Sitting at his desk idly, Tetsquati watches the wild mallards, babyca, and buzzers play in the light rain falling in his garden through the safety of his window. Wincing as a buzzer strays too close to the carnivorous part of the garden and get snapped up by the giant Dragonbud, the plant mage lays his head gently on the rich green desk with a soft sigh.
I hate lazy days… What I'd do for an Adventure…
Suddenly a vine taps on his window and a All Seeing Tree sapling looks at him, showing him what one of its brothers in another part of the garden could see.
Advisor Djava?!" He leaps out of his chair, sending it tumbling over as Tetsquati stands in the middle of the room, piling his stuff up on his bed in a state of panic, his tail going bottlebrush. Looking out the window, he spots the graying lion-like man heading towards the house and presses against the wall, breathing heavily, his eyes wide.
There was no way he was going back. He missed his parents, but he wasn't going to become a slave. He had his freedom and planned on keeping it.
Yep… This is the place…" He could hear Djava poking at the All Seeing sapling and shuffling through the bush. The shadow falls on the ground and the window groans slightly as the large man leaned against it, peering in. Tetsquati swallows, trying to hold his breath, afraid the man sensitive hearing had not weakened since he was a child.
The man pulls away and looks around, and Tetsquati eye's his items and the little bonsai next to him. Glancing one last time at the window from his place at the wall, Tetsquati takes a deep breath, steeling his nerves. Suzaku, his pet and companion perches on his tail, ready for the escape.
As the Nineteen year old's green fur settles only slightly, he closes his eyes, whispering under his breath, "…One... Two… Two and a half… Two and three quarters..." He sighs, "No time like today... Three!".
He leapt from his place against the wall, slamming his suitcase shut and grabbing the handle. He turns, heading towards that plant next to the window.
."Prince Tetsquati! I found yo-".-
Djava's voice fades to nothing as his fingers touch the plant. His eyes lock with the advisor of his Parent's kingdom for a second, as his body, Phoenix, and suitcase explodes in a shower of tiny leaves, his vision suddenly blinded by the bright light of the tropical island he teleported to.
Letting out a soft sigh, he plops down, holding his head in his hands, "Me and my big mouth…".

After calling Mindsend to ask her to keep Djava from seeing Cari, Tetsquati presses his forehead against the wall, his hand still resting lightly on the payphone.
He needed a place to stay. But now that Djava knew Mindsend had been protecting him, anything connected with Mindsend mannor and Von Callan Court was no longer safe.
With a grunt, Tetsquati takes picks up the phonebook, looking up any where on the island that rented rooms out as Suzaku chirrups sadly, nuzzling Seiryu, his grumpy little Zytch. With a snort of agression, the small dragon-like petpet spits a small jet of water at her companion, who simply trills, shaking the water from his feathers.
After some digging, an advertisement for a Bed and Breakfast that had some long term boarding caught his eye, "The Sea Chantey Bed & Breakfast... This looks like a good spot as any..." He takes a piece of paper and a pen from his Laptop case, jotting the information down quickly so he could get there by nightfall.
Closing the heavy book with a thud, he takes a deep breath of the clean air, and smiles, "Good to get into some warm weather again, Isn't it Suzaku? Almost like we're back in the jungles... Without the being locked inside the palace all day part..." He tugs on his sweater, "I'll need to buy some suitable clothing.. Maybe a long sleeve cotton shirt...
Suzaku coos sadly, blinking up at him.
Rubbing the Airax's cheek, Tetsquati smiles, "Don't worry.. We'll try to get Mindsend to sneak some of our belongings over here.. Otherwise I'll buy you a nice perch to replace the old one... Until then, I'll let you make a nest of my shirt..
The Prehistoric Petpet trills happily, his crest perking, as he settles onto Tetsquati's shoulder, and gently places his Zytch onto the top of Tetsquati's head as they made their way to their temporary home away from home.

This next section of story is an edited version of an RP between Tetsquati and Lani, the owner of The Sea Chantey Bed & Breakfast. Lani does not belong to me.
A portly Chomby peeks her head through the archway that leads to the kitchen and dries off her front legs before making her way into the entry to greet him, "Sorry about that," she says, "My little brother usually greets visitors right away... but he's away at science camp for the summer.
If you'll follow me upstairs, I can show you to your room. My name is Lani and I'm the owner of this Bed and Breakfast - so please let me know if you have any meal preferences or if you would need a wake-up call or anything. May I ask your name, sir?
