Petpet
Artwork
-blocked-Pepito burst out from behind a thick seaweed forest. The Pepito swims around frantically, as if looking for somewhere to hide. It starts to move towards one of the crevices in the reef when suddenly, a brilliant blue blur explodes from the seaweed forest, diving down upon the hapless Pepito and swallowing the petpet whole. The creature twists to face you and you realize you are staring into the face of young Peophin. Two enormous fins flare out on either side as the Peophin glares at you sternly.
At this point, you could make a decision... go on to safer places, or stay behind to get a look at this rare and beautiful Neopet?
You decide to stay behind. Afterall, there can't be too many people who've seen such a creature. By now, the Peophin has decided you are not a threat and retreats to a cave at the base of reef. You follow him, wondering if you've made the right decision...
You cautiously swim after the Peophin, following him into the narrow opening surrounded by urchins and starfish. Inside, the walls are lined with anemones, their clownfish inhabitants swim out from behind the safety of the tentacles to get a quick glimpse of the intruder before darting back inside. Even though the cave tunnel is quite spacious, you can't help but feel a little claustrophobic. Up ahead, the Peophin swims into what seems to be a chasm. You can't wait to get out of this tunnel... You stare in awe at the chasm you are now in. The entire room is filled seashells of all shapes and sizes, as well as other trinkets from across Neopia. There is an air bubble here, and you surface, taking a much-needed breath of fresh air. Next to you is a broad rock, and you crawl onto it, exhausted. Across from you, the mysterious Peophin has also settled onto a rock, staring at you perplexedly. He begins to speak...
I must say, you are the first foolish creature to ever attempt following me into my lair... I'm impressed. Perhaps you'd like to know a bit about me?" the Peophin says, his voice full of more eagerness than you're sure was intended. You nod slowly, introducing yourself as guest. "Well, guest, my name is Zatreyu, Trey if you please. This, is my home, where I've spent all of my life. I'm a Faerie Peophin," he says, his fins unfurling. Even though you know he means no harm, you can't help but feel intimidated by the sight. Noticing your reaction, he continues, "I'm a Faerie Peophin, though as you probably can tell, my "wings" are different from normal ones."
They were a gift from one of the water faeries that also inhabit these waters. I was orphaned at a young age, and cared for by the faeries...." he trails off, something in his emerald eyes seems to shift and he looks more like a lost young Peophin than the tough and arrogant creature he seems to want you to believe. The moment doesn't last long, though, and with a quick shake of his head, he reverts back to his tough facade.
Er, as I was saying, these wings were a gift from the faeries. They're not unlike the fins of the LionFish, in fact that's what I partly am, half-lionfish. The fins are not only for intimidation, but they're also wonderful for defending because the tips are filled with neurotoxins. Strictly for defense, I assure you. But I suppose you'd be ready to hear about something else?

~Friends~
(Zatreyu doesn't have many friends, mostly cause of me. I'm not the best of RP'ers, but I'd like to get him more friends. As long as you're willing to put up with my sense of time, please do mail me to RP with him.^_^;;)

Nefertieh. A very very outgoing Peophin. I don't know her too well, but she has an amazing personality. |

Jhkae. My owner is only slightly better at making friends than I am. But I'm glad she knows Mara, otherwise I'd never have met Jhkae. I don't know him very well, but he seems like a trust-worthy peophin. |
~Niamh the Mazzew~
*You see the Peophin's features soften considerably when asked about the little aquatic petpet by his side. The little Mazzew seems preoccupied with a group of anemones attached to the cave walls, their paralyzing tentacles swaying gently and innocently with the flow of the water. Like a protective parent, Zatreyu nudges her away from the dangerous marinelife and closer to him. Already bored with the anemones anyway, Niamh climbs up his tangles of hair and perches herself on top of his head, gazing at you with her deep hazel eyes and cooing.*
"I found Niamh in the oceans around Mystery Island. Apparently she was being transported there on a shop from Tyrannia. But the ship never made it. I found the wreckage of the ship near the shore, I don't know whether there was a navigational error of whether it was the work of pirates, but whatever happened the ship ran aground and its hull was destroyed, spilling out all of its cargo.
Niamh was huddled on a rock in the middle of the water, shivering. She couldn't swim, she's just a baby, afterall, and the tide was coming in. Soon she wouldn't have a rock to stand on. I found her just in time. I took the poor thing back to shore intent on just letting her run free, but she was so small, and I had a feeling she wouldn't be able to defend herself.
Besides, she didn't really want to leave me. So I brought her back here. Since then she's learned how to swim and can almost hold her breath longer than me! She's also the sweetest creature I've ever met. So innocent and so curious. She finds much joy in things I'd normally take for granted.
Now I've just got to teach her how to speak," he says, smiling up at Niamh.
