~~^~~INTRO~~^~~

There you are, out exploring the deep jungles of neopia. Ah, what a beautiful sight it is. Butterflies landing on large, tropical plants. You close your eyes, breathing in a deep sigh as the scent of tropical flowers fill your nostrils. Your ears catch the faint, yet steady sound of a cascading waterfall nearby. The water splashing hard against the rocks.
~That might be good~
You think to yourself as your eyes open, body turned towards the source of the sound. Your feet seem to be walking on their own as they lead you to the waterfall. There it was, seeming to fall down from the sky as it crashed onto the smooth, gray stones below. The water was crystal clear, having almost a green, aquamarine tint to it as the sun shone down. You smile, walking over and taking off your shoes. You roll up your pants, dipping your, just noticed, acking legs into it's cool waters. A sigh of relief comes to you as you lean your head back, closing your eyes as you sit back, just letting the sun warm your face.

Suddenly, there is a sound from behind you. Your tranquility was broken as you turn around sharply, eyes darting back and forth for the source of the distration. Yet, nothing comes to your ears. You look on for a few moments longer, and then shrug, thinking it no more then a stray wind in the trees. As you turn around, you are quickly proven wrong. There, before you sits a large, odd looking bird type animal. She is about the size of a turkey, containing feathers about the same hue as one, all over her body, yet her face looked like that of a lizard. It was pale and leathery, as were her feet, and the three clawed apendages on her wing bends. Brown tips of feathers lead to beautiful transisting shades of green on her wings and tassle. She whips her tassle towards your view with a lizard like stump on the end of it. Then, there on the very edge of the feathers lay a marking, almost like that of an eye upon her tail. The outline black, yet the inside was a beautiful, shimmering blue-green in hue.
I hope you enjoyed my pool human, but now you must leave. I do not take kindly to your species.
The creature said in an enchanting, yet forceful voice. Small, pointed teeth hung from under her lip as her bright, orange eyes stared deeply into yours.

Snapping back to attention you get up, wet feet now dripping a puddle under you on the grassy earth.
Oh my! I'm sorry...I-I didn't know this was your pool.
You say hurriedly as you collect your things, an applogetic feature all over your body it seemed. The odd creature snorted as it's nostrils flared slightly, shimmering talons digging into the earth.
Cooperative. I like seeing that in a human. Most only shoo me away.
She suggested, almost as if she was trying to take a slightly formal tone to ease your worry. You look back to her, smiling kindly as you start to put your shoes back on, water still dripping from your bare feet. You want to say something, but before you can, the creature looks to you, tilting it's head in a curious manner.
Human, where do you come from? How did you find this place?
She asks, intrested in how a mer human had found HER pool.
Oh, I was just wandering about and heard this waterfall.
You explain, guesturing to the still spraying falls beside you as the sight of it made you smile all the more. The creature nodds, understandingly.
I see....I suppose then..You are a listener, eh?
She asks, a slight glimmer in your eyes. You look back to her, confused slightly, yet you put a hand behind your head, looking embrassed, feeling complemented somehow.
I guess so..
You say, nodding and looking back to her as you once again admire her unqie stature and colors. The bird/lizard seemed to be exicted about this.
Well then, we have some in common. Come, I shall allow you to stay and enjoy my pool on one condition...you listen to my story. The one that has been forgotten for millions of years, and yet told all through history.
She said, fluttering her wings as her claws grapsed your shoe string, motioning for you to take your seat back down by the waterfall.

You smile, looking back down to her with exictement and intrigue.
Alright! I'll listen..

~~^~~PAST~~^~~

Well, all of this started millions of years ago in this very forest. Even though it may look similar to the one you have wandered in today, it was quite different. The animals, the trees, and the size was all different. As you may have been wondering, I am actually a kind of Pteri, a long ago race, even before the orginal ones in Tyrania. We were called the Archea-Pteris and had evovled for the more lush forest life style then our younger cousins in the plains. We were a wonderous race that used to thrive here..until the discovery of our lush and bountiful land caught the eyes of a rival species, the Alden-boars, or the ancestor or modern day Moehogs. They destoryed our nests, ate and chased away our food supply, and forced us to move deeper and deeper into the sucluded part of the jungle. There..little of us could survive and so competition for food was harsh.

The leader of the Archea-Pteri clan, Sergaku, knew that their life styles could not survive on a "kill or be killed" basis, and so he told the Archea-pteris that they must move away from this jungle, less they become extinct. Most of the Pteris went with him, yet some stayed behind, not wanting to leave their anscteral home that they had claimed as their own.

And so, they dwelled there, living in secret away from the world, knowing nothing of its happenings. Until one day..the day I was born. I was born to the great great great grandson of Sergaku, Merage, and his mate Serlou. I was a wonderful triumph in the roost, for I was the first born in many long months. They whole clan rejoiced, celebrating my birth and forgetting their troubles. I was alive only a few weeks for the rejoicing, thinking it a wonderful time. Yet...this was to be their downfall.

