NEOQUEST II FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ):

Good afternoon, guest! My name is Dragoner46, and I am not very skilled in HTML. However, I love NeoQuest II, and love answering questions. Here are a few questions I've heard asked:

Q: Help! I can't get through the pyramid in Chapter 3!

A: If you speak of the pyramid, you will have already defeated Silicast and Gebran II. Go back to the Ruined Temple (but not inside!). Have you already visited Waset? If not, go there. Do NOT skip Waset Village, I repeat, do NOT skip it. Waset hides Velm, the healer of the party. He will stop Mipsy from dying as much from his healing, not to mention you can get more money by selling your healing potions.

Waset Village is the tents above the Ruined Temple. Go into the various tents, chatting and buying (and selling) various items.

You will find that a young woman named Lifira has been captured by zombies. You will also have found the inn, ran by a Desert Grarrl. Here you find your last party member.

Go to the right side, and talk to the Red Techo. Ask him to join your party, and he will. Congratulations! Velm has joined your party!

Leave Waset, going diagonally up (left) until you reach a place where the mountains part. Then go diagonally down (left) and diagonally up again (once you reach more mountains). Soon you will reach the Palace of Ancient Kings (look at map).

Randomly after defeating any monsters, you may find a journal page. Examine it. It will tell of a secret passage underneath a bed. Find the sleeping quarters (they have beds, you can't miss them), and go into the last one's bed. Level two of the Palace of Ancient Kings is yours.

Now there is a barrel and crate maze, then straight up once you reach dirt. You will soon fight the Reverant of the Dunes and his pals, some skeletons.

If Velm can cast Mesmerize, get him to do that on the Skeletons. Don't worry about killing them, once you defeat the Reverant, the Skeletons will fall to dust.

Upon defeating the Reverant, you will get some new weapons and armour and potions ... blah blah blah. We know the routine. Now for Lifira.

Diagonally up (right) leads to a Uni. Talk to her, and once she disappears, go into the portal (which was diagonally up left from the Reverant). It shall transport you out of the Palace. Go back to Waset, to Lifira's home. Talk to her, and she'll give you a secret phrase to tell a hermit. Find a map and go talk to him (the hermit).

Follow his instructions EXACTLY to find the next part of the medallion. Also, he means where he stands, not you. Congratulations! The medallion is completed! Or is it ...

There is still one piece to go. Find another map and go to Ahkten-Ka (it's a ruined city). Pay no attention to the smiley face (it's like this one :-)). Yet another map is what you should now find, and find the Lupe guy on it. This is Coltzan's Ghost. He is your next boss.

What? Coltzan? I thought he was a good guy!' I hear you speak. He was poisoned, as you know, and his spirit was trapped, to guard the last bit of the medallion.

After defeating him, pick up the semi-last piece of the medallion from the crate he speaks of. Remember that smiley face? Here's where it comes in.

Find its nose, and go a few steps left from it. Find the gem, which marks the pyramid. Now you may go to the Pyramid. Good luck on Anubits, the chapter boss!!

Q: I'm on level 5. Now where's the Devilpuss?

A: You misunderstood your avatar advice. To get the Lil' Devil avatar, you need to be on Chapter 5, not Level 5. Which is nearly the entire game ahead of you. Find a guide and follow it. Eventually, you'll get to the Devilpuss!

Q: Where's the lost kid in Happy Valley?

A: Underneath the trees underneath the skating rink.

Q: Where do I get Velm?

A: He's in Waset Village, in Chapter 3, after you defeat Gebran II. See 'how do I get through the pyramid' for more details.

Q: The Chias speak nonsense. Are they just weird or what?

A: To understand the Chias, you must defeat the Leximp, who has stolen the Wordstone. He is in a cave, the first after Chia Oscuro. The Kougra in Chia Oscuro shall give more information.

Q: What skills for (character name)?

A: I am not the best skill judge, but I shall suggest what I play the game with.

