A Complete Guide to Cellblock!
Hi guest! Here you will find how to unlock the secrets of Cellblock! At first I tried other guides, but none worked quite right. Then I developed my own strategy and found this worked the majority of the time! Try it out and Neomail me if it worked for you or if you have any suggestions please :) ! Also visit me here. Thanks for visiting!
Basics:
- You are trying to get five pieces in a row horizontally, vertically (thanks psychopomposity for the correction!) or diagonally before your opponent does!
Important:
- Always block your opponent if they get three in a row! Doesn't matter what side you block, just do it :)
- Don't always follow this guide! If your opponent doesn't block you at all when you get three in a row, take advantage of this and create four in a row. Go on to win :) Just be careful around the edges because sometimes the wall can block you too!
- It would help you to read this guide better if you placed your pegs in the same place I did in the pictures. It will make more sense and you will learn the main idea better.
- This guide is not 100%! None are! Your opponent may go somewhere other than where I show. Block them if it would let them win, change the order in which you place pieces, or ignore them if their move makes no sense!
- The easier opponents do not often follow any pattern. It may just be touch-and-go when you play them. The harder opponents will most likely follow this guide.
- Your last move is your piece surrounded by a red border, the opponents last move is surrounded by a yellow border. This legend is the same as the game uses!

Here is your Cellblock board (from Tournaments 1-10):

Step 1

You want to start by placing a piece diagonally to any of the pieces you already have. Your opponent will block one side of this. If they don't block you, remember to take advantage and win really quick!
Step 2

Start to make a diagonal line on the piece you just placed. Your opponent will continue to block the initial three pegs you had, this time on the other side.
Step 3

Now, place your piece diagonally left and up from the piece you just played. This will create a diamond with three of your other pegs. Your opponent will begin to create a three in-a-row line. You want them to do this!
Step 4

Now, you want to block you're opponent, otherwise they can win! But, by placing this piece you are also guaranteed to win :) There's still a bit more to do though. Your opponent will keep trying to build on their line, so in your next move you will have to block them.
Step 5

So, here you have to block your opponent again or lose. Your opponent will most likely go in the place I have indicated, or they may go somewhere else. If they go somewhere else, skip ahead to the step seven where you should find what you seek :)
Step 6

Now go two spaces up and right from your last piece. This may seem pointless, but if you let your opponent go here, you would have to block them for two turns rather than for this one. Your opponent will start to build a potential row, but don't worry!
Step 7
This step splits into two paths (continue on path 1 or 2 til the end of this guide)! First it shows where you should go, then your opponent will do one of two things. Follow the one that pertains to how your opponent has gone. The move you make will block your opponent, but it will also completely guarantee you a win! Depending on how your opponent next places their piece, you can act different to win. Refer to the pictures to know where to go:

| By going here, your opponent blocks any chance of you creating a vertical line. Therefore, you should go Diagonally (in the next step!) | By going here, your opponent will block you from making a diagonal line. Therefore you should go Vertically (in the next step!) |
Step 8
Continue to follow the path that pertains to you -- either Path 1 or 2!This move shows where you should go and where your opponent will counter your attack.

| You should go at the top of your diagonal line. Your opponent will choose one side to block, but either way you can win :) | You should go in the middle of a vertical line. Your opponent will block the top or bottom, but either way you can win :) |
Step 9
Continue to follow the path that pertains to you -- either Path 1 or 2!This move will finish the game and allow you a win:

This guide only deals with games in Cellblock up to Tournament 10. Then games get more confusing (you do not have the starting board formation and there are rocks obstructing random squares). Therefore, this guide only deals with games up to Tournament 10. I hope I've helped you! Below, I have just the basics on the trophies you will receive, and when you should get it!