Shortly after the rest of the roost had settled down to rest after the first day of my birth, there began to be new sounds to the forest. These, over the weeks, became no more then routine sounds. We thought it nothing, just another sound of the night..but we were wrong. One night, the loud rummbleing that had insuded for weeks, was close this time. It seemed to shake the whole forest, awakening the pteris. From the bushes crept a large, horrid metal creature that was consuming the tress around us. It destoryed our homes and our land, breaking through the jungle underbrush. My family didn't know what to do. I was still to young to fly yet, and they could not move the nest on their own. The other pteris, that had been so loyal to their leader, had now fled, saving their own skins, or so they thought. My mother, in the scramble to get away, had been seperated from my father and I. The metal monster was getting ever closer, and we were running out of time. So, my father did the only thing that he had known to do. He sheilded me. He covered my fragile young body with his, protecting me from the force of the metal monster. I didn't know what was happening, and before I could do anything more, it grew dark.

When awoke, hours later, there lay my father, spralled out on the ground, looking so weak..and helpless. I blinked twice, getting out of the nest to stummble over to him, nudging him with my snout. He didn't move. I tried again, this time letting out a plaintif cry for him. There was no answer, no movement. My father was dead. I was too young at the time to grasp this, so I moved onward_, still doddling along on my unbalanced wings, falling to the ground many times. I searched in vain, none of my roost had survived. I was the only one left alive from that metal monster..

I still remain alone to this day, never really knowing if they are alive or not. Perhaps..the others that ran away were still off somewhere..waiting for me to find them.
You looked to her, seeing her sullened expression as your showed a sympathic gleam to it.
I"m sorry..
You say to her, looking to her as she preened her feathers.
There is no reason to be sorry...You were not the one held responsiable. I was very young at the time and so didn't really understand much that went on. This made me feel vulnarable. And so, in an attempt to quell this..I have pledged to know as much as I can about anything, never wanting to be disadvantaged again by my own navity. Unforutantly..I still no nearly nothing of the outside world..my fear of the metal monsters that you humans use keep me from my quest. Yet..I stay here..listening to all that is around me. When I listen..I can learn all there is to know..So I will continue to listen..until I can truely understand..

Alas, I am the last of my forgotten race, ever to exist alone. But once, we were a proud civilzation, dwelling the depths of Mystery island. We are quite different for your regualr 'pteris' that you may see around. As you can see, we have lizard-like faces and tails. We have much larger and different feather structures, as well as our second sets of claws. We use these extra apendages for advantages in the trees. With them we can hang on the bark, stay still and blend in with our surroundings and help us to climb easily and jump from tree to tree to catch our prey. For you see, our race does not fly. We use these feathers to soar and glide, we do not have the right struture and ablities needed to fly, as of yet. But yes, our race is the ancestors of all living pteri's today. We, the mighty Archea-pteris shall live on forever in the hearts of true believers and listeners, yet we shall be forgotten by the willess ones that shun our ancestory.

~~^~~FRIENDS~~^~~
None..

~~^~~FAMILY~~^~~

Ah..this is an intresting bunch. There are very many of us, though I myself have only been introduced to two by Sakura. What characters they are...

This is Estal, the 'lifeguard Uni' he calls himself. He has...a odd way of talking, though I find it hightly interesting. Pestering him about out is a great past time of mine, though I don't call it pestering, I am just very inquisitive. Still, he is very fun to be around, even if he thinks I am a downer. My out look on my lonely and depressing life can be....cold sometimes.

This is Froest. He is also a joker, such as Stal, but not quite as extreme. He is the only one ever who has managed to get me to laugh..though you didn't hear it from me. I am not the 'fun loving' type, but his lupe is quite the persuader. He is fun to be around, always hyper and cheerful. Almost too cheerful if you ask me..

~~^~~LOVE~~^~~

This thing...called love..I have never felt it. My family died when I was very young, leaving me to live the world alone, with no help from anyone or anything. So, solitude is all I know. The companionship of others..isn't a nesscary thing I believe..so I am fine. Myself is all I need. Myself..and my home

~~^~~LEAVING~~^~~

You look to the pteri as she stretched out her wings, her clawed apendages curling around the plam. She sighs, yawning slightly as the orange rays of the setting sun seem to mix with her deep, emptyless eyes. She sees your glancing, giving you a sharp stare, making you turn away suddenly.
Do you require something of me human?
She asks as her feathered, lizard-like tassle flicked some, wings folding back to her sides. You look back to her, head moving up to see the sun, slowly setting.
Well...I would like to know the way home. I seem to have..lost my way back.
You utter, standing up as Myaloki looks up to you, nodding faintly.
Yes, your presence wouldn't be tolerated here after dark..
She uttered, her tone changing a bit as she hopped over towards you, her wings fluttering out some to keep her aloft for a few seconds.

Thankful that she would take the time to do this, you follow her odd hobbling as you try to meanuever through the underbrush, pushing apart leaves and branches that blocked your path. You remain silent as the darkness creeps in around you. Starting to get a little nervous you walk faster, almost bumping into your guide. She looks back to you, slightly annoyed, yet it seems to quell as she stopps, fluttering into the trunk of a nearby tree, clinging on effortlessly.
Well then. Here you are, and not a moment to soon..You better hurry home guest..
She states, looking at you with glowing eyes in the dim light of the moon. You start to walk forward, but then a thought came to your mind. How did she know your name? You hadn't said it earlier..Yet, as you turn around to ask, she was gone.

Lingering for a few seconds you look deep into the forest, as if trying to glance any movement that the strange pteri might make. Sighing, you eventually move on, walking down an empty path that you believe is the way home..
