[Guide] ~ [Link to Me!] ~ [Affiliates] Have you ever seen a gorgeous glittery image but you have no idea on to make one? Well this guide is all about making a glitter image in Adobe Photoshop! (with some help from ImageReady) I made this guide as easy to understand as possible, so enjoy and dont forget to link to me!
Get Photoshop, and ImageReady will be installed along with it.
First start by opening your program (duh). Then choose an image from the neopets site, or any image really. For this guide I took the water faerie shopkeeper. Now open it up, and choose the spot where you want to be glittery:
Use the selection tools suggested on the above screenie and select the area. (magic wand for bigger overall areas, and lasso to fix the details) For my picture I will make her hair glittery:
You should see a dashed border surrounding the areas you've selected. Now go to Filter -- Noise -- Add Noise...
And this window should appear. Here's where you adjust the glitter. I always like to make my glitters with the monochromatic box checked. This way the glitter colors are somewhat similar to the color of the area you selected. The uniform distribution is smoother than the gaussian, but pick whichever you like. Now for the amount, start with a small number (I usually go with 20 first), because you will add noise 3 times. You can see the glitters on the preview part. After you choose your ammount, click OK.
After you've done that, same your image. I usually delete the outside white area when I save (use magic wand, select the white part and press delete on your keyboard). Save either as a .gif or .jpg (gif only if you want the white area to be transparent) When you're done saving, go to the noise window and select a slightly higher number for your noise (your selection should still be there), and save this as a different image (keep the same file extensions). Now add even more noise and save. I normally do 20, 23, 26. Now open up Adobe ImageReady and create a new file. Set the height and width the same size as the picture you edited. And you can choose to make the background transparent or white.
Now in Photoshop, open up each of the images you saved. Start with the first one, select all and copy. Paste it in the new file you created in ImageReady:
If you want to get rid of your background, use the magic wand tool here to select that part and delete it. Just make sure to keep the tolerance very low or your image border maybe cut off a bit. Now make a new frame and paste your images in this order: 1, 2, 3, 2. (including the one you just pasted) Dont forget to delete the background as you go, not all at the end. And of course, a new frame for each of your image. (do I really have to tell you that?)
Now just test out your image and you are done! Dont forget to save it of course :p
Now that you know the basics, experiment around and you'll be a pro in no time! Upload your picture and show them to your friends! I hope this guide has helped you. Well happy glitter making, and dont forget to link to me! |
