[From the mountain, I wandered down to the city, and made a home for myself among the rats. One night, I got lost among the graves of lost souls, and wander among the ghosts that live about the city limits]
The night is cold, and dark. The last shimmers of street lamps flicker from your view as you turn onto a dark road, lined by allies, litter and broken glass. The only light offered to you from this dark city street is the flickering stars, struggling to be seen.
You search the night carelessly. Where are you going? How did you get here? While pondering these questions, you see something new before you, a faint glow of green, and…Blue? Before you can figure out what it is, you see a shadow above you, and then feel a presence lurking behind you.
Boo." The creature snarls, right into your ear. You jump back, frightened, now able to see what this creature is. It's a Lupe, a big one too. He's black, with odd blue and green markings Around his neck is a heavy leather collar; blue.
Heh." The Lupe smirks, padding casually toward you. "What are you doing here, human? He says human like it was poison, like it made him want to vomit simply to utter the word. "You have no place in this wasteland of a city."
I…I'm lost." You reply, still backing up, and keeping your eyes on his rows of razor cruel teeth.
Oddly, I could tell." He laughs, cruelly. He doesn't care. "But, then again, we all are. Lost, of course." He smiles, and starts to circle you. "Does that scare you, human?"
D-Does what scare me…?" You stutter, trying to get away from this thing.
Being lost…" He looks straight into your eyes. "Well, you're not so much lost anymore…As you are trapped! He jumps at you, and slashes at your face, only missing you by an inch. You fall over, adrenaline pulsing through your veins.
The Lupe smiles again, coming closer, and putting his heavy paw over your throat. You can't move, and are sure this is the end of your life. The Lupe looks into your eyes again, boring into your mind.
No. I'm not going to kill you, human. There's no need for that." He brings his muzzle close to your face, so close you can taste his sour breath in your mouth. He moves his mouth to your ear, and snarls again, "Welcome to the city."
CITY DOG
The Lupe removes his paw, and backs up from you. You quickly spring up, and grasp your throat, making sure that you're ok. Taking several heavy breaths, you ask the Lupe who he is.
The Lupe's response is a simple laugh. "That's really, none of your concern." He says, lazily. "You should care less about who I am, and more about how you're going to get out of here." The Lupe looks up to the sky. "It's late."
I know." You say, sighing. "What should I do?"
The Lupe looks surprised. "You're asking me for help?" He chuckles. "Human, I'm just a City Dog, one who could easily rip you to pieces, might I add. I don't think it wise to be near me." He turns to you and flashes a razor smile. Wonderful. "Let alone, to be asking me for help."
The Lupe looks hard at you, straight into your eyes, again.
Curiosity killed the cat." He says, walking past you.
What?" You ask, not getting his meaning, or point, rather.
He turns to you. "Your eyes are begging for answers, you're obviously full of curiosity, I can smell it." He smirks again. "That, and I can read minds…"
Mind Reader
You can what!?" You ask, not very much liking this City Dog knowing your thoughts.
Haha, don't worry, human." The Lupe turns away again, but doesn't move. "I don't dig any deeper then the surface thoughts, though I could. I've gotten very good at my power, actually. Almost to the point of controlling the minds of others…But not quite there yet."
He sees your look of terror, then adds "Once again, I wouldn't do that, not to you anyway. You're easy enough to read as it is. Humans are just like that."
You start to protest to this obvious insult, but just as you do, the Lupe starts to walk away. "Follow me if you must." He says in a voice that's neither cruel, nor kind. "But don't get too close, you never know when I might…" He turns around again, and jumps, landing a foot away from you. "…Attack." He smirks, and walks off again.
You look around at the dark street ahead of you, and the Lupe walking away. He really didn't seem that bad, all things considered. He seemed more to like scaring humans, then actually hurting them. And anyway, you didn't want to be alone…Maybe this creature could help you out. You turn toward him, and then run to catch up.
My home
You don't speak. Neither does he. There's no reason to. The lupe leads you out of the ally, and onto a deserted street. "Why am I back here, in this stupid city?" You hear him murmer.
."What?" You ask, breaking the silence between you two. 'I thought he lived here?' you think, confused.
."Shut up." The lupe snarls, not turning around.
."But...What did you mean, 'back here?' I thought...
This time, the lupe's head whips around, and in a second he is facing you. Close. A cold blast of wind hits you, hard. Did he do that? The lupe snarls, right in your face. But, then he backs up again, and grins. "Still curuious...Fine. What I meant. Was. I don't live in this city anymore. I used to. This was the second chapter in my life." He looked ahed of him, snorting at the fog starting to set in. "I'm onto my third. What I live now, is not too far from here. But, I don't think you want to follow me there. Stupid human. You should go home."
If I knew how to get home...I would. But, I'm lost."
Duh." The lupe laughs. "If you wern't, I highly dought you'd be within a mile of this city, let alone me."
You start to get frustrated. All the lupe wants to do is play games. "Well, what am I suppoed to do!?"
The lupe turns around again, calm. "Follow me to my home. Or try and find yours. Either way, you're out of luck." He howled at his own wit. "But, if you chose to follow me, at least you won't be alone. You decide weather of not that's a good thing." He started to walk away again, right into the fog.
