letting them know.
The adopter will then accept the pet after paying TNT's fee to adopt (Again, your neopoints DO NOT come to us!). If the adopter has not accepted the pet after 2 days, then the pet will go back onto the original owner's account.
Love your new pet and spoil them rotten! :)
2) Regular Adoption Option (Not Recommended)
Note: Using this option may result in the pet being adopted by another player and means that any wearables or paint brush clothing will NOT transfer.
Because this way to adopt uses the Pound, it is best that the original owner and adopter pick a time when both of them will be online_ This way, both people know exactly when the pet will be in the Pound, and the adopter will have a better chance of adopting it. Remember to search by the pet's name to give you even better chances of adopting the pet.
Once the day and time has been decided upon, both of you go to the Pound. The original owner abandons their pet, and the adopter searches the Pound by the pet's name as fast as possible.
Once the adopter sees the pet they want in the center of the screen, press "Adopt" on the bottom right corner of the green box.
A little box pops up letting you know how much it will cost to adopt the pet. Press "OK" or hit "Enter".
Now, love your pet and be sure to give it a good home! :)
A Few Pieces of Advice:
Make sure to have enough neopoints on hand to adopt from the pound (5,000 is a good amount, and normally you will only need MUCH less than that).
When using the Regular Adoption Option, remember that it is not always a guarantee that you will get the pet you want. The Pound is open to ALL Neopets' players, and so if someone else sees the pet you are trying to adopt first, they can get it fair and square. Many players are nice and will give you back your pet IF you promptly send them a respectful and polite neomail explaining the situation.
There is a time restriction: if the adoption has not taken place within one week of the current owner being contacted, depending on the reasons, the pet COULD be put back up for adoption. If the adoption has not taken place after 2 weeks, the pet WILL be put back into the Adoption Agency.
One neomail is all that is needed in notifying of your interest. Please wait 5 days before re-contacting us if you have not received a response. If we get multiple neomails from you before we have responded once, we will delete your request—this to discourage begging and harassment. Repeated offenses will get you blocked.
Do NOT neomail the current pet owner.
And above all: These rules might seem harsh, but considering that these awesome pets cost you nothing but the time the adoption process takes, we expect that you will be understanding and patient.
NOTE: If you have a pet you would like to put into the TML Adoption Center but you can not wait for the process to play out, then still send us a neomail and we can arrange a foster home for your pet until a permit one is found.
