To understand my life, you must start at the beginning. It occurred long before my brother and I were born; long before my father was even born.
My story began long ago, in the days before the whole world knew of Neopia. My grandfather was a majestic uni stallion who roamed the lands near the sea, obsessed with its beauty and mystery. He was a loyal follower of the Faery queen, Fyora, and was always in her favor and had be blessing in all that he did. One day, he came upon an injured mare and took her in, and cared for her till she was well again. They became very close, and when she was ready to return to the sea, Fyora, who had seen how much Eclipse cared for her, made him a peophin and promised she would forever watch over him and his family. Together, the new and the old dove beneath the waves happily, and began a search for a new place to call home. They searched for months, and came upon an underwater place called Maraqua and settled along its outskirts. They were pleased with this place, and made it their home, and formed a small herd, taking in others like them.
Some time later, they had a foal; a silvery colt with black points and a single black lightning bolt beneath his eye, who they simply named Scion. They raised him, teaching him everything he needed to know to survive. On the colts 3rd birthday, he said his good-byes to his herd, and started off on his own.
Scion traveled, not knowing where his destination was, following other creatures, mainly fish, as that was a food supply. One day, he was sneaking up on a fish when he saw a flash of black, red and blue. He stopped, staring. A timid head emerged from behind a reef, and a body followed it. It was a mare, who introduced herself as AmaraLuna . After the initial greeting, they conversed for a while and Scion told of his home and family. Curious about the beautiful mare he'd met, asked about her family. She lowered her head, seeming hesitant to speak. After some coaxing, she revealed that her family was dead, murdered by a hoard of hostile faeires. He looked at her in disbelief. How could anyone do such a thing? Anger overwhelmed him, and for a moment his eyes were overshadowed by a black cloud of hatred for the creatures that had hurt this beauty. Concern for Amara overcame his anger and he asked if she would like to accompany back to his home. Grateful for the offer, Amara accepted and together they headed back to his home with high hopes for their the futures.
Scion had traveled far from home, so the journey back took a few days. However, the home they returned to was quite a bit different than he remembered. Land marks that had once stood were reduced to ruins, and the water seemed to be tainted pink with the blood of the slain. There was no need to go any further; he knew that the fate that had befallen Maraqua and its inhabitants had also befallen his herd. Anger was suppressed for now with greif, and Amara tried hard to comfort her newfound friend. However, the hatred proved too much and something in Scion changed; no longer did he hold any respect for the faeries- not even Fyora. He hated them all, for destroying Amara's family and for not keeping his family safe.
After a few days of mourning, the two departed and scouted the surrounding area for some time. It was during this period that their friendship blossomed into something more. They fell in love, and when they finally settled down, they started planning for a family. A herd formed, with them at the head, and it was at this time that my brother, Shadow, and I were born.
My brother and I enjoyed our life, chasing after fish, playing with other foals from our small herd. We knew no hate, unlike our parents whose lives had been shaped by it; however, at the time, these things were unknown to us. These were peaceful times amidst the bad. We had no knowledge of the terrible things that had befallen our herd; our family. We lived our lives happily and freely, until one fateful day when everything we had known would vanish in an instant.
We awoke to the sound of yelling, frantic whinnies, and angry shrieks. Mother rushed into the den, father following behind. They urged us up and forced us to flee into the depths of our den, which stretched on for some distance before opening into a reef. By the time we were allowed to stop, Shadow and I were exhausted and ready to collapse. Mother was worried and father was tense and looked very frightening. One of us (I cannot recall if it was my brother or me) ventured to ask what was going on, and in hushed tones, my father explained that we had been attacked by faeries. Neither my brother I knew much of these faeries or the events that had occurred, but what we did know was that we were alone, and it was all because of those faeries that my father had mentioned; they had torn our herd apart, and we were left friendless. But we were glad we still had this family: the only family that really mattered.
So we settled for the time being, and my brother and I were taught how to survive. We lived far from our destroyed home, and longed to be back there with our friends, playing and enjoying lifethough we knew it could never be. Being deprived of normal childish niceties, my brother and I were given space to learn the necessities of life: how to fight and survive. We also learned we had special abilities which had been bestowed upon our line at the time of my great grandfather, though it is uncertain whether or not mother had possessed some hidden ability and passed it on to us as well. Anyway, we were gifted with certain elements, each with our own unique ability, and my father ventured to train us to use them. However, he still continued to teach us in physical combat, and instructed us never to use our abilities unless it was absolutely necessary; they could betray our identities.
The years passed, and my brother and I matured. Our family migrated, though my parents couldn't bear to go far from Maraqua. This was a mistake that would prove to be fatal. It was not long after our firth birthday that disaster struck again. Mother and Father were ambushed and captured by faeries; there were too many to count, and my brother and I were so frightened that we remained, petrified, in the den. They were forced to the surface where they were killed by the faerie queen herself. We never found their bodies, though there were quite a few faerie bodies littering the sea floor that day. Our parents must have put up one heck of a fight before they died. Anyways, we were always a bit glad we didn't have to view their corpses; it's better to remember individuals alive rather than dead and mutilated.
For close to ten years we roamed the world of Neopia, traveling from place to place, never leaving the safety of the ocean. Occasionally, we would swim close to shore, but we never dared to leave the safety of the ocean. On one occasion, we met a strange sort of peophin, who was very small. We came to know him as Rowdy, and he became a close friend and our traveling companion. And it was with his help that we found our new home .
One day, we thought we saw another one of our kind. We wandered closer, and spotted a whole herd. We rejoiced, and swam to join them. They accepted us, and that was how we came to be part of Peophins of the Night.
The leader of that heard at the time was Dark Kishou. He was a great leader, and is a great friend of mine to this day. Once he gained my trust and respect, he made me a high-ranked mare in the herd. He had a mate, Elinbia, who disappeared not long after we joined, and a son named Cryptholder, who took over the herd some time later when Kishou went roaming with his old friend, Cruiser, a very useful flotsam. His daughter, Cleotome, was killed by faeries, or so I heard, and she eventually took on the form of a ghost peophin. Never in my years did I ever encounter her spirit, but knowing she was destroyed by the faeries only made me hate the wretches even more.
I met many wonderful peos with heart-wrenching stories like mine: Cali, Sunny, Breeze, Rowdy, Skye, and Darkness. I formed special bonds with all of these peophins, but none more special than the bond I shared with Darkness. Though we were quite dodgy for some time, we eventually fell in love and became mates. Not long after, I was found with foal, and gave birth to twins; Eclipse and his sister Thunder. However, when the foals were still very young, Darkness was exiled and took our daughter with him, and I never heard from either again.
With Darkness gone, my world crumbled. I nearly went instance, and I left to try and find him, along with Eclipse. We were gone for a good while, and when we did return, Kishou's son Crypt was now a lead stallion, and POTN had become Peophin Song.
Not long ago, Eclipse (now near maturity) was kidnapped by faeries. Kishou came back, and we stormed the faery city, and Kishou literally blew up Fyora's home. We ran for it and retreated back into the waters where we hid safely at our home. After I got Eclipse back, however, I realized that I had been hanging onto the past for too long, and I set off on my own. Despite that realization, I kept clinging to the hope that I would get Darkness back and that our family would be reunited. My dreams became my false reality, and I stopped living. I wasted away and became a weak, skeletal being that was barely living. I somehow managed to drift back home and my brother and Kishou found me. Since then, I've been hanging around the herd lands of POTN, though as of recently the herd has begun to grow and I managed to set hoof back within its territories. I've begun to let go of my lost love, though my heart still aches for him. But the losses of my daughter Thunder and now my son Eclipse (who has been missing for quite some time) pain me greatly. Yet I move forward, hoping one day to meet with them again.
Of course, many things have changed. As I said, I was found by Kishou and my brother. You see, Crypt had died (how I don't know, though I imagine it was faeries), and Peophin Song was once more POTN. As of now, a few old faces have returned, and new faces are appearing rapidly. The changes that are occurring are constant challenges that I must deal with, but thanks to Kishou and Lakitano, a very trusted peo from the old days of POTN, I'm coping.
Well, that's all for now, but be sure to keep returning for more updates! Thankyou, and be sure to visit the peophin's pages below:
