While wandering through the Willow Forest, you become separated from Guardian Koshka. You are unconcerned, for, judging from what she told you, it is a friendly enough place. There is nothing to worry about. But just as that thought is forming in your mind, you hear a soft growl. You pause, wondering where that came from. It comes again and you find yourself afraid. Your fears are soon grounded, for a moment later stepped out a large, pitch black kougra. This male was huge, or, at least, he seemed that way to you. He was powerful as well, with lean muscle rippling benieth his dark hide, which was marred only by a single long, pink scar, cut diagonally across his left shoulder. He growls again and you cringe, earning yourself a snide grin and and mocking chuckle. You raise your head and the male snorts, speaking in a low, gravelly voice. So another fool has wandered into the Forest. Pity, but its your fault, I suppose. So, whats your name and what are you doing here?" The thought of not answering never entered your mind. Heck, you're not a fool! This kougra wasn't one to be messed with. guest: "guest." You manage to answer without studdering, which was a feat of which to be proud. The male didn't seem to share that opinion, for he chuckled again, pacing about you slowly, just to see you wince.Well, seeing as you got separated from the Guardian, I suppose I can take you back to her, for I have no desire to see you about again. Follow me." You follow after him, trailing carefully behind, not wanting to tread upon his tail or anything of that nature. Your mind soon begins to wander, and you grow curious of this mysterious dark kougra. Almost as if on cue, a single blue-skinned sprite appears on your shoulder. She grins, but before you could cry out, she breaths softly upon you and disappears again, magically enlightening you about the stats of this strange male.
You open your mouth as if to start a conversation, but he beats you to it, a growl in his voice.Stupid Wild Folk. I'm not a fool, I know what she just told you." You blush, unsure as to what he was going to do to you now. But he simply sighed, speaking again, carefully not looking at you.Its not your fault. I realize this has only opened more questions for you, so I will answer some of them. On my own." He said this last with a slight growl, warning you to hold your tongue. You both walk on for quite some distance before he speaks again, his voice toneless and dead.My existance hasn't been one to really brag upon. I'll not go into my cubhood, but suffice to say that I never really had one. I've been on my own for as long as I can remember. I grew large and strong, training myself to become a fighter. Once I deemed myself strong enough, I lept into any war I could, fighting for hire as a sell claw, a fighter for hire." He smirked, but you couldn't see it, as you're walking behind him.I fought for gold. Not glory, as some idiots will praddle on about for hours. I don't care what anyone says. There is no glory in war." He paused again, but being curious and not wanting to interrupt him, you remain silent. The last war I was in was the war between Meridell and Darigan. Back in the war, the evil invading forces had paid me in gold to fight for their side. It didn't matter to me; good or evil back then, just so long as there was a fight to be fought and money at the end of the day. So fight I did and many a good pet had fallen to my raking claws and flashing teeth. All but one: Jeran." His hackles raised at this memory and there was a trace of a snarl in his voice, but he continued, calming himself, although not completely. It was him that gave me the scar I now carry on my shoulder. Before, there hadn't been one good enough to touch me, but I don't say that with any pride. I'll not bore you with the details of that fight, but enough to say that I was beaten and left, for there were others fights that needed Jeran's attention. In the ruckus, I lay there, bleeding slowly to death." He paused again, this time his voice coming softer, almost wistfully. But I welcomed it, glad that my worthless life had finally come to an end." He paused yet again, resuming wiht a normal voice.I'd blacked out, but, much to my disappointment, I had awakened again. I woke up in this forest with a female in attendance upon me. A white kougress with violet stripes and a kind disposition. She was the Guardian of this Forest and, unknown to me and a good many people, that battle had taken place nearby to Willow Forest. The magical Forest had hidden itself well and none in the battle knew of its presence, save the faeries and other magical beings. But Koshka and the other forest dwellers defiantly knew about the battle. And in that battle, Koshka had seen me fall. For some unknown reason, she had stepped forward and rescued me, bringing me away from the embrace of death that I longed for. So here I am, unable to leave until the debt between us had been paid." He sighed again, a sardonic tone in his voice.I might be a mercenary, but I've got my honor. That is a debt that I'll not leave unpaid, but it doesn't matter in the end. Even if I repay that debt, I'll never be able to wash the blood off of my paws..." I know you've heard about the others by now. I'm not alone in this forest." He smirked slightly. With the Wild Folk, its impossible. Anyway, heres a bit about the others, simply to give my own opinion on them." Koshka: "The Guardian of the Forest and Keeper of Secrets. It was she who saved my life and she who took my freedom." His hackles rose and a snarl was heard deep in his throat. For that I can only hate her." Taaki: snarlKoshka's brat. But he's gone now, so I don't have to deal with him anymore." Khari: "Keeper of those beastly Wild Folk. She's just like them, you know. Mischevious and annoying." I have met others while stuck in this forsaken place." He growls very softly in warning. They are not friends, so don't name them as such. Lets just call them aquantances." Starbeam: "Now she's a strange one, herself." smirkShe insists that theres something good inside of me, but I think she's an optimistic fool. Pity, really, but if thats how she chooses to think, let her delude herself. I don't care. But to be fair she is rather kind. Pity she doesn't understand it weakens her." This was a question you were rather reluctant to ask. I mean, even though the sprite told you that he was indeed in love, who could tell by looking at him? He was a brute, very rude, inhospitable... You continue making a list of his not-so-satisfactory faults when you notice him looking at you, smirkingSo I can not love, are those your thoughts?" guest: "No! Of course not..." You lie, not wanting to offend him He quirks and eyebrow at you. Crap, you don't think he bought it. But he chuckles deep within his throat, looking away with a soft sighAmazingly enough, even in the darkest of hearts light can shine. My light is my love, Rala. For her, I would lay down my life, if she only asked it of me." ![]() sigh Why anyone would wish to make an adoptable for me is beyond me, but there are those who have. Here they are, not that you or I care...
slight smile Once again, I don't understand why anyone would draw fanart for me, but it has been done. ![]() ![]() Links for your leaving pleasure. I would really appreciate you getting off my back..."
I'm sure the others would love for you to come back. But I don't care if you do or not. However, if you must, you must, I suppose."
You both walk on in silence for some time, but soon you both see a flash of white just beyond a tree. Smoke chuckles softly, turning his head to look at you.Theres the Guardian. Go back to her." With those words he turned and left you standing there alone. Well, there was nothing for it, you supposed. You then passed through the trees, meeting up once again with Koshka. | ||||||
