| Hi, my name is MaxTheDog_459, and I am a Gelert, already 56148 hour old! My mom's name is perfectvelvet, and she is the best owner ever!! I have one sister, Aria_459, and two brothers, Macie_459 and Ambrosia_X. Aria is a disco Zafara, Mac is currently a red Nimmo, and Ambrosia is a ghost Chomby who Mom adopted! I used to be a blue Gelert, but I was painted baby by the beautiful Fountain Faerie on the 10th day of Hunting, Y6 (May 10, 2004). |
My mom likes to go to the Avatar Board and Help Board to try to answer questions for other Neopians. By doing this, she realized that almost everyone asks the same questions every time! So she's decided to let me make a really cool FAQ (that stands for 'frequently asked questions') to help all of you! (If you have secret avatar questions, check out my brother Ambrosia's pet page; click here to see it!)
How do I make money fast?
I can't play games because I don't have a Flash player.
No one will buy from my shop! or No one will offer on my trade!
I'm poor; could you give me....? or Could you donate something to me?
Will you join my guild?
Where do I buy/find a paint brush?
How do you get dubloons/codestones?
What is a red codestone?
Who or what is Boochi?
What is the Lab Ray and how do I get one? How much is it?
How many codestones are there and what are their names?
How do I get red codestones?
What is restocking? How do I do it successfully?
How much is this item worth? or Should I accept this trade?
How do I add carpeting or security systems to my NeoHome?
- Play games! This is the number one, easiest way to get lots of np. There are over 100 games for you to try - I'm sure there is one that you are good at! Another way to earn money is to open a shop and sell items. If you buy them in the regular Neopian shops and sell them at a higher price than you bought the item for, you will make money!
- Ask your parents to download the Flash player for you. Otherwise, there are several games you can play without Flash, such as Pyramids, Negg Sweeper, and Sakhmet Solitaire.
- Are your prices fair? Just because you bought the item at a certain amount or the estimated value is a certain amount, that doesn't mean Neopians are going to buy it at that price! For example, the estimated value of a Voidberry is 7,000 np. If you try to sell it for 7,000 np, you will be waiting a long time because other Neopians are selling the Voidberry in their shops for as little as 10 np. Check your prices against the shop wizard or other trades to see if you are offering Neopians a fair deal.
- The answer all around Neopia is NO. Asking any questions like these will only get you reported. No one will give you neopoints, cures, paint brushes, etc. Everyone in Neopia earns their money by playing games. Find a game you're good at, and soon the money will be rolling in and you won't be poor any more!
- If you wish to invite people to your guild, please post this message on the Guild Board. People who want to join a guild generally go there. Asking this question on the Help Board or Avatar Board is inappropriate.
- You can find them in other Neopian's shops (but if they are 100,000 np or higher, they are unbuyable). Check the Trading Post and Auctions, too. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you can win a paint brush from the Wheel of Monotony, the Fruit Machine, or find one randomly on the site. Also, you can get a paint brush by referring 10 people to Neopets.
- You can find them randomly on the site, in the trades, in auctions, or in user shops. Coltzan's Shrine may also give away dubloons.
- Red codestones are used to train pets that are level 250 or higher.
- Boochi is a baby Bruce that might zap your pet and turn it into a baby! It's a very rare random event.
- The Lab Ray is a piece of equipment you can access once per day by having all 9 map pieces for the Secret Laboratory Map. When your pet is zapped, its stats may change (for good or bad) or your pet might change gender, species, or color. What happens is random. A full lab map set costs anywhere from 450k - 500k. (If you want to see what has happened to my sibling Mac/Macie at the lab, go here! It's a diary, ooooh...)
- There are 10 codestones (not counting the red ones) and they are Eo, Main, Tai-Kai, Lu, Zei, Orn, Vo, Bri, Mau, and Har.
Take one of each of the 10 regular codestones (see above for names) and go to the Volcano.
- Restocking is a great way to make neopoints! The premise is simple: buy something cheap and sell it for more than you paid! Compare the price you paid to the current price in the shop wizard to see if you'll be making a profit. Do not overprice, as no one will buy anything. A few good items to restock that you can get for free (Coltzan's Shrine, random events, Tombola, Scorchy Slots, etc.) include codstones, bottled faeries, dubloons, and map pieces. Books ALWAYS sell in the user shops for more than they sell in the Book Store. Some food (not omelettes, jelly, or berries) tends to sell higher as well.
- Go to the shop wizard to check the price of an item. If it is 100k or more, then it is considered unbuyable and you have to check the price on the Trading Post. See what the going rate for the item is and sell/trade yours in that price range. If someone is offering more than one item, follow those steps and add up the total amount.
- Go to your NeoHome and click on 'Extension Options'. Some options are only available after you've built a certain number of rooms, so you may not see lighting or security if your home is small.
Can my Neopet die if he is sick or very hungry?
How many Neopets can I have?
How do I create a Neopet?
How do I adopt a Neopet?
How do I abandon a Neopet?
How do I paint my Neopet?
How do I make my Neopet a mutant?
What does limited edition mean? How do I create a limited edition pet?
My pet is sick and I can't afford the medicine! What do I do?
How do I increase my pet's maximum hit points?
How do I train my pet?
My pet is depressed! What do I do to make him happy again?
My Neopet doesn't like the petpet I gave it! What do I do? or My Neopet won't eat this food!
My pet turned red/blue! What happened?
- No, your Neopet can never die. (Thank goodness!)
- You can have up to 4 Neopets, but remember, each of us need tender loving care!
- Click on Create a Pet and follow the instructions.
- Click on Pet Central and then on the crying Bruce; he will take you to the Pound. Then choose Adopt and cycle through until you find your new Neopet!
- Why would you want to do that?!? We don't like being abandoned, but if you really, really have to abandon us, please take us to the Pound so someone else can adopt us. Click on Pet Central and then on the crying Bruce, then choose Abandon.
- The most common way is to buy a paint brush (make sure the pet you want to paint can be painted in that color!), then take him or her to the Rainbow Pool. I was painted after my mom completed a Fountain Faerie quest. Other pets have been painted and actually had their species changed by visiting the Secret Laboratory. You can also paint your Neopet or change its species by buying a Morphing Potion or Transmogrification potion.
- Have your pet drink a Transmogrification Potion.
- Limited edition means that only a certain number of them were created. Pets like Chombies, Krawks, Kois, and Jetsams can only be adopted from the Pound, or you can change one of your current pets using a Morphing Potion into the pet you want to have.
- First of all, don't worry. Your pet cannot die. Take your pet to the Healing Springs every 30 minutes. This is free - there is no better deal! The kind faerie may not heal your pet right away, but eventually your pet will be cured! (I have found that it helps to have your sick pet as the active pet.) Another possibility is spinning Heal on the Wheel of Excitement. This is much more rare, but if you happen to land on Heal, all of your pets will be fully healed (from diseases and hit points). Also, after one month, your pet will heal itself - but watch out! If we are too depressed from being sick, we might turn blue!
- Train your pet in endurance, or certain faeries may bless your pet after completing a quest, or the lab ray may increase your stats.
- Take your pet to the Mystery Island Training School or the Swashbuckling Academy on Krawk Island. You will have to pay codestones on Mystery Island and dubloons on Krawk Island in order for your pet to be trained. Then select what you want your pet to be trained in, pay, and the training begins! Don't forget to go back when it's done to complete the course! And for me, on Gelert Day, I get free training, so check to see when your pet's special day is!
- By making sure we are well-fed and healthy, we are generally happy. However, if you don't pay much attention to us, we can get very depressed. Try giving us our very own petpet; we like them! Or read to us, groom us, and give us toys to play with. That should cheer us up!
- We don't like petpets or items that have the same number of letters in their name as we have in ours. (My mom once gave my sister, Macie_459, an Angelpuss and a Puppyblew, and Macie didn't like either of them because she has 9 letters in her name - Macie_459 - and they have 9 letters in their name!) There are other things we don't like, too, but this is a sure way to tell whether or not we will like the food or petpet.
- If we are left unattended, we may get angry or sad. If we get angry, we might turn red. If we get really sad, we could turn blue. Maybe you should play with us more!
I'm doing a quest for the Brain Tree. When and where did _________ die?
How do I get a Faerie quest?
I've got the item the faerie wants; where do I go to give it to her?
I've completed a Fountain Faerie quest; where do I go to paint my pet?
How many of Edna's Quests do I have to complete before I get the avatar?
- The Brain Tree questions and answers are random. In order to find the answers, you have to do two Esophagor quests. Write down the answers that he gives EXACTLY as they appear. These quizzes can be expensive, and if they are, don't do them. They usually aren't worth the neopoints.
- They are random events. Quests for Illusen, Jhudora, and the Snow Faerie can be done at any time.
- If it is a quest for Illusen, Jhudora, or the Snow Faerie, you must return to their resting place. As for the other faeries, you must take it to Faerie City to the Faerie Quest house.
- You must go to the Rainbow Fountain in Faerieland. That's how I got to be a baby Gelert!
- Sorry, but it's random. Mom got hers on her first try, but she's talked to other Neopians who have done hundreds of quests without luck.
The Wheel of Monotony keeps spinning! Will it ever stop?
What is the link to find out how long until the Wheel of Monotony stops spinning?
How do I get a good score in Test Your Strength?
What is a good joke to make the Grumpy Old King laugh?
What are some cheeses for the Cheeseroller?
What is the Symol Hole?
- The definition of monotony is "tedious repetitiveness". According to TNT, it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours to stop spinning. If you don't have the time to wait, I would suggest not spinning the Wheel.
http://www.neopets.com/prehistoric/monotony/wheel_mono_get_prize.phtml. Remove the last three zeroes and divide by 60. You have to open this in a new browser window; if you close the window where the Wheel is spinning, it will stop!
- It's random.
- It's random. I have heard that if you tell him a joke after he's eaten, he's in a better mood.
- Some that I know are: Spicy Juppie Cheese (150np), Smoked Snorkle Cheese (300np), Triple Mustard Cheese (450np), Honey Cheese (600np), Big Beefy Cheese (750np), Purple Spotted Cheese (900np), Brain Cheese (1050np), Alkenore Cheese (1200np), Mutated Cheese (1350np), Bubbling Blueberry Cheese (1500np), Tyrannian Dung Cheese (1650np), Quadruple Fudge Cheese (1800np), Brick Cheese (1950np), Gooey Snot Cheese (2100np), Peppermint Cheese (2250np), Overgrown Cheese (2400np), Heavy Bark Cheese (2550np), Warty Blue Cheese (2700np), Fragrant Ummagcheese Cheese (2850np), Furry Chocomint Cheese (3000np).
- It is a fun little hole that your petpet can jump down! Cuddles, my Snowbunny, loves the Symol Hole! Sometimes, if your petpet is really lucky, he or she might find some neopoints or an item!
What kind of trophies can I get for battling in the battledome?
- If you defeat Punchbag Bob, you get a neat trophy (Mom has one in her userlookup). If you participate in a war (we have fought in two!), you will get a trophy for your userlookup. Lastly, if you are playing Defenders of Neopia and defeat the enemy at large, you will get a trophy for that mission.
I've complied a list of things you can do daily that doesn't cost you anything. How cool is that?

Where did the General Chat go?
What happened to glow / shadow / sparkle fonts?
Where can I go to chat about topics other than Neopets?
Do chain letters work? You know, the ones that say 'Post this message 10 times in 10 different boards and you will get a paint brush'?
How do I change my avatar / default font / siggy on the Boards?
- TNT took it off the site because people were abusing it and making offensive and illegal posts. P.S. Don't bother petitioning for its return - TNT has said they will never bring it back!
TNT got rid of them because only Internet Explorer users could see them.
- You can't chat about anything other than Neopets. If people hadn't broken the rules of Neopets, there wouldn't still be a General Chat Board. There are some boards that are more tolerant of general chats, but if you decide to post a non-Neopets message, remember that you can get frozen!
- NO! This is NOT a Neopets code, and the only thing you will get by posting a chain letter is reported and possibly frozen!
- Go to Boards, then click on Chat Preferences.
My account has been hacked! What do I do?
Where do I go to report someone/something?
How do I remove my account?
How do I get more secret avatars?
Where is this place called JellyWorld?
- Neopets is a very safe site, and your account cannot be hacked. You were likely scammed. It's very unfortunate that people are trying to take advantage of good Neopians. You should contact the Neopets Team immediately.
- Go to the Contact Us page and choose what type of offense you are reporting.
- Go to the Contact Us page and choose Remove Your Account.
- Check out my brother Ambrosia's pet page. He keeps his page updated with all the secret avs whenever they come out (and he learns how to get them).
- It's a big secret, huh? Just put /jelly/ after you put http://www.neopets.com and you'll get there.
What is a nOOb?
Who/what is TNT?
What is an HCer?
What do the numbers 1 3 3 7 mean when they're put all together?
What does k mean, as in 5k?
- First off, a nOOb is NOT a newbie. A newbie is someone who this FAQ is made for! They are new to Neopets and need help. A nOOb, on the other hand, is a Neopets player (could be a new player, could be someone who has been playing for months or years) who breaks the rules. nOObs try to scam other players, beg, cheat, steal, hack, spam, post chain letters, etc.
- TNT stands for The Neopets Team and refers to the site's creators.
- HC stands for Help Chat, so an HCer is one who answers questions on the Help Chat.
- That is chat-speak for LEET, which means elite. An elite is someone who thinks they are better than everyone else.
- k stands for thousand, so 5k is 5,000.
Thanks for visiting my FAQ page! I worked pretty hard on it, but I'm sure I didn't answer all of your questions. (A little thanks to the following Neopians for their kind suggestions: megafen2003, catzeye211.) If you can think of anything else, send my mom perfectvelvet a Neomail, and she'll find the answer and add the question to this list. Thanks again, I hope to see you soon!
