*~Introduction~*
You find yourself on a lonely shore. Everything is quiet and still, save the gentle waves that lap the wet sand. There is no wind, and you feel completely alone. It is beautiful, but your senses feel dead.
The sky is captivating. The sun has mostly set, covering the landscape in the dull dust of evening, but a thick bar of rose-pink light still hangs above the waves. Purple clouds like pulled saltwater taffy ornament the blue-gray dome above you. The water itself is an indescribable pungent blue, accented by buttery yellow streaks. The sand, nearly white, gives way beneath your feet. The pale dune grass is still, with no wind to tug at its tips.
Suddenly you notice a figure not far from where you stand. For the life of you, you cannot remember if she has just appeared or if she has been here all along. Unafraid, you watch as the winged girl raises a golden staff to the sky. She is a Draik, a young one, almost the same enchanting teal as the ocean before her. She stands close enough to the shoreline so that her powerful legs are occasionally swallowed by the thin film of advancing waves.
You step up to her, beginning to feel the coolness of the wet sand. You look over at her, curious. Her eyes are closed and her silver hair, pulled back into a thick braid, whips in the wind around her. The silver bands and bracelets on her arms and wrists glow in the fading light.
Be still, she says, as if your presence was not unexpected in the least,
if you make too much movement, the dreams will not come.
Where am I? you ask.
You are on the Wayshore Ilium. is her sole reply.
You don't know what that means, but accept it as an answer nonetheless. You follow her gaze out to sea, where a curious pink light is drifting. As you watch it come closer, you begin to wonder about the mysterious creature beside you, but your mind is too foggy to think on her for long. You feel lethargic. All you can do is stand beside the Draikess and watch the glittering ball of pink light as it bobs upon the waves to rest at your companion's feet.
She picks it up gently and inspects it with the efficiency of one who is long used to the task. She smiles, then waves one hand slowly over the orb. It glows brighter for a moment, and then she sets it gently back into the waves. The two of you are silent, watching it drift away back out to the ocean.
What was that? You ask finally.
That was a dream. She says, her pale eyes still fixed on the horizon.
She looks over at you, and seeing the look of confusion on your face, she laughs.
Forgive me. I forget that what is old to me is new to others. Allow me to explain.

*~About Me~*
My name is Gwynivae, and I am a Dreamweaver, or one who is in charge of tending to the dreams of others. When others sleep, I journey to a realm called the Waylands, or the home of the spirits. Dreams there take physical form and drift in on the waves of the most sacred shore of Ilium. It is my job to tend to those dreams and make sure they are untarnished by nightmares. Then I send them back to their owners to keep their minds at rest while they sleep.
But there is much more to me than my duty as Dreamweaver. In Neopia, I am not unlike most other girls my age, growing up in a complicated world and trying to find my place. I am studying under the watchful eye of Archimeadese Salamín, Archmage of Brightvale to improve my magic working skills. Master Archie, though he cannot access the Waylands himself, knows the technique behind its magic well enough to tutor me.
Often I end up being a housekeeper more than a student, as my mother instincts compel me to pick up after my messy master and make sure he eats and sleeps when he should. I also watch over his son, Marcilus, when he is busy. I have grown to love the boy, and feel very at home in the company of Master Archie and his friends. I have a lot to learn, both in my magic and in the world, but I feel that I am in the place I need to be to do it.

*~My History~*
I was born in a small seaside clan north of Meridell. The coasts were salty and wet and wrapped in mist, and my village was steeped in ancient magic. However, I will not tell you of my life there. If you wish to know of the circumstances of my birth, find my father Merridia. My story begins after I left this village.
At that time, I had only just discovered my true abilities as a dreamweaver and knew next to nothing about how to protect myself when within the Waylands. Being only ten years of age and having no magic to protect myself, it was a foolish thing to do, but I set off regardless of this, determined to find whatever it was I felt was missing in my heart. I traveled between small towns as I went south, using my skills as an amateur healer in exchange for room and board.
Although my father would have given anything to have the freedom to explore as I did, the constant moving was taxing on me and I did not like having to readjust myself to each new village. I knew that this life was not for me, and I knew that a piece of my puzzle was missing. Unlike many who search to fill this void all their lives, I was lucky enough to find my missing piece one balmy night in the northernmost reaches of Merridel.
My answer came to me in the form of an old earth faerie who beckoned me to her glade. I could tell by her ephemeral form and the wisdom in her eyes that she was a very ancient spirit. Somehow, while standing in her glade filled by a silver pond and lit by dancing fireflies, I knew that I could trust her. I knew she would tell me what I needed to hear.
The faerie told me that what I sought was guidance. I needed someone with the skill to help me hone my powers. She told me I could find such a one in the highest circles of Brightvale. Not long after she vanished, leaving me alone in the glade.
With nothing but a vague clue and the name of a kingdom as my guide, I stumbled south to Brightvale and was at once dazzled by the vigorous style of life that city folk lead. I wandered the cobbled streets of the city district, every so often catching a glimpse of the castle's elusive towers. I probably would have wandered forever, had I not accidentally collided with one of the most peculiar fellows I have met to this day.
His name was Domenelaus, a prideful white Gelert with a strange manner of dress and a stranger manner of speech. I didn't take to him, but I did let slip the one concrete word the faerie had offered me: Archmage. By some great fate, he knew of whom I spoke, and eagerly took me to him.
Now that I am better acquainted with Dom, I believe he did this not out of charity, but rather out of a desire to aggravate my master, who is not fond of unexpected company, particularly the kind that never leaves. Whatever the reason, he brought me to the door of Archimeadese Salamín, a reclusive but brilliant Draik who was--and still is--highly favored by King Hagan.
I have studied closely with Master Archie to this day. He has become a beloved guide of mine, and I am happy with the life I lead here in Brightvale. King Hagan gifted Archie with an old cottage not long ago, which Archie renovated and entrusted to me. I run it as an inn now, when I am free of my duties I further explore my gift. Sometimes, when the night is warm and a mist rolls in over the ocean, I look back and think of the life I left behind.

*~Gwyn's Stories~*
Eventually, Gwyn will have stories here illuminating certain moments in her past, and possibly her future. When they are written, you will find the links here.

*~Family~*
Where Gwyn was born, family is not as important, so she keeps no ties from her homeland save with her father. However, there are many Neopets she has met since leaving her homeland whom she holds close to her heart.

Gwyn has a deep love for her teacher,
Archimeadese.
He took her under his wing when she was alone and lost on the streets of Brightvale. It was grudgingly that he took her on as a student, but her magical aptitude immediately impressed him, and now he thinks of her as a surrogate daughter. She respects and admires him, but also thinks he can be quite silly when he gets lost in his books and forgets about the world around him.

If it weren't for
Dom,
Gwyn might have wandered the streets of Brightvale forever. He found her and took her to Archie, half as a gesture of good will and half as a prank on his old friend. Gwyn only ever sees him when he is at the University visiting Archie, but she enjoys his intelligent conversation, and his quirky behavior often makes her laugh. He is a playwright, and Gwyn always delights in going to see the plays his acting company puts on.

Gwyn enjoys looking after young
Marc,
Archie's silent son. He is a very composed youngster, and Gwyn is often taken aback by his advanced intelligence. She has a deep fondness for him. As the main female influence in his life, she tries her best to be a good example. She spends a good deal of her day with him, and she was there when he took his first steps.

Gwyn's father,
Merridia, didn't have much to do with Gwyn until she came chasing after her daughter a few years ago. Many wonder how it is possible that Merridia, being female, is Gwyn's father. The truth is, no one knows how Gwyn's tribe works, but because there are only female within it, some Draiks take on the male role. Idia is strict with Gwyn, and seems uncaring at times, but she always has an eye on Gwyn, and is very concerned for her well-being.

Most of the attention Gwyn recieves from
Morhg is unwanted. She doesn't know quite what to make of him and his eccentric habits. He showed up out of nowhere one day claiming to be her uncle, and no one has yet been able to convince him to leave. In addition to the fact that he's dead, Gwyn finds him to be a giant puzzle, which is probably the only reason she's tolerated his comany this long.

*~Friends~*
Gwyn is not the most social of Draiks, and prefers to keep to herself. Therefore, she has not made many friends, but those she has are very important to her.
Master William dourly greeted Gwyn when she stumbled upon his abandoned factory one dreary night. He is a gruff, miserly old Draik who hates company. However, he miraculously seemed to tolerate Gwyn's presence. Over time Gwyn has come to deeply admire him, as he is a treasure trove of knowledge. It didn't take her long to figure out that he was a ghost. However, she is unsure of how far to trust him, due to an unnerving journal entry regarding his treacherous nature that she found in the guest room of his factory...

Gwyn met
Aslan through a blind date in the Draik Clan. She was immediately impressed with his chivalry, and found a kindred spirit in the quiet, peaceful Draik. She hasn't seen him since, but she thinks of him often, and considers him a good friend.

*~Companion~*

Morpheus, Gwyn's loyal Tanizard, is named after the king of dreams because of the role he plays in Gwyn's duties. He came to her one night in the dream realm and has been with her since. At night when she is tending to the dreams, he can speak to her, as well as take other forms. However, in Neopia he can neither speak nor shapeshift, and floats quietly by her side. He is a very old soul, and very wise too. He is quite protective of his mortal charge, and is very slow to trust strangers. Each jewel on his skin reflects the color of Gwynivae's feelings, though not many know to look to him for this. He acts as a sort of living dreamcatcher, helping Gwyn to get through the darker nightmares by mitigating their impact.

*~Role Play~*
So you want to role play with Gwyn, huh? Great! But read this first.
If you really want to role play with her, there are a few things to keep in mind. Just because
you know all about her past and such doesn't mean your pet does. Remember, Gwyn isn't exactly a social butterfly. She can't be pressured into doing things, and if someone loud and excitable approaches her, she will most likely clam up instead of reach out.
Gwyn takes friendship very seriously. She doesn't have casual friendships, which is why her friends are so few. She only keeps the ones around who really share a bond with her. Any pet looking to become Gwyn's friend will have to be patient and very, very genuine. She despises facades.
As far as love goes, well, Gwyn is a typical adolescent girl. She falls very easily if a charming boy is kind to her. However, she is far too shy to ever say anything about it, so anyone who wants to get anywhere with her will have to be willing to make the first move.

RP FAQ to find out everything you need to know about role playing with one of my pets, as well as a bit of extra information about Gwyn.
