Silence builds an awful wreckage of a girl
It feeds on loneliness and creates a void
Gray shadows haunt and torment and torture
A teenager is stricken and destroyed

There is no sound of laughter or happiness here
The little one has thrown in the towel today
Somber, melancholy moods decay the soul
It is futile to hope and dream and pray

Emptiness builds a home in this woman
In this girl, this child where hollows have led
A deepening sea of nowhereness consumes
And eats away at every connecting thread

Confusion feeds like a savage inside her,
Leaving nothing considered worthy remains
Destined to walk through life less ordinary
Alone, exiled, different and disdained.

Love

Lore was once a mutant who was my best friend. I met him while training with my father. He was lonely because of his appearance but I didn't care. Nor did he care that I was to be an assassin.
Then once day, I found out that Lore had been killed and I wasn't there to save him. My best friend then disappeared for this earth and I gave up hope in living without him. Then, he came back, but he was a ghost and he was blind. I didn't care. I was overjoyed to have my friend back.
But over time, feeling began to grow and I soon realized that I had fallen in love with Lore.
Lore gave me something I had looked all over the earth for.
He gave me hope

Story

My family were assassins....
They killed, it was their job. My father, was one of the greatest ever to have lived. I am proud to have him as my father, and would never want another to take his place. For no one can. He is one in a million.
My mother, on the other hand wasn't ever a killer. She never touched a blade of any kind. She was sweet and had a very gentle touch, all men wanted her as a wife. But her heart belonged to my father. They were wed and had one child.
Under a full moon as a singel shower of rain fell on the sky. A singel child was born.
Me.

From my moment of birth my father knew I was strong. That was when he got the crazed idea that I could be an assassin. My mother didn't like that idea. She wanted me to become a mother, to cook, clean, care for the young, but my father had the upper hand. He had no sons to succeed him. I was his only child, so thus, I was to be an assassin from the moment on.

On my tenth birthday, my father gave me my first dagger, I don't use it anymore but I still have it. It was a beautiful blade, but I saw stains of blood and could tell it has been used before. By who? my father never told me, so it lays a mystery.

At age eleven my training began
My father made me strong, one who would not back down no matter the cost. He made me fearless, I wasn't afraid to kill, unlike some assassins I knew of. He made me who I am today, I guess I could thank him, in a way, I am just me. Not anyone else

Then he came along

His name was Lore and he wasn't of my clan. He was a mutant and a loner and one of my very best friends. I told my father that I had met him and he became very angry.
Friends are weaknesses Shayn! They bring your downfall!
is what he yelled at me. Then he made me choose, between my training or my friend.
I chose my training. I was my fathers only heir, if I gave it away who would carry on his name? No one, and I didn't want that to happen. But I didn't stop seeing Lore...
At night I snuck out of visit him. We would play in the grass fields all night then I would go back to train. For a while it was heaven and didn't want it any other way.

Then my first kill came as my last test.

My father got a message that a young girl needed to be killed. He smiled and turned to me.
I hope you have trained well, Shayn. For tonight, we test your skills....
that was what he said before we started out. On our way out, I saw Lore watching me from behind a tree. I gave him a sad look but walked on. I wanted to tell him that this would be our last meeting, but he had to find out on his own. It was one of the saddest moments in my life, having to give away your best friend for your job. But that's life and I had to live it.

The girl was a yellow xweetok who was part of a rag-tag street gang. Her name was Feather, an unusual name if you ask me, but that's just me. She lived in town with others that were also in this rag-tag group. Approaching town, I wanted to run back to my quite place in the clan. To play with Lore, trying to catch the buttermoths that flew around in the grass, but I had to prove to my dad that I was going to be great. Just like him...

Then I found her, she was running. I looked at her picture then at my father, he nodded and I followed her, I made sure I was quite as to sneak up on her and kill her quietly, but sometimes death is tricky and wants to mess with you. She turned around and spotted me. I stood my ground. She growled and came towards me, still I stood then she charged and I charged back. I must admit she was strong but I was stronger.

Finally after battling, I pinned her down and my dagger was drawn. I saw the fear in her eyes as she looked at me, I looked back. I doubt there was sorrow or sadness in mine as I brought the dagger down, and plunged it into her heart. The light in her eyes began to fade and I pulled my dagger out, wiping it on her fur then pulling back into it's sheath.

Then when I turned around, I expected to see my father but I didn't. I saw another xweetok with yellow fur that looked just like the one I killed, then I ran.

I found my father looking at me with such pride on his face.
Did you kill the girl?" he asked setting a paw on my shoulder.
Yes father, I did" I said back to him, he smiled and turned around. I sighed and looked back at the city where that dead girl now laid on the streets with her cold blood dripping onto the ground. I remember that one xweetok, the one who saw me kill her. His eyes were filled with sadness and pain. I remember him shouting out No! when I stabbed the girl.

When we got back, I found Lore sitting in the fields. I told my father I was going to go out for some air, he approved and I ran out to the fields to meet my friend. Lore was very happy to see me alive and well, but when I told him that I couldn't meet him anymore, he became sad but thought up a plan.

