Asra's Neodeck Collector Guide

Welcome guest to my page all about neodeck cards! Here I hope you'll find some useful information about neodeck cards, how to collect them and also sell them! If you have questions not answered here, please feel free to neomail me! My main account is Asrafrate and I'm always happy to talk neodeck! ^_^

A lot of people seem to think that neodeck cards are a waste of neopoints, but to be honest, they are actually a lot of fun to collect!
Not only do they feature some great art by the amazing team of Neopets Artists, but they have wonderfully useful information about the various and colourful characters in the Neopian World. You can also get some very nice avatars from some of the neodeck cards!
Need more of an incentive? Read these awesome Neopian Times Articles to get a better idea about neodeck cards, and why they're great to collect! Note these are ordered in chronological order, the oldest being the first:

Is there any way you can make an avatar for people who have a lot of Collectable Cards in their NeoDeck? I mean, there are avatars for Stamp collectors and for people with lots of items in their SDB. :) Olpbabe
I don't see why not :)

Could you please create a High Score table for us Neodeck Card Collectors? :) ~neomaniac1603
We don't see why not. We're a bit busy at the moment with the plot and upcoming content, but we have added it to our to-do list of DOOM.

Thankyou to canadagirl5823 for finding this article.
Could you perhaps make a high score table for the Collectable Card collectors? They've been around for so long, but never been given any credit. It would be lovely. Thanks. ~juney4
You're quite right! We can't let all those stamp collectors get the glory for their obsessiveness! We'll put it on our todo list and see if it's doable. :)

What is the difference between neodeck cards and TCG cards?

There is a huge difference! Neodeck cards are also known as Collectable cards, and they have been around for a long time. TCG stands for Trading Card Game, and these exist both in the Neopets game and in the "real world." In Neopets they can be placed in a TCG album, and in the real world they can be used to play the awesome card game that Neopets has created. To get TCG cards you can either buy them from a users' shop, or get one by redeeming a special code on the real world TCG bonus cards.

What neodeck cards are used for avatars?

The following neodeck cards can be used to gain avatars:

Avatar Card Name How to get the Avatar

Kasuki Lu Heeyah!

Kasuki Lu

To get this avatar you need to attach the neodeck card to your deck to get Kasuki Lu as a battledome challenger, then you need to beat her in the battledome.

Fire Kougra

Fire Paw

To get this avatar you need to place this neodeck card into your neodeck, and you will get the event saying you received the avatar after doing so.

Kiko Ninja

To get this avatar you need to place this neodeck card into your neodeck, and then visit this Neopedia Page.

How do I access my neodeck?

A link to your neodeck can be found off your user lookup. If you have never created a neodeck before, click here to create your first deck. Click on the My Deck link and give your album a name, and tada! Your first neodeck ^_^

What are the different types of cards?

Neodeck cards are determined by their rarity. The more rare it is, the harder it will be to get them. Each card is colour coded according to their rarity as described below:

Blue backs are Very Common, these make up the majority of cards available.

Estimated Price : 100-300 NP

Rare or Purple backed cards are very hard to find.

Estimated Price : 2,000-5,000 NP

Common or Red backed cards are slightly harder to come by than the Blue.

Estimated Price : 300-500 NP

Black backed cards are Very Rare. Be prepared to search a long time or pay a lot for these.

Estimated Price : 10,000-20,000 NP

Uncommon or Pink backed cards are the next rarity up from Red or Blue cards.

Estimated Price : 500-1,000 NP

Amazingly Rare, these cards are very, very special. You are fortunate to own a Gold backed card!

Estimated Price : 30,000-50,000 NP

Green backed cards are Quite Rare.

Estimated Price : 1,000-2,000 NP

Out of Print cards have a Holographic Back - these will never again be sold in shops!!! Hang on to them!!

Estimated Price : 100,000† NP

How do I start collecting neodeck cards?

Collecting neodeck cards is expensive, so you must be prepared to invest a large amount of time and neopoints towards them. Don't let that scare you off though! The first thing I tell people is to start slow. Buy up all the cheap cards and then slowly work your way up in terms of cost until you hit the point where all you have left to collect are unbuyable cards. Most of the neodeck cards available are buyable, so beleive me, by this point you'll have a very nice and large collection! Take your time if you're on a budget! When I started I bought 20 cards a week. They were all relatively cheap so it wasn't long before I was at the point where all I needed were the unbuyable cards.

Start off by collecting Blue cards, then Red, then Pink and then Green. These are usually the cheaper cards! Purple and Black cards are usually buyable, but often a bit more expensive.

Refer to the Spoiler list to see all the cards and which rarity/colour they are. Once you've bought all those cards, then start buying the more rare cards.
p.s. be adventurous and check the prices for all the cards, you never know, you might find a rare Gold card selling for cheap!!!

To make your lives easier, foxterrier66 has provided a full list of the cards and their approximate prices on her petpage. Please be aware that neodeck card prices do fluctuate.

Where do I buy neodeck cards from?

You can buy your neodeck cards from the Collectable Card Shop or you can buy it from the shops of other users useing the Shop Wizard. Sometimes you may find that some cards will be cheaper to buy from other users' shops, and other cards will be cheaper to buy from the Collectable Card Shop :)
You can also get neodeck cards by opening a Count Von Roo Booster Pack. These are gained by opening either a Halloween Goodie Bag or a Ghosty Trick or Treat Bag. You get 3 cards per booster pack, and sometimes you can get some very rare cards indeed! Note, you cannot get cards higher than r100 from the booster packs.

Alright, so I've collected all the buyable cards, now what?

This is when you decide whether or not you want to go the distance and get all the very rare neodeck cards. If you've reached this point I can almost gaurantee you've become a true neodeck collector and are perfectly ready to go the distance and get the rest!

My advice at this point is to daily check the Shop Wizard for the rare cards. Every so often one will pop up buyable, which is great because it means you get a rare card for cheap! Also, check the Trading Post often. Search for the cards you need and see if they are available for sale, and if so, what prices they are going for. Over time you will learn what the approximate cost of the cards are, and determine what price you are willing to pay.

Keep a list of the cards you need on your lookup or on a wishlist page if you have one, so that your friends will know what you want ;)

Do this, and beleive me, you will end up with a very very nice neodeck collection indeed. Check out the collections of the top collectors I've listed above for inspiration if you need it and trust me, if I can do it, anyone can!

I have some neodeck cards I'd like to sell, help?

The first thing you should do is search the Shop Wizard several times to see if it is priced there. If the card is buyable from the Shop Wizard, then place your card into your shop at a price that it will sell. If it does not appear on the shop wizard, check the Trading Post to see if anyone else is selling. See what their approximate prices are and place yours in trades around the same price. If there are none listed, check the rarity of your card. Is it r90 and above? If so then the card is most likely going to be unbuyable. Is the card r96 and above? If so then you've got a very very rare card indeed. If there are no prices listed in the Trading Post, you are welcome to list a price of your own, although it's a good idea to try and stick to the max being 800k unless your card is r99 and above. These extremely rare cards can demand very very high prices indeed. Feel free to neomail me if you do have one of these cards as prices do change.
Be sure to also check the list of collectors listed above. They may not have the card you are selling, so you may wish to neomail them and politely ask if they are interested in buying!

Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! Glitches ahoy!

Like everything else in this game, problems can occur with neodeck cards.
1) The neodeck card images are appearing broken on your deck list: Remove the card from the deck and then replace it back in again. This refreshes the image.
2) Where once there used to be a neodeck card, there is now a Green Apple: A long long time ago, bad people would duplicate items, and this included the more rare and expensive neodeck cards. TNT did a sweep through and all the duplicated items at the time were turned into Green Apples, or thats how the story went (need confirmation.) If you do find yourself with a Green Apple, leave it there and fill out a bug report, I don't know if TNT can do anything to fix the problem, but if you don't hear back from them, I'm sorry but you'll probably have to remove it and buy back a real legit version of that card :(
3) TNT has released a neodeck card, but it doesn't appear in my album or All Card list: When TNT announces a new neodeck card in the News, it is never "officially" released until you see it in as a blank space in your album, and listed on the All Card list. TNT has also been known to release a card, then replace that card with another new card e.g. on Illusen Day 2006 a new Illusen neodeck card was announced but never released, a few months later Jake the Explorer came out, and replaced the Illusen card in the deck numbering order.

Random facts you may not know...

Ok, I'll admit, I have a bit of an addiction for neodecks (as if you hadn't guessed!) and part of this addiction includes collecting neodeck 'lore.

- Did you know, The Marvellous Stretchy Chia neodeck card was released like any other standard neodeck card on the 28th February 2003, but is a rare holographic card? To date, no one has fessed up to owning one :(
- The Storyteller neodeck card is only given out as a prize every 100th storytelling competition.
- Alstaf Poogle is only given out as a prize every 100th poetry competition.
- The Merouladen and Heermeedjet neodeck card changes names once you place it into your neodeck, it becomes Meerouladen and Hermeedjet. A strange glitch that has been reported to TNT.
- Did you know, once upon a time, long long ago, neopets players could submit suggestions/drawings for the neodeck cards? Yup! Many of the earlier images on those neodeck cards were inspired/created by players just like us! ^_^

If you have any other random facts about neodecks I don't have, please neomail them to me!

Thats it from me, I hope what I have said has helped you. Goodluck!

Hopefully this page has answered your questions, if not, please feel free to neomail me. If the answer to your question is on this page though, I will not respond to your neomail.
