Concerning Hobbits

It would seem Hobbits have gained quite a bit of popularity over the past three years thanks to Peter Jackson's films based on the work of J. R. R. Tolkien. But it might just be that while some are fans of the films, they have never taken the time to read Tolkien's books and still don't know much at all about Tolkien's Hobbits or Elves or Dwarves.
This webpage is, as it is stated in the title, about Hobbits and I created it to tell some of you, that have yet to read any of Tolkien's works,a little about hobbits and also for those who are already familiar with the ways of hobbits and such and would like to know more. I myself don't know everything there is to know about hobbits. Of coarse, Gandalf did once say, Hobbit's really are amazing creatures, as I have said before. You can learn all there is in a month, and yet after a hundred years they can still surprise you at a pinch. (The Fellowhip of the Ring) So perhaps there is some hope for us.
I hope you all enjoy the information that I have been able to put up so far. I shall be adding more as I continue to research more into Tolkien's world. Enjoy.

What is a Hobbit?

I suppose hobbits need some description nowadays, since they have become rare and shy of the Big People, as they call us. (The Hobbit)

A short description of hobbits can be found in The Hobbit which simply states: They [hobbits] are (or were) a little people, about half our height, and smaller than the bearded dwarves. Hobbits have no beards. They are inclined to be fat in the stomach; they dress in bright colours (chiefly green and yellow); wear no shoes, because their feet grow natural leathery soles and thick warm brown hair like the stuff on their heads (which is curly); have long clever brown fingers, good-natured faces, and laugh deep fruity laughs (especially after dinner, which they have twoce a day when they can get it). Now you know enough to go on with.

Now I only wrote a description of what Tolkien wrote on their apperance. He does go on a little bit on their way of life but I'll get to that in a bit.

Well as you can see I have images kind of thrown around here and there but that's just because I'm trying to figure out the layout for all this and seeing where I like pictures and such. So this page gets updated almost all the time, I guess. Oh well. Oh, I guess I should put up this link so if you want to neomail me about anything, you can.