Tetsquati smiles awkwardly, "My names Tetsquati. And anything vegitarian or lacto ova would be wonderful. I'm allergic to meat, but for some reason eggs and milk products don't bother me..." He motions to the Airax on his shoulder, "Suzaku shares my meals with me, so you don't need to care for him. He's very clean."
His smile becomes a little more genuine, "Anyway, I would love if I could help you around the house. I won't ask for pay for it, I just like working with my hands. I could grow you a rather nice garden if you want..
Lani forced a smile, she had always been reluctant to allow petpets in the house... Especially when one of her guests insisted on bringing in their Elephante-sized Apis...
Er..." she said uncomfortably, "You can start by promising me you'll be able to contain your petpet. I don't have a rule against them unless they make a mess or bother other guests, otherwise, they're welcome to stay inside if you'd prefer that over the stables in the back.
If you insist on working, I'm afraid I'd feel guilty giving any guest a task list, but you're welcome to fix up anything that needs fixing, as long as the changes aren't too drastic. ...how long were you planning on staying, Tetsquati?
Tetsquati swallows, then takes a deep breath, "I'm not sure, but likely no more then a month or two, if its not a problem for you. You see, I'm a writer, and every now and then I need to get away from the media to clear my head. Even with my garden, Neopia Central's too hectic for me right now... But it wouldn't be work for me to fix stuff up, or grow you something...
Tetsquati reaches into his bag, pulling out a bag full of sunflower seeds. He then takes a single seed out and closes his palm around it. Holding his now free hand over the one holding the seed, he focuses, turning the simple snack food into a miniature tree, the branches growing in the shape of a chomby. Flowers bloom in the colors and markings of Lani's skin, as well as a blue flowery vine around the neck and a single flower on it's "head". He then holds it out to her as the roots sink into itself, "Here. Its an airplant now. You just need to mist it every now and then or place it near water...
Fantastic!" Lani grins, and laughs, embarassed to think of what her already gossipy neighbors would say with a topiary of herself out in the front yard.
When they stop at the room, he sets his things down as Suzaku grabs Seiryu from his hair and flies over to a dresser, opening it with one claw and then settling in as if it was a nest. The kougra chuckles, then turns to Lani, "How much do you ask for rooms?
Rates are usually around 7K a night - but I've always been willing to compromise if a guest can't afford the rate - just let me know and we can work something out." She bobs her head in a bow, "I hope you'll enjoy your stay here! It's not often we get many writers vacationing in these parts!
The Topiary swings its head around to look at her with flowery eyes, then shimmers to sleep.
Tetsquati chuckles almost nervously, then grins, "No problem at all. I can even give you twice as much extra to rent a plot in your yard for a vegitable garden. Won't take more then a day for it to grow, I just like having one to tend to...
Oh, you don't have to do that!" Lani exclaimed as she watched the topiary settle in her paws. "I'm afraid there's not much room for gardening left with all of the sand around - but if you can find a good spot of soil, you're welcome to it as long as your vegetables can cohabitate with my flowers, at least.
Tetsquati grins, "Well, a little Mulch Grass would fix that problem easily.. Would also help protect your foundation from washing away. I'll be sure to make plenty of places for you to do your own gardening. I'll get that started right away so it can get some dirt started in the morning." He winks, "Its a type of grass that grows and dies rapidly, turning sand, clay, and gravel into rich, good dirt Stuff that wont wash away during the first storm to hit it...
Oooh, that sounds great!" Lani said before she stopped outside of one of the rooms on the top floor and handed Tetsquati an old fashioned key. "You're in room #4, please let me know if you need anything or if the guest in room three bothers you. He's kind of a regular come-and-go resident so I can kick him out if he causes trouble for anyone else." She winked before turning to go back down the stairs, "I've got to finish up the laundry for now, see ya!
Tetsquati bow at her retreating form, "Thank you so much for accepting me.
After settling his things down and getting everything set up, Tetsquati walks out the house and closes the door gently behind him. Taking the sunflower seeds, he scatters them around the house, the seeds sprouting an odd, neon green grass that would toss the sand over itself and turn brown before sprouting out of the dead grass like a phoenix from the ashes, repeating the process, which made the ground appear to boil in ever darkening soil mixing with the sand.