You can still see me! Only it would be when ever you have time or something" Lore said looking at me.
I admitted that, that would work and I could still see my best friend. So we both decided to try it out and see if it would work.
If I had known what was to happen next, I would of never said yes to that plan...

Soon I began to want to see Lore more than study or practice. My father began to wonder what was going on. He became angry and frustrated that I wasn't focus on my studies. I told him I was trying but I just wanted to play with my friend more than I wanted to learn how to kill someone.

Then one day as I asked my father if I could go gather somethings for my mother, I went out and started towards the field.
My father followed, but I didn't know

When I got back, he walked up to be with a file in his paw. I knew that I was going on my next mission.
Shayn, your next task is killing a mutant xweetok. His name is Lore, the people want him dead tonight" my father said, passing me the file.
I looked at his and saw it was indeed Lore, my best friend. "Ve-very well father" I stuttered looking at his address. I grabbed my weapons and went out find Lore and to warn him to leave.

I came across him sitting in the fields and when I told him that someone wanted me to kill him, I just couldn't do it. So I told him to lay low. I would only meet him when everyone is asleep and no one can see me. Lore agreed to this and he and I went our separate ways. I found an animals and killed it, taking the dagger to my father saying that the blood was Lore's.

My father thought this was a good thing. He smiled and thanked but when he saw tears in my eyes as if I couldn't handle it. He yelled and told me that an assassin never cares for anyone that they kill. If they do then they are not who they swore that they were. I nodded toward my father and walked away to find my mother and just cried. My mother just told me to cry and get rid of the pain. That was what I did. I could no longer see Lore, see his smiling face, hear his funny jokes or anything. Even though he wasn't dead, I had to pretend he was....

I looked around and saw my mother and father sleeping. I smiled to my self and quietly made for the door. I could see Lore only at the dead of night, when no one is around. As I opened the door, I must of not heard the creak it made but I closed it quietly and rushed towards the field. My father then awoke and check my room to see if I was asleep. He awoke my mother and grabbed his dagger.
Your going to kill her?!" My mother screamed.
No, but I am going to kill whoever she is with!" My father whispered harshly to her.

I was out chasing buttermoths with Lore. If you careful you can see that they catch the moon glow on their wings and sparkle like little stars. Me and Lore were having the greatest time ever. I didn't want to tell him that this would have to be our last meeting seeing how my father wanted to take me to a village where I could become a great assassin. I didn't want to tell him that I could no longer chase buttermoths, to gather the silver grass blades, play in the moon lit river, play snowball fights in the winter or just look up and gaze at the stars. I just couldn't tell him. It was hard, he had no family and I was his only real friend. To tell someone that you care about, that you can no longer see them is a very hard thing and you could almost never see that person again...

I have to go Lore...I'll try and be back tomorrow!" I called back giving him a hug then running back to my house where I quickly made it to my room and fell asleep. Little did I know that my father had gone out and told my mother never to tell me where he was going. I didn't ask, I thought he had gone to talk to the elders of the village.

That night I woke up screaming. Sweat made my fur stick to my skin, my blue eyes were wide with fear and my mother ran into my room. My dream was filled with pain, I saw blood and I saw Lore, I saw a dagger in my hand with blood dripping off of it. In my dream I killed him, "NO!" I screamed into the air with my mother holding me and telling me everything was going to okay. I closed my eyes but I could still see it. I didn't want to see it, I didn't want to see his blood! I didn't want to see him...

The night before I was to meet the other clan and train there I made way for the field. I didn't care who followed me I just wanted to see Lore and make sure he was okay. I waited all night, I saw the sun coming over the trees and he didn't come. I waited almost all day, others came up to me and asked me if I was okay, my only answer was leave me. I didn't want help, I wanted Lore.

Soon I realized that he wasn't coming. I felt tears rush from my eyes thinking that I would never see my best friend ever again. I hugged myself and thought was that the point if I could no longer see the one xweetok who helped me?

That was when I made the hardest choice of my life

I looked in and stole a small pack and packed it with things I would need. I could find food along the way so I wouldn't need it. My father made my name known that I was a fierce assassin, so if I needed money I would wait for someone to find me and make me kill someone. I wouldn't need others, I wouldn't need my parents. I kissed them both goodnight as this was very last time I would see them. And then I was off

I then scented blood, and I wanted to know what was the source and I found my father's dagger filled with deep dark red blood. And it was still fresh.
Lore! I thought as I started off to find my friend. I tried to follow him and then I saw blood dripping as if he had been carried away. I followed and then I saw the blood leading to an old garbage can.

I lifted to lid, to find my dear Lore bleeding and dead...

I took him out and held him in my arms, thinking that he would come back to life, but I felt the cold blood dripping out on my hand. Tears rushed to my eyes as I looked at his dead body, my one and only dearest friend was gone from this world. And I knew who took his life...

I carried him back to the field we played in, I buried a grave for him and set him in. I placed the silver grass we collected in those years on his grave and carved his name onto a stone. Then I turned around and faced my village. Sadness, anger, hate and grief filling me, telling me to take revenge on my friends death...

And I did just that.
