What is Maraqua you ask? Maraqua is one of the vast kingdoms Neopia holds; it is located under the water, north of Mystery Island. The first thing you will find is an amazing city made of maractite and coral, known as New Maraqua. New Maraqua was constructed after Scarblade and his Pirates destroyed the original city. What was the previous thriving underwater city is now known as the 'Ruins of Maraqua'.

If you are a shell or an underwater treasures collector, you will definitely want to keep
an eye on this shop! The restocks are very slow, and their time is unknown but it is
generally worth it.

Welcome to Kelp

The menus are at the top of the page. There are four different menus, each one contains many
succulent morsels from which you can choose. You may only select ONE item from each menu
so choose wisely...

Once you have chosen the foods you want, go to the Eat page and all of the items you
have selected will be listed there with the prices.

If you have a change of mind, you can remove items from your list by clicking the Delete button
on the Eat page. When you are ready for the meal, hit the Eat Your Food button and enjoy the
meal! If you are unable to finish the meal, we can arrange for you to take it home with you.

To get the Bon Appétit avatar you will need to have your pet bloated before entering the Kelp. Once inside the restaurant order the cheapest foods and then eat. Maybe just maybe you'll randomly take leftovers home, earning yourself the avatar. Bon appétit!

higher than what a user may price their item. This shop restocks every 14-18 minutes,
but remember, it's not ALWAYS worth to buy the Petpets from this shop.

The Ruins of Maraqua are all that is left from the original maractite city. It has a completely water desert, and the only things you will find there are a Fishing Spot and a mysterious Statue.

Ah... looking for a place to relax and enjoy other Maraquan's company? Yes? Then you
will love this place here for sure. The Fishing Spot or 'Underwater Fishing' is one of many
maraqua's attractions and it allows you to make your own catches by fishing 2/3 times a
day. At the beginning, when your pet's fishing skill is low, you might get some junk items;
but don't worry... with time your pet's skill will increase and you'll start to get some shiny
things. Who knows, maybe a bottle of the 'Flash of Rainbow Fountain Water'!

To get the Fishing - Titanic Squid avatar you simply need to catch a Titanic Giant Squid. However, your pet's fishing skill must be high enough in order to get one. For example, when blue got this avatar Akemi went from fishing level 85 to 86.

How odd... a statue of a faerie at the bottom of the ocean... I wonder how that got there?

It is indeed quite weird... and might have some purpose during the Darkest Faerie
plot... Until then nothing is known for sure, though it is rumored that this statue
was once a live faerie trapped a long time ago by the Queen Faerie, Fyora.

Now you will learn a little bit about the one and only Maraquan Plot, more known has ' The Curse of Maraqua'. It officially began on the 15th day of Running, year 7 and was over on the 10th day of Relaxing. This plot is mainly centered between two characters, Isca a Maraquan Aisha, who can foresee the future and warn King Kelpbeared from danger, and Garin a Pirate Usul with a true hunting spirit that has been leading his ship the 'Black Pawkeet' since his 15th birthday. During the plot, you will notice that a new city of Maraqua is being constructed after being destroyed by a group of pirates captained by Scarblade himself. He will not rest though until he has destroyed it once again, disturbed by the information of its sudden re-existence. Garin tries to save his stolen crew and ship and at the same time along with the help of Isca, will try to protect Maraqua from a new attack! You may think this has nothing to do with Maraqua but if you truly like Maraqua maybe you should read a few of these articles we selected from The Neopian Times. Of course this was done with full permission of the users who wrote the articles. I'm sure you won't be disapointed.

A Piece of Maraqua in Your
Dry Neohome
- Issue #232

by tashni

Ok, if you are raising Maraquan Petpets on your own Neohome or you are not too familiar with these mysterious creatures, I suggest you take a good look at this article and start your study. This includes the water temperature, water salinity, aquarium decoration, the habits and needs of each species and much much more. It indeed has all you need to know about the well being of your little Maraquan companion.

But of Course I'm on the
List!
- Issue #202

by mimed

This rather humoured article can show you how highly frustrating Kelp, the Maraquan Restaurant, can be. It manages to compile a "list," of methods for busting through Kelp's security system and scoring some great eats. If you always go by the rules though I won't advise you to read it, you might be shocked. But if you are constantly searching for new adventures, new challenges and new ways of eating free food then this article is for you.

Now I am sure you are wondering how to get a creature of Maraqua! The cheapest way, though most difficult, is to get the right zap from the original Secret Laboratory. If you are not into waiting though, you will need to buy a Maraquan Paint Brush and paint your pet with it. These Paint Brushes can be found in the Trading Post for something around 1.3mil to 1.7mil (1.300.000/ 1.700.000 NP). If you are lucky enough though, you can receive a lovely quest from the Fountain Faerie, or Jacko can even visit you!

If you are thinking about having a Maraquan pet but cannot decide which one, you can simply search all the available species on the bottom. The list is done for you in alphabetical order. Clicking bellow the pet's picture will direct you to the owner of one of these pets. A big thanks to all the neopians who let blue use their pet links but keep in mind, do not neomail the owners asking/begging for these pets, they are not up for adoption unless the owner says so!

The only Pets (not aquatic) that still do not have a Maraquan option are:

Bori - Chia - Gnorbu - Kiko - Kacheek - Lenny - Ogrin - Poogle - Ruki - Tonu

Usul - Wocky - Xweetok - Yurble

There is also one other way of getting a pet in this color. Morph your Pet into a Maraquan color by using of a Morphing Potion. For example, if you give a 'Maraquan Mynci Morphing Potion' to your Blue Pteri, your pet will transform into a Maraquan Mynci, he/she will not be a Pteri anymore. Although this is a more complex way of getting your pet, it is quite cheaper if one of your favorite Maraquan creatures is available through potion. You can find these potions at Kauvaras Shop (much cheaper yet difficult to buy) or the traditional Trading Post!

Maraquan Gelert Morphing Potion

Maraquan Korbat Morphing Potion

Maraquan Meerca Morphing Potion

Maraquan Mynci Morphing Potion

Maraquan Techo Morphing Potion

The same story goes for Petpets. You can buy one and then paint it with a Maraquan Petpet Paint Brush. The place to purchase one of these is the Trading Post. The prices of this paint brushes range from 125k to 150k (125.000/ 150.000NP). You can also get one of these Petpets if you get the right zap from the Petpet Laboratory.

There are currently 25 Petpets available in a Maraquan shade. You can see the complete list in their already painted form below.

    My Maraqua facts

. The food - Ocean Platter

I love fish more than anything, I remember that not too long ago me and blue went to Kelp, and she order this fish plate called Ocean Platter. That was the first and only time I eat the plate but I sure will never forget that taste.

    . The Character - Garin

I wasn't yet born when the Maraqua war began, but from what the Maraquan pets say to me Garin was the true hero of the victory of their side, even he being a pirate. He fully won my respect, but sometimes my sister says I'm completely found of him. Am I?

    . The Petpet - Marafin

I know, isn't he cute? I would love to have this petpet always by my side but blue says they are very rare and expensive if not entirely unbuyable. This petpet was a prize for the advanced Maraqua Supporters from the 'Curse of Maraqua' plot. Marafins can now be found in Galleries and nowhere else.

. The Toy - Maraquan Charger Plushie

From all the maraquan plushies the warriors are my favorites, but the Maraquan Charger plushie is the best of all. I have always liked Maraquan Unis and this plushie always makes my heart melt, squishy squishy Uni!

. The Furniture - Covered Isca Themed Bed

Blue promised me she would buy this bed for my room when she's done remodeling our neohome, and completing her main goals. Yes because you won't find these beds in any regular place, they are not that cheap you know. What were you expecting, a royalty bed made of gold and silk?

    . The Activity - Fishing

What's the best thing to do for a pet such as myself? Fishing of course. After we get up, the first thing me and my sisters do is to go to the Fishing Spot and see if we caught anything good. Akemi is better at doing this than me but she is always free to teach me some new tricks, besides if she caught any kind of fish she gives it to me, mmmm...

. The Weapon - Swift Maractite Darts

Battling isn't really my thing, but if I ought to choose a weapon I would pick the Swift Maractite Darts. But there aren't many options I can decide from since it's almost impossible to battle with a sword or a bow when you have flippers.

. The Game - Jubble Bubble

Because blue has Premium we can play the games that haven't been released yet, its called Betta Testing. That's what happen not too long ago, me and blue had so much fun playing Jubble Bubble that I eventually got addicted. It's nice to see some maraqua related games around here.