ROHANE:

Justic prevails again!' Rohane's heroic catchphrase.

Critical Attacks, Damage Increase, Stunning Strikes, Innate Magic Resistance and Innate Melee Haste are a must.

Why?' I hear you ask. Rohane is your brute force person. You want him as fast as possible so he can do as much damage as he can, which is why Innate Melee Haste should be there.

Another reason for this skill is that monsters get faster and faster as the game progresses. Rohane needs to be able to dish it out as fast as they can.

As I have said, Rohane focuses on damage, and getting hits in as quick as possible. If his Innate Melee Haste is maxed out along with Stunning Strikes, he should make a fair number of attacks per battle.

With Stunning Strikes, each hit has a chance of stunning the enemy who the hit was directed at. This will save time, and less healing will need to be done, for the enemy might have had a turn soon if it had not been stunned.

Damage Increase and Critical Hits focus on allowing him to hit harder then anyone else in the party. A Critical Attack will do so much damage that your enemies will be knocked out in two of them (if Damage Incrase is high enough)

Rohane is a warrior, and warriors hate magic, and want to resist it as much as possible. Here is where Innate Magic Resistance comes in. It will soon be your best friend.

MIPSY:

I wish I didn't have to wear these stupid shoes..' Mipsy's barefoot catchphrase.

Direct Damage, many people disagree on this. However, I like it, along with Group Direct Damage, Innate Casting Haste, and Group Haste.

Direct Damage, when maxed out, will do up to 100 damage. That's 1/10 of Meuka's health. Even smaller fractions of later bosses, however, Direct Damage is powerful.

Group Direct Damage, when maxed out, will do up to 62 damage - per enemy. Did that take your breath away? In later chapters, when enemies come in packs, this will be a nice friend.

Group Haste? Hated by many. Although when maxed out, it hastes the entire group by 38%, you must also consider that speed potions will do more. However, would it take four turns or one turns to use Speed Potions on your ENTIRE group - and, if you did that every battle.. your gold flies away.

Innate Casting Haste - Mipsy isn't very fast at the start, and it's up to you to change that. No more comments.

TALINIA:

It's all about the proper aim, baby.' Ze catchphrase of ze famous ranger.

Talinia is a ranger. She is a fighter, and not a spellsmith. However, she is not as strong as Rohane. She has no such thing as critical hits. However, Talinia is not just a puny weakling. She focues on slowing down the enemies.

Shockwave is her main bit of stunning. I can hear you rejoicing they kept Shockwave. This is not the same Shockwave from NeoQuest I, though.

Shockwave should be maxed out. Shockwave does no damage, besides Talinia's usual hit, however, it stuns every enemy alive who is being fought.

Now, I must suggest that, as you work on maxing Shockwave out (it's quite handy in the last three chapters), you might want to spend several points in Slowing Strike. Spending a few is okay, but do not rock the boat with many skill points.

Slowing Strike is not my favourite skill, as the slowing it does hardly does much. It may gain you about a tenth of a second, but that's not very important, unless you're down to one party member and only one faerie left in the Haunted Woods. You both have low HP, and your turns are very close. The faerie would have the first turn, unless it had been slowed by 3%, slowing it down by one tenth of a second. You take a deep breath, and attack/cast a spell. The Faerie is dead. Balthazar's Grove is restored.

Increased Bow Damage, the bite behind Talinia's bow. Wise to max it out, so Talinia can do as much damage as possible, so Talinia can fight side-by-side with Rohane. They make a great team, don't they? Velm and Mipsy dead, down to those two.

Who could EVER forget the Innates? In the true spirit of a fighter, she can resist magic AND go faster. I suggest a few points (under 8) into Innate Magic Resistance, and maxing out Innate Melee Haste. You'll still have points left at level 60, so put the rest into Multiple Targets. Why? Six points gives you Third Arrow, which makes this attack be able to get three enemies at once.

VELM:
