The Kingdom of Asgard![]() The land of Asgard was the most beautiful place in the heavens, with lush green fields in the spring, and soft powdered snow in the winter. There were grand palaces and cathedrals, but none could overshadow the perfection that came from the Great Tree, Yggdrasil, that lay in the Valley of Creation. The valley was also known as Vanaheim. Under Yggdrasil's shade, lay Urd, a magical well that is tended by three maidens... It is said that there were roughly 2,500,000 inhabitants of Asgard, comprised mostly of a strange breed of Neopet, known as the Nidafnr, a dragon elk-like creature, and their cousins, the Shoyru. There was also a race of giant Neopets, ranging in species that are also found on Neopia, just much larger. They were divided into two clans, the Muspel (Fire) and the Nilf (Ice). The Muspel dwelt in a volcanic region known as Muspelheim and the Nilf lived in the arctic region of Niflheim. The grandest city in the Asgardian Kingdom was known as Midgard, a land that lay between the two areas of Niflheim and Muspelheim, and near Vanaheim and Yggdrasil. It had a grand palace on the eastern side of the city, known as Breidablik. This palace was the purest and grandest in all of Asgard and home to, not the ruling family, who lived on the west end in the palace Folkvangr, but to the mysterious Gloryborn. The great palace of Breidablik was located next to another great structure, the Hall of Vahalla, a citadel that was home to a group known only as Ragnarok. Little else is known of Asgard… It disappeared from the Neopian sky many centuries ago… It was thought that all records were lost… The Records of a Fallen CivilizationBesides these documents, some artifacts and small, strange creatures have also been discovered, but no sentient survivors have been located. ~Excerpts from Journal of Doctor Roland Ixius, year 3 The Bifrost CrossingToday, I came across a most fascinating discovery! As you well know, I have been looking into the reappearance of the Altador area. I had gotten a tip that some artifacts of unknown origin had been located in the valley to the north of Altador. So, of course, I grabbed my assistant, Louis Tari, and made my way towards the valley. When I arrived, I found the strangest thing! A patch of ice, in the middle of that region's summer! Naturally, I had to investigate. The ice was roughly two and a half meters in long and a meter wide, and protruded about six centimeters, or so, above the ground. It appeared as if it had been broken off! While I circled and examined the strange, icy spot, Louis had gone off on his own, and moments later, he came running, screaming and raising such a fuss. He said he had found something and he tugged urgently at my arm. So I followed him, a little hesitant to leave the strange ice… When we arrived, several meters away, I beheld a strange being! A Shoyru, as far as I could tell, but he seemed different. He lay on the ground, unconscious and breathing very heavily. We set up an early camp, and began to try to revive the creature, I bet he could tell us about the ice! As I had said, I concluded the creature was Shoyru in species. The only differences were in his lack of membranes stretching across his wings, he had feathers instead! He also had feather on his elbows and the sides of his face. His feathers were a deep blue and a darkish red. His skin shimmered with gold and he had tattoos around his eyes and a mark of what appeared to be a crescent moon on his head. Below is a sketch I have done after he woke… ![]() When he awoke, he first opened his eyes wide and seemed to gasp for air. He breathed heavy for a moment, then closed his eyes. After fifteen seconds or so, he opened his eyes again and looked around. It had been three hours since we had found him… and all that time we had to prepare what we wanted to ask him, seemed like seconds short of what we needed. So the first thing out of my mouth was… "Um…good afternoon… The Shoyru looked at me, his eyes, a piercing blue. He did not speak, but rose, and with a half-hearted glance at my protégé, he began to walk away. Wait!" I called to him. He stopped. "Who are you? Where are you going? My name?" his voice was strong, yet relaxed. "Chibinite… What?" I asked him. Chibinite. Where are you from? I came across the Bifrost Bridge… I wanted him to stay, but I knew I should not have asked. Instead, I gave him my card and said, if he ever wanted to talk, I wanted to learn more, and would listen. He smiled lightly and walked away. I don't know if I'll ever see him again… (Doctor Roland Ixius) His name was ChibiniteOver the past few days, I've been researching, heavily, this "Bifrost Bridge," but, alas, to no avail. The closest I came was from what , I thought, was an ancient Altadorian text known as the "Histories of the Edda." The passage read as thus: Now, that is not wisely asked; has it not been told thee, that the gods made a bridge from earth to heaven, called Bifröst? Thou must have seen it; it may be that ye call it 'rainbow.' It is of three colors, and very strong, and made with cunning and with more magic art than other works of craftsmanship. But strong as it is, yet must it be broken, when the sons of Múspel shall go forth harrying and ride it, and swim their horses over great rivers; thus they shall proceed. That is all I could translate. So this was a bridge that linked to "earth" and "heaven?" Earth must have been Neopia, and heaven? That had yet to be determined. Little did I know, I would get my answers sooner than I had thought. Chibinite came back that afternoon. I hear you study history and civilizations…" He said to me, as he stood at my door. I've been known to dabble in a little of this and that…" I found myself quite witty. Good enough." He invited himself in, and proceeded to sit in my favorite chair, by the fire. So what have you come to talk to me about?" I asked him I wanted to talk to you about… Asgard… He definitely had my attention. I had been doing research on Asgard for five years, but I did not know anymore now than I did then. I couldn't even tell you how to get there. Then Chibinite told me. He began to tell me about what I now know to be his home and about his purpose, or at least what he remembered. I will comprise that information, the best I can. (Doctor Roland Ixius) The Last of His KindChibinite, Lord of Ragnarok: Chibinite cleared his throat and began to tell me about himself and the group "Ragnarok." He said he was the leader of the organization. Ragnarok was a group of warriors that was as old as Asgard, itself. Chibinite could not remember about some of the purposes, but he said that Ragnarok was partially created to keep a balance in Asgard and to protect the Gloryborn. He and the rest of Ragnarok lived in the great hall of Vahalla. He said that there were one hundred members of Ragnarok in total, but only four who were in the highest order, himself included. This order was known as the Aesir, for they were seen as gods among mortals. Chibinite, himself, was in this order, as well. He then began to tell me of his companions… Ascension, Foreseer of Ragnarok: One of the Aesir, Ascension seemed to possess great psionic abilities. He could see things in the past and in the future with great mental acuity. He was the second in command. Chibinite told me that his species was what we Neopians call a Cybunny. He said that Ascension had deep black fur, and a long ringed tail, a little different from a traditional Neopian Cybunny. Chibinite said he could often be found with his gruslen, Dante. Preefius, Agent of Ragnarok: Another Aesir, Preefius was the wits of Ragnarok. Skilled in the art of tactical thought and in fighting, he was valuable member of Ragnarok. He often paired with Ascension, who could predict the outcome of Preefius' tactics. A Uni in species, but without the vanity that usually comes along with the breed. Chibinite said that he is actually very humble. He took things a little too serious sometimes, but towards the end, Chibinite said, he was learning to lighten up. Chibinite said Preefius had a Baby Blu named Little Roo. Ecco, Operative of Ragnarok: The most mysterious member of the Aesir, Ecco is always changing. She is the only female Aesir, giving her the other name of Asynjur, or goddess. She was a master of disguise, constantly changing form and always keeping people guessing. According to Chibinite, she most likely is really an Eyrie, with a deep violet coat and black feathers. Chibinite said she was often very quiet and well composed. She was used as an informant and knew pretty much everything about Asgard. She kept many petpets. ![]() ![]() Nilesdance, Great Hound of Ragnarok: Chibinite spoke fondly of Nilesdance, a great Anubis that was his faithful companion. He was always by Chibinite's side. He also has a petpetpet, a Cooty named Fafnir. The Gloryborn10:00 NST: Today, Chibinite did not show up to our meeting. I am quite worried. He said he would, so what was keeping him? I could not help but wonder… What more was he hiding from me? It's not about the research anymore… It is about truth. I want to know what happened to Asgard… I want to know more about Ragnarok… Where is Chibinite? 13:46 NST: I heard a knock at my door, and like a schoolgirl, I bounded out of my chair and opened it up. As I left the inner sanctum of my room, I heard rain pounding outside and a light rumble of thunder. I opened my door, and before me stood four ominous figures… Aesir…gods among men… And in Chibinite's arms, a lifeless figure, of a woman… We need your help," Chibinite spoke urgently. Of course," I let them inside, and proceeded to lead them into the den. I hurriedly cleared my couch and they laid her down. She had peach pale skin and shining blonde hair, which fell limply around her neck. She was soaking wet and shivering, slightly. Her dress clung to her slender frame and her forehead bore a crescent mark, a little different than that of the Aesir. On Neopia, she could have been mistaken for a faerie, bor she, too, had wings. They were two raven feathered wings, which were now soaked to the bone, and any flying they could have offered her, was now a mere memory. I called to my assistant, and he brought me a blanket, which I covered her with. I, then, instructed Louis to boil some water. Who is she, Chibinite? What happened to her? We found her in the valley by the Bifrost Bridge, it reappeared again. She was soaking wet and unconscious when we found her. We had no other place to bring her.' He seemed a little disoriented and worried. Louis brought over the boiling water and a cloth in a bowl. I took the cloth, gently squeeze it to rid it of excess water, and patted her face with it. I then laid it across her forehead. Again I asked, "Who is she? Chibinite seemed to ignore me, preoccupied with the girl. But the Aesir I presumed to be Preefius spoke up to me, "She is a Gloryborn… A Gloryborn! Chibinite had yet to tell me about the Gloryborn! Until now, I could only speculate what their function was and what they even looked like, but here she was! A Gloryborn in the flesh! I had to know more, but now was not the time… And the Aesir were here themselves, as well! Chibinite had told me about them, and from the way he talked, I assumed they had been lost as well. Yet, here they stood, looking upon the Gloryborn, obviously devoted to her. I had asked them how long they had been in Neopia, and Ecco told me only two or three days, but that they found her today. A few hours went by, and I talked little with them, and the Gloryborn had not even stirred. Her breathing was faint and soft. I could not take it anymore. Who is she?! Who are you!? WHAT IS GOING ON??!!" I demanded, slamming my fists against the arms of my chair. I wanted to know more, and I was tired of waiting. They all looked at me with their god-like stares and then, Chibinite lowered his head and his gaze. With a deep breath, he said, "Her name is Luna. She came across the Bifrost Bridge from Asgard, looking for survivors, looking for us… She began to stir on that couch, opening her eyes slightly, she uttered faintly, "Chibinite? ![]() He stopped his story and turned to her. His eyes grew wide as he rush to her side, like an old friend. He consoled her and helped her sit up. She looked pale and exhausted, almost as if the life had been sucked from her. I think all she will need is a good night's rest, as I am quite optimistic. Well, tomorrow, I will try to get what I can out of Chibinite and the Aesir. For now, I must settle things here. (Doctor Roland Ixius) A Fractured StoryThis is a combination of the tales Chibinite and his companions have told me. They are stories of the Aesir, of Ragnarok, the Gloryborn, and, most importantly, the Kingdom of Asgard. Chibinite was born into greatness. He came from an honorable family, a family of knights that served the ruling House of Snaer. Residing at the Castle Folkvangr, the ruling family was usually rather small. In Chibinite's lifetime, the ruler was a great Lupe known as King Nór. He had three sons with his beautiful Lupe queen, Hodd; the sons were named Thránd (the oldest), Gard and Raum (the youngest). Thránd was next in line for the throne, after his father, but he was not eager to take that responsibility. He had fallen in love with a peasant girl and, at the time of the disappearance, he, himself, had disappeared. The other two sons lived at the palace, under the watchful eye of their parents. ![]()
When Chibinite was born, his parents were in the knighthood, and lived in an estate known as the Risera Manor. It resided just outside of the capital city, Midgard; it was very large and a masterfully crafted estate. He lived there with his mother, Yunr, his father, Reilk, and his older sister, Alexandrite. As a youth, Chibinite was very adept at his teachings and learned the way of the knight early on. In just a few years, he was ready to assume knighthood himself. But, as chance would have it, it was not in the stars for him. When it came time for Chibinite's test to enter the Knighthood, he missed the examination. It was not because he chose to. A maid in distress had sidetracked Chibinite. Her name was Lady, a fiery Shoyru who was being hassled by a large Grarrl. He had been trying to steal her money, but Chibinite had stepped in and rescued her. It must have been fate. She was a lady who worked in the palace Breidablik, the home of the Gloryborn, and he offered to escort her to that palace. Enchanted by this dashing stranger, she could not refuse. Besides, he was curious about Ragnarok, those knights who were above the order his family came from. When they arrived at Breidablik, Chibinite was struck with awe and wonder. It was the most beautiful building he had ever laid eyes upon… It was so pure, so fresh, clean and perfectly constructed. This story and everything is based on Norse mythology and/or is the intellectual property of lunamadison! Do not steal…or prepare to face the consequences!