Tetsquati whistles, walking a little ways away from the ocean, and the house, to the edge of the property where he planted a handful of the seeds, then walked a yard away before turning towards the spot, kneeling and putting his hands on the ground. A faint glow forms on the still sandy part of the yard and the seeds sprout and weave among each other, the green and golden light flickering like fireflies as the plant grows. One of the leaves spits some fresh water at its feet and the growth increases. Within minutes, a fully matured Tiered Pond bubbled happily, a source for fresh, clean water for the rest of the garden.
The Kougra grins at his work, then glances at his watch, "Well, if Miss Lani doesn't want you like you are, I could always turn you into a shade or fruit tree.." He pauses to listen to it, his ears perked, "Well, I know you like being what you are, but you were origonally a sunflower snack seed, lightly salted. But hopefully, it won't be too big of a deal, your out of the way and useful.
He strokes the smooth leaf with water bubbling up from its highest leaf and falling onto the one below it and the rain catcher pond below. He smiles slightly, "If your lucky, she might let me make you swimming pool sized.
It responded cheerfully, squirting a small spray of water in the air, and returned to its pleasent bubbling. Tetsquati chuckles, clucking his tongue as he heads back inside. Spotting Lani in another room, he waves a little, "I got the mulch grass started.. And I noticed you didn't have a free freshwater source for your garden so I have a small tierd pond growing on the edge of your property. I can change her to something else if you decide you don't like having one. But she should cut your costs down..." He grins, "Could even be used as a swimming pool in the future if you want her bigger...."
He then starts to head up the stairs, yawning broadly, relaxed from the stress of the day and drained from the use of his powers.
Finally, he curls up into a ball on his bed, buried under his covers. With another yawn, his eyes drift closed and he drifts to sleep, purring softly.

The next day, Tetsquati sniffs the air as he smells breakfast cooking from indoors. After sleeping his usual five hours of night rest, he went outside to surprize his new housemates by turning a couple of rather stubborn weeds that kept sprouting up into rare tropical flowers. He purrs slightly, and stands, dusting the dirt off of his pants. He seems to melt into a shower of tiny leaves that melt into thin air, and appears back in his room, the little potted plant he set up in there shaking its vines trying to touch his hand for a pet.
Giving the vine a gentle stroke, he picks up his computer case and pulls out his laptop, the dark silver device shimmering to life. Tetsquati takes a piece of chocolate from his bag and unwraps it with one hand and his teeth as he logs onto the internet with the other hand. Popping his treat into his mouth, he slips on his reading glasses so he could check the news.

Tetsquati chokes on his chocolate bite after reading the main stories headline, his eyes bugging as he tries to cough the candy out of his wind pipe. The chocolate slips out of the danger zone and slides into his stomache grudgingly, leaving the Kougra coughing and gasping for breath as he reads the article, which had a candid picture of him walking out of a grocery store, his arms loaded with vegitables.
Month of Relaxing 18, year 8
NEOPIA CENTRAL - after Nine years of searching for Tetsquati Seacrest, The Kingdom of Gems "Runaway Prince", the search was almost over for Sir Djava Aakarshan, Chief Advisor of the Crown and ward for the now 19 year old Prince of the "Kingdom of Gems", A small but highly wealthy kingdom that supplies Neopia's main providor of Gemstones, Precious metals, and enchanted Jewelery.
After getting a tip that Prince Tetsquati could actually be the rising Detective Story Writer "T.S. Krestati" that seemed to be purpously keeping himself in the shadows eventually led me to the residence of an elven women named Mindsend Lighttree, a "Storyweaver", who claimed that Krestati was her pen name when I called her. However, I needed to follow the lead and press on. Finding the Prince is important to our culture.
When we went to question Miss Lighttree, a magic ward prevented our entry into the property.
Tetsquati grunts, "Great... Now you set it to everyone but those invited. Good going, Mindsend." The Kougra sighs, not really wanting to read any further. His face was plastered all over the Neopian Times, likely over every news channel in Neopia, and his time as a free man was likely grinding to a painful stop.
He lowers his head into his hands, fighting back tears. To be brought back to the kingdom would mean no more Gardening, no more cooking, no more writing his novels or doing anything for himself. Everyone would insist on doing it for him. A figure head. A pawn. A Supposed ruler.
But worst of all, he would be forever tied with a total stranger in a political move, all planned by Djava. A Trophy to some dutchess wanting to be the future queen of the wealthy kingdom.
Not even his parents wanted to rule. All they did was save them from a demon while traveling, and accidently his father took the demons place as King. They were the ones that suggested he run off and join the Scarabine Circle so he could learn his powers and get the training needed to escape being a figurehead. Doing nothing but sitting around and signing paperwork, while everyone else does the interesting things in life.
But Little use is the training to someone who liked being out in the open and with people in the modern age, where a simple newspaper can ruin your chances of pretending to be someone else.
Tetsquati lifts his head, looking blankly at the screen, then clicks the link to send a letter to the news paper...

Written by Tetsquati Seacrest
Dirk gets shot in the shoulder in chapter three, and acts like he hasn't until chapter seven, when suddenly the pain causes him to miss the villain of the story.
I am not proud of that series, since it was originally a spoof essay I wrote while taking a break from my pride and joy, "Grasping at Shadows", which the publishers refused the print because it was "Too complex" for readers. And now those that would be interested in it shy away from my attempts to sell it, since they see my name as a sign of "Bad, Cliché detective stories". But that is enough ranting about my books.
Now that I have proven that I am T.S. Krestati, I will admit that the name is the pen name of Tetsquati Seacrest, "The Runaway Prince" as you put it. I have spent the last Nine years in hiding, trying to live a normal life unlike the horror show I had to live through in Genorai, or the Kingdom of Gems, under the thumb of Advisor Djava.
Genorai is a rather secretive kingdom, but most people know that I am the first "New Royal Blood" born into the crown, since the last of the previous line was destroyed by a demon that ruled for almost a thousand years, causing Genorai to vanish off the maps of Neopia.
And many people know that my parents banished the demon that had been ruling over the kingdom and abusing its people little over thirty years ago. Few people know, however, that the demons corruption continues in Djava and their "rules", nor do they know that my family is not the same type of Kougra as they are, mainly because the Advisors keep my parents trapped under piles of paper work and cultural rules set by the demon they asked them to free them from. As royalty, we are nothing by symbols of power and a mask to hide behind for the three main counclers, including my keeper Djava.
Most people know of my twin sisters "death" back when we were four years old, when she got lost in the wilds of the Terror Mountains. However, My sister is alive and well, and currently helping a friend of mine raise his daughter. Djava faked her death to convince my parents to go back to the kingdom rather then keep looking for her. It took ten years for her to be found by that same said friend of mine, who nursed her back to health.
I do not want to leave the kingdom of Genorai under the claws of Djava, Abduhrak, and Bejundio, nor do I want to be forced back into a world of no freedom, where I cannot write my books, work in my garden, or even choose who to love.
In Seven years, I will return to Genorai, and make a change for the better, and bring equal rights to the people of my home kingdom, where all but the few fat cats are no better off then Slaves, despite my parents tireless work to make their lives better.
But until then, I still have some studying to do. But I also plead for help from our allies, from Lost Desert to Tyrannia and from the Haunted Woods to Mystery Island, and everyone in between, to help my parents and my people. Djava, Abduhrak, and Bejundio are political criminals and they need to have a stop put to their evil.
Tetsquati Secrest
The "Reluctant Prince" of Genorai

Tetsquati sips a cup of hot cocoa and takes his vitamens and suppliments to make up for the fact he cannot eat the meat needed for his body, "Thank goodness for modern medicine...
It had been a month since his letter to the Times was published, and he was actually enjoying reading the news. International Investigations prooved his claims about Djava and the other advisors where true and they were arrested as criminals against Neomanity. He couldn't help but watch the film clips of the Space Faerie dragging Djava away while he screamed about raining distruction down appon all, before getting getting shoved into the space pod for the off world Prison.
Leaning back, he closing his eyes. Unfortunately, because of his admitting to being Prince Tetsquati, whenever he left to get some groceries or even just gardening, he was mobbed by reporters asking him questions, and always getting phone calls about guest apperances and asked to give speeches.
Tetsquati looks out the window, back into his garden where the story all began. Mindsend kept the wards on high, so he never saw people wandering trough, lost, or sneaking in. And there was enough property that he could garden endlessly without interruptions.
But he missed having people treat him as a normal neopian. No one else gets their pictures splattered all over the world if they are spotted wearing overalls with dirt on them. Sighing, he stands up and heads to the door, "Being Royalty Stinks...
And, with that last note, he turned off the light.
