The Battle Commences!posted by Deulwyn | 24 Sleeping Y10
The Return of Sloth plot has progressed into the Battledome. Al does all well and good in the puzzle stages, but put her in the BD and she slashes around blindly. Vyx was tired of getting beat up all the time, so she asked me to teach Al a thing or two about the BD.
Over on my petpage, I'll work on setting Al straight about BD strategy. Come over and have a look. Also, if you have any other suggestions for Al and Vyx, send Al a neoMail: she needs all the help she can get!
A final note on plot battling: Beat what you can as many times as you can.
500k a day?!posted by Cryon | 17 Sleeping Y10
Al recently answered a question on the neoBoards: "What is the highest amount of NPs you've earned in one day?" Her answer was "About 500k. But I know other people have earned more.
And sure enough, other people answered that they had earned several million NPs in one day, often from selling a high-priced paintbrush or similar item. (Al has never had one of those to sell.)
A few minutes later, Al received several neoMails asking her how she made so much in one day. She directed them all to my petpage, and she added an extra note:
Pay special attention to the sections on Restocking and the Stock Market. Those are how you can easily make 500k per day.
So there you have it, folks, straight from the player herself: restocking and the Stock Market are your ticket to Neopian wealth!
Earn More NPs Nowposted by Vyx | 2 Awakening Y10
Cryon always goes on about "restocking this" and "playing games that" and "slow and steady," but I'm far more impatient than he is. I want results yesterday. So I'm going to tell you my quick tips for earning more NPs now.
Those are just a few of my tips for bumping up your bank account today.
How to Get Helpposted by Kalen | 26 Sleeping Y10
You've got a question about Neopets. What do you do?
If you haven't discovered the neoBoards yet, now's the time. The Boards are an internal forum where you can talk to other players about the game.
First, look at the Board topics. Each Board has a title: Avatars/neoSignatures, Help, Quests, Shop Ads, etc. People who want to talk about Avatars and neoSignatures hang out on the Avatars/neoSignatures Board. People who want to talk about Quests hang out on the Quests Boards... Got the idea? Good.
So the first tip for getting help is post on the right board. Really. If you have a question about the Battledome and you post on the Beauty Contest board, everyone's going to look at you funny. You want to slay monsters with your sword; they want to slay the competition with their looks. That's not a good fit.
But if you post on the right board, you're more likely to find people who are interested in the same topic as you. And you're more likely to find the answer to your question.
Second, now that you're on the right board, ask a question. Please. Posts that say only "Help!" don't actually help. People will look at your post, see that you don't have a question, and will leave! Leaving is bad. You need them to stay and answer your question. So ask your question, and ask it in either your post title or the first post. Ask quickly and you have a better chance of getting an answer.
The third tip is be patient. You're on the right board and you've asked your question. Other people are clicking around, trying to find a post that they know the answer to. (And, sadly, they have to look around all the spam posting to find your actual, real, lonely question.)
If you get impatient and angry, you decrease your chance of getting an answer. People will now feel compelled to comment on your behavior instead of your question. That will make you even madder, which will make them mock you more, and... Let's just say, it's a self-perpetuating cycle. Pretty soon, you're all on page 15 calling each other names. And your question still isn't answered!
Follow these three tips to get better help on the Neopets Boards:
Good luck!
Polite neoMailsposted by Shadeen | 19 Sleeping Y10
We pets get lots of neoMails. A lot of them are quite nice and pleasant, and we enjoy getting those. And then there are the not-so-nice ones, and we seriously consider sending the Draik Horde out to flame them. But Al says it's not nice to get revenge, so instead, we're going to talk about how to write nice neoMails.
Writing to someone to compliment them isn't hard. Pick a message topic from the drop-down list or write your own. Write "Thanks for Atablicryon's petpage. It helped." Click "Send". See, that was easy!
But what if you've found *gasp* a typo on one of Al's pages and you want to point it out to her? First of all, please, please, please double-check to make sure that what you think is an error really is one. Many people try to "correct" something that is already correct, and Al snarls a lot when that happens and mocks middle-school English teachers. For the sake of your English teacher, please make sure you've found a real mistake.
If you're sure you've spotted a mutant word, try the following: "Thanks for Atablicryon's petpage. It helped. There may be a typo in the section about Stocks; perhaps you meant to say 'Stock Market' instead of 'Sock Market'? Thanks again." Phrasing it as a question lessens the sting of the correction. Now Al will fix the error and send you a note of thanks.
Anytime you have to offer corrections to someone, you want to be careful in your phrasing. The majority of people who neoMail Al for these always come across as haughty, smart-aleck, and condescending. Oddly enough, the ones who write in and are completely wrong are most often the most obnoxious. Al laughs at them. Most who find a real mistake are nice about it.
Encouragement Cornerposted by Cryon | 12 Sleeping Y10
I get a lot of neoMails asking me how I earned my NPs. While the answer is at first obvious ("go read my petpage...), I think a lot of these people are simply overwhelmed at seeing how much I've earned and comparing it to how much they haven't earned.
When you're first starting out in anything, there are other people who have been doing it longer than you have. They have more experience, more stuff, more skill than you've ever seen. It's easy to look at these people and to be discouraged. They have everything; you have nothing. And somehow your brain gets the idea that since you can't be like them by tomorrow, then you can never do it.
But that isn't true at all! Talk to the people who you want to be like: you'll find that they started exactly where you are now. They didn't give up, though. They started learning and working and trying until they got to where they are now.
So don't give up. Yes, other people have more NPs and pets and cool stuff than you do right now, but that's okay. Because they've done it, you know that it can be done. You can do it, too!
