A simple guide to help you guess correctly every time...

The Original Lunar Temple Guide

Welcome guest to the Original Lunar Temple Guide!

The above picture is a link to the Lunar Calendar!

Introduction

Hello guest, I will be your guide to the Lunar Temple and give you as much help as I possibly can. Hopefully, by reading through this guide you will be able to make the correct guess at the Lunar Temple every single time. I'm really working hard to get this petpage up in a hurry and I'll work more on the layout later but this is good enough for now. Please read on, and be careful as I'm still editing!

If you have any questions at all on the guide, feel free to neomail me as I am online often and you usually will get a very quick response.

News and Updates

Want to improve this guide, or you think it needs something more?
All suggestions are greatly appreciated. ;)

27th April 2008: Eeek. :o I accidentally messed up the petpage while editing two at once - saving this page with half the code missing! Luckily google has a cached version of this petpage, but it messed up the "Link To Us" section and several other finer points to the petpage. I just got it up as fast as I could though. Next time I'll make back up copies of the code. Anyway, I'll try to fix the missing sections as soon as I can and if any of you find something else missing, in error or just not working (images, text, links) as before, please neomail me.

16th March 2008: Wow. It's been a little over a year since I've updated this page thoroughly. I haven't been as active with it as I might have hoped but I just wanted to let you know that I've fixed the few broken images lying around on the page. A few more applications for affiliations are open and I'm really sorry for anyone who neomailed me in the past year or so concerning this page and I didn't neomail them back. Feel free to send another neomail and I'll try and address your query or application as soon as I can. Thanks everyone.

7th March 2007: Really sorry... I've been very busy over the last few weeks everyone. I'll try and update the guide over the weekend and fix all the problems that you neomailed in about. Thanks so much, from Ethan. ;)

25th Febuary 2007: Happy weekend everyone! With the glitch fixed (see last update for details) there doesn't seem to be any more problems with the formula or getting the correct answer. If you do, however, experience any glitches, please neomail me so I can spot any trends and try and figure out a solution. Thank you Starried for listing us on your site also. It is greatly appreciated!

21st February 2007: I received a really good neomail today from a member of TNT. Thanks to the The Neopets Team, the error that some people were neomailing me in about (348.75 - 360 not being number 9 when it should be) is all fixed up without anymore problems. Our formula works 100% now and the guide is updated accordingly. For more information see the little blue box in the easy solution section. As always, please neomail me if you have any problems. Thank you TNT for helping so much. ;)

16th February 2007
Today is the Shenkuu Lunar Festival. The Neopian News is updated with a strange lunar temple, that inside has a wise Gnrobu. He asks you to translate a Lunar Calendar, and in return will give you a prize for your efforts. The prize is random and it is suspected that this is now a daily event, such as collecting Bank interest and telling King Skarl a joke...

And so this guide is first created.

If you are facinated by the moon you might enjoy a visit to the Lunar Temple.

Disclaimer

Just as a small side note, I would just like to point out that all the information is found out by me, with lots of help from people like akashic (some buttons were not created by me though). Please do not steal my coding, my page layout, copy/edit my images to make them your own or try to make out that you created this page in any way. That is stealing and very wrong.

If you use any information or images from this page I will have to report you for theft if you do not already have prior permission from me. Please neomail me and ask before you do anything that you think might break these rules, thank you. ;)

Thank you so much for visiting my page!

The Easy Solution

Mathematical

Firstly, go to the Lunar Calendar page where you submit your guess here.

View the source code on the Lunar Calendar page (source code is just the html code). To do this you must click View on your browser's toolbar and then on the pulldown menu choose Source if you are using internet Explorer or Page source if you are using Firefox.

Then, in the source code window, search for the word Kreludor by pressing Ctrl + F (or Edit then Find) and typing Kreludor into the box. There is a short number after that which might look something like this:

pia=73&angleKreludor=89&viewID=

The only part you need to worry about is 89, or the part in red. Put that number into a calculator. If you would like to use a really handy Neopets calculator, just use this link. Thanks raichu288 for information about the Neopets calculator. ;)

If your number is under 180, you should add 202.5, but if it is above 180, you need to minus 157.5. After getting the result from that, divide your answer by 22.5 and you should get a number.

Thanks akashic for this formula!

Each number corresponds with the table below, like so:

If you get a number such as 15.2, the number is 15. And if you get a number like 6.5, the number is 7. Please round up all your answer. If it is .49 and below, round down, if it is .50 and above, round up to the next number.

Also, if you get a number 16.5 or above that, it is just 1. ;)
Example 1

My number = 89

89 is smaller than 180...

89 + 202.5 = 291.5

291.5 / 22.5 = 12.95

12.95 rounded = 13

13 = Last Half of Moon.
Example 2

My number = 207

207 is larger than 180...

207 - 157.5 = 49.5

49.5 / 22.5 = 2.2

2.2 rounded = 2

2 = Waning Crescent Moon.

Non-mathematical

These are the the instructions from part one of the easy solution. All you need to do is follow this like before, but this time you do not need to use maths. Here you go:

Firstly, go to the Lunar Calendar page where you submit your guess here.

View the source code on the Lunar Calendar page (source code is just the html code). To do this you must click View on your browser's toolbar and then on the pulldown menu choose Source if you are using internet Explorer or Page source if you are using Firefox.

Then, in the source code window, search for the word Kreludor by pressing Ctrl + F (or Edit then Find) and typing Kreludor into the box. There is a short number after that which might look something like this:

pia=73&angleKreludor=89&viewID=

The only part you need to worry about is 89, or the part in red.

Here a a table for those who don't like maths. Just match up your source code number using the steps above and then choose the moon number that corresponds with your source code number:

0 - 11.24 = 9
11.25 - 33.74 = 10
33.75 - 56.24 = 11
56.25 - 78.74 = 12
78.75 - 101.24 = 13
101.25 - 123.74 = 14
123.75 - 146.24 = 15
146.25 - 168.74 = 16
168.75 - 191.24 = 1
191.25 - 213.74 = 2
213.75 - 236.24 = 3
236.25 - 258.74 = 4
258.75 - 281.24 = 5
281.25 - 303.74 = 6
303.75 - 326.24 = 7
326.25 - 348.74 = 8
348.75 - 360 = 9

Error Notice: The glitch is fixed! 348.75 - 360 should be number 9, instead of number 8 like it has been for the last couple of days. Thank you! ;)

The Original Solution

Step 1

First of all, take a screenshot of the page with the Lunar Calendar in the screen and open up the image in an image editing program (MS paint or Photoshop). Then place a small dot right in the centre of Neopia and the Sun. Draw a Line from each dot - this is the line of light. If you have completed that and it looks like the image above, continue on...

Step 2

Next, seperate the outer-circle ring with 8 lines, which eventually form 16 spikes. The first line should be from where the original line is (the line that was from Neopia to the Sun) and should be seperated equally like so. The ends of the spikes point to different phrases and you should note that the position of the spikes differ from each position of the Sun and Neopia...

Step 3

Next, you have to number each of the 16 spikes. First, you start off with the "New Moon" which is number one on my diagram. If you are unsure which spike to make number two, press the little moon and it should spin a certain way. The way it spins should be the way that your numbers rise. Example: If the moon spins to the left, number two should be the first spike to the left of number one and so on. If you understand this number each spike and continue on...

Step 4

Which spike is nearest to your moon? That spike should have a number next to it if you have done all the steps up to here. Write down that number and move on to the next and final step. On my diagram the moon is on number 16 (choose the spike which is the closest - it is not always pinpoint accuracy). Please move on...

Step 5

The number that the moon is next to corresponds with a phase, like so. Please match the number you got and you should get it correct! Horrah! ;) Here is the list:

Congratulations!
