Vireceesa

Iridescent lights dance about, like colorful snowflakes. A soft and gentle breeze ruffles the lavendar cloud you are standing on. Its wisps swirl about you, tickling your nose. A few feet in front of you, a slender figure sits upon a cluster of stars.
Noticing your presence, the creature cocks his head slightly. His striking eyes slowly fall on you. He rises slowly, yet gracefully to an immense height. His rainbow-colored hair and stripes almost clash with his albino skin. A strange marking was tattooed on his left shoulder, and his right warm was just a stump.
You take a sharp breath. He's about to speak. His voice was soft as satin, flowing like a stream...

~Good morning. Welcome to my world.~

Sable

This is Sable, my little companion.
Sable was imported to Shenkuu from the Lost Desert. When I was fighting over in Shenkuu, Sable befriended me.
Sable is a little stuck up, and she loves to be pampered. She may act like a little princess, but I know she really likes me. She also has a love for fried noodles and being groomed.

Story

I've always lived in Faerieland. Or at least, as long as I can remember. I was an only child, living in a beautiful quaint house with both of my caring parents. My father helped forge the weapons sold at the Faerie Weapon Shop. He also happened to collect weapons, he kept them in the basement. I was never allowed to see them though, mother was scared I'd hurt myself. Father's talent was known throughout Faerieland, and other countries even wanted him to come and forge for them, but my father alwasy declined. Faerieland was our home, nothing would change that.

Faerieland is a peaceful place, not much ever happens. We were always safe thanks to Fyora watching after the whole city. But one day, everything changed for my family and I.

My father was cleaning his weapon collection like he did every evening, and I was playing with my toys while mother sewed. A little noise came from the front door. A tapping, hardly audable. My mother, having very keen hearing, got up and looked out the -blocked- I heard her sigh and come back and resume her sewing.

~What is it mother?~ I asked curiously.

~Nothing Vii, must've been my imagination.~ She replied. ~Don't worry about it.~

CRASH!

A loud noise issued from the den where father was, shortly followed by some yelling, and eventually dimming down to quiet.

My mother rushed downstairs, I followed closely behind her, clinging to her long skirt. When we reached the basement, we were too late. A grisly site lay before us.

Father's collection of weapons were strewn all over the room. From what I knew of father's collection, I noticed that a few of the most prized weapons were gone. The single high window was broken, evidence of someone's entrance. My mother looked about for my father. She found him lying in the corner, nearly unconscious. Large claw marks had ripped through his simple cloak. Other wounds had been inflicted on his body as well.

~What happened?~ asked my mother, tears filling her eyes as she hugged my father closely.

Father took long breaths...but remained silent for a few minutes as he looked around the basement, almost not believing the disaster.

~A Darigan Cybunny...b-broke through the -blocked-..tried...to...take...my weapons,~ he took a sharp-sudden breath. ~I tried to stop...her. As you can see...it...didn't...work.~ He now looked down at his badly damaged body, smiling slightly. He was about to talk some more, but my frantic mother stopped him.

~Don't say another word! We've got to get you to a doctor!~

And with that...my father was rushed off to the local Hospital. Although his wounds didn't look fatal, they were. After a few days, my father died of blood loss. Mother spent the next couple of months grieving. To make a long story short, she died a few years later. I'm not sure how...but I think it was her broken heart.

I was an orphan. But I was older, and during those years with only mother I had learned to take care of myself. I still lived in Faerieland, making money by doing various odd jobs.

Then another live changing event happened. It's not recorded in History, but I know for a fact that it happened.

A war broke out...between Faerieland and Shenkuu.

Both countries imported their goods with each other. Things like rare weaponry, potions, and bottles of healing water were exported to Shenkuu. While Shenkuu exported some of their goods to Faerieland.

One day, complaints came from Shenkuu. Apparently, somehow, some potions we had exported had killed someone who drank it. It wasn't just one victim, all the potions drunk from that shipment either caused severe poisoning, death, or other negative health problems.

Fyora tried defending Faerieland, claiming she had no idea defect items were being shipped. She even offered to send more items over, but the Shenkuu were convinced this faulty shipment and the poisoned potions were a sign of war.

So war was initiated...

It wasn't a huge bloody war, but there was fighting. People did die...

I loved my Faerieland, and I wanted to defend her the best I could. So I signed up to join Faerieland's soldiers. I was sent over there with a small regiment to find out what we could about how to fight back against Shenkuu before they got the chance to send any of their troops over.

Needless to say, we fought. We suffered. We weren't exactly prepared. While Shenkuu was a smaller country, they knew their own way of fighting, which involved their feet and hands, and occasionally swords and shurikens. I think it was similar to today's karate or judo. So with their deft moves and our inept ability to fight back, our regiment was disposed rather quickly.

We (Faerieland) had sent over doctors as well as fighters in our small regiment. The wounded were treated, but we were quickly running out of our supplies. I came back with a badly gashed right arm. The antibiotics injected in my arm were medicines stolen from the Shenkuu. In a few days, my arm was looking much better, and it felt like new.

Once everyone in our regiment was physically better, we snuck out of Shenkuu and headed back to Faerieland to report what we had found out.

(As a side note. While we were in Shenkuu, I met a little Seti who started following me everywhere. I decided to call her Sable because of her beautiful black skin. I snuck her into my small pack when we headed back to Faerieland. She's still with me, and she makes life a little happier.)

When we arrived back home, my arm started acting up. A strange burning sensation filled my right arm, a dry film was spreading from where I had been injected with the Shenkuu antibiotics. As the days passed, it grew worse, I started feeling numb in my right arm. Shortly after that I went to the Hospital, and it turned out that the antibiotics used earlier were some of the defect potions we had sent Shenkuu. So my arm was poisoned, and day by day, it grew worse. The doctors came to a conclusion that it would be best to just amputate my arm to prevent the poison from spreading to the rest of my body, which would result in a slow death.

So my right arm was chopped off. It didn't hurt... my nerves had already lost most of their feelings.
Something strange happened the day before my arm was amputated though. Bizarre lines were growing out of my flesh on my left shoulder. I didn't know what they meant. It wasn't until later that I learned the symbol on my shoulder meant "Misfortune" or "Calamity" in the Shenkuu way of writing. It was such a cryptic way to remember why my right arm was missing...

It took a while getting used to having no right arm. I would get strange looks from my fellow people, and I also had to learn to do everything with my left hand.

And about the war...Faerieland suffered greatly, Shenkuu had the upper hand. It took about ten years for Faerieland to try and get back to its original glory. I also heard Shenkuu had closed off their trading with other countries. They grew very protective over their country, not wanting more defected items imported.

I don't think Faerieland ever knew why the potions caused such disaster. Some rumor that Jhudora tainted them to teach Fyora a lesson. But I doubt it...

Anyway, those ten years were pretty miserable. Because of my fumblings with my left hand, working was hard. My masters rarely had the patience to overlook the fact that I was trying. In the end, it just boiled down to no one accepting my meager work, and I couldn't get money any other away.

Eventually, I just decided to reside on a lone cloud, high above Faerie City, away from the people. Away from their unsympathic looks.

I stayed up on my lavendar cloud for many days. My life felt like it was faiding away. I ate nothing, drank nothing...the only excitement up there was Sable playing with the wisps of the cloud. Some say I died, but something kept me alive. Maybe it was the beauty of the high terrace I lived upon, looking down at the beautiful city below me, at the Healing Springs, at city life. Or maybe it was the wind's gentle hugs, the soothing rain, the childish rainbows, or the quiet breathing of the stars. I do not know.
But you are welcome to visit me anytime.

Visit me... in my Heaven.

Poetry

:My World:

~Little stars
From far away.
They're a little closer now
Here on my cloud.
I'll tell you of this place.~
He whispered
~If you care to know...
Clouds of every color
Lavendar, magenta, gold, cerulean
Like a pastel rainbow
Faeries and pixies
Dreams and lights
Healing water and heavenly food.
You'll find no nightmares here
None in this land
This land in the clouds
High above the world.
But even dreams can be...

A little scary...~
