Second Intro

This is the second part of a guide, from my Mystery Island Training School Guide, on my petpage on my main account, here. In this part of the guide, I shall show you some basic stuff that you might need, some of my own favourites from battles that I have had myself, and some more general knowledge of the Battledome and Battledome items.
First of all, there are Three types of Battledome items.
  • Defence Items
  • Attack Items
  • Healing Items

Defence Items

These can help your pet to defend itself against attacks from your opponent. Each defence Item has a different set of attacks that it defends against. Here are the different attack types that different defend items can defend against:

  • Darkness
  • Water
  • Fire
  • Air
  • Physical
  • Earth
  • Light

Whenever you use a Defence items, then a symbol such as this : that shows you how much of the attack from your enemy is stopped. Although not all of the attack might be stopped, and some of these defence items might not stop all attack, so choose your defence items carefully.

Now, there are more than these symbols that shows the effectiveness of an item. Some Defence items can give the user an object, can help with attack or generally defend against a certain item. If you want more detail on the item in question, type it's name into the Battlepedia in the Battledome.

Items such as the Amulet of Chaos can perhaps Freeze your opponent when using it. This is a defence Item, not an attack item, even though it does attack the enemy.

I can help freeze your opponent
True, this item can be out of your budget, but there are some other items that can do this.

Attack Items

These Items are one of the most important items you will likely buy throughout your battledome life. You have to make sure that your attack Weapons are up to it, and decide which are the best for your pet.

You can buy Weapons from various weapon shops, scattered throughout the neopian world. But the most noticed is the Battle Magic Shop which is in Neopia Central. There are weapon shops in nearly all neopian land. For the Lost desert, the weapons shop is sakhmet City. The weapons shop for the Haunted Woods is at the deserted Fairground. For Terror Mountain/Ice Caves/happy Valley, the weapons shop is the Ice crystal Emporium in Terror Mountain Ice Caves. For brightvale, its the Brightvale Motery, which sells a myriad of Motes.

As with Defence items, Weapons have different attack types. This includes freezing as an attack feature.

Attack Weapons can be for a certain Species, So that only a certain pet can use it. Examples of these are Uni attack Pods, which I have personally used in the past, Cybunny Collar and Curved Wocky Sabre
If you wish to know what type of Weapons are available for your pet, type in their species into the battlepedia. Note: Uni's ar harder to search for, as everything with 'Uni' in the title comes up, such as Tunic.
There are also different types of weapons, called Ranged, and Close, which determine how far away our pet will be to use the weapon.
Items such as Bows are a perfect example of a close attack weapon. This symbol shows you if the weapon is a close attack item.

Items such as a Frost Cannon are a good example of a ranged attack weapon. This symbol shows you if the weapon is a ranged attack item.

Now, there are also other attack options when you level up your pet, these are essential when battling. Depending on your pet's species, they will have many different attack abilities (do not confuse this with the abilities that you get with the bottled faeries, these are attack options that are given to you as your pet levels up) although the abilities are the same for the same species. For example, My uni Shayley223 has attacks such as Uni Kick and Uni heal. These do not require a item slot, so you can have 2 items and an ability going at the same time.

Healing Items

These are very important when fighting in the Battledome, as you will loose Hit points, no matter how strong your pet is, or how good your defence weapons are, there will always be something that your opponent has that will harm you. So, Healing items will help you when you are in dire need or when you need a little pick-me-up. The most common can be found in the healing springs, but DONT buy them from there, you can get them for much less by using the Shop wizard, they are sold for under 100np. These are one times use items, but some cannot be taken into the Battledome.

Healing potions (e.g Healing Potion I) cannot be taken into the battledome, but they can be used outside of the battledome.

Elixirs (e.g Lime Elixir) can be taken into the Battledome and these will heal your pets. The amount they heal is shown on their description.

There are other potions as well that can heal, and restore your pet, such as:

Dewberry Reviver

Super Strength Healing Potion

Bubbling Healing Goo

Essence of Everlasting Apple

Some items such as the Bag of Healing Dust heals your pet, restoring it's HP (HitPoints).

I'll Heal your pet in battle

True, a Bag of Healing Dust might not be right enough for your budget, Since this item is selling at around 13 million NP at the trading post.

Essential Items To Use

Now, onto some Essential Items for a small budget.
I'd suggest going for a Scarab Ring. These are wonderful Items, as they defend and Attack in the same turn, but are quite cheap at around 1000np so you don't need to spend tons of them. For best Results, get two, although this is Unnecessary, and one will do fine when battling.
I've used this item before and has gotten me through some tight situations. A lot of people tend to go for this item, especially when just starting to battle or when they have a tight budget.

If you want cheap but effective, here are some more items that might interest you.

A scamander blade is cheap at just over 1000np, but can be quite damaging.

An Obsidian Dagger is very effective and very cheap at around 300-500np. This might not look good, since its very cheap, but I have used this myself and its very good when you have a small budget to contend with.

Tested Uni Items
Im a Uni Owner and think its good to know that someone has tested some of the items available. Ive had nearly all the Uni battledome Items that have been, and I can give you some of my own personal choices to keep for the battledome.

Uni Attack Pods - these are very useful and I use them myself at the moment with my Uni. These are expensive however, at around 35,000np, but if you have the money and are positive about battling your Uni, then get these.
Uni Elixir - a potion that conjures up an elixir when used in battle, its a must if you have a Uni. This is also a part of my equipment at the moment. Not as expensive as the attack pods, this elixir goes for around 7000-9000np.
Uni Body Armour- I advise anyone who's battling a uni to get this. At around 8,000np, its quite cheap for something that is essential. This defends against darkness and physical attack. though if you want to spend a little more and get more out of a defence item, then I'd suggest getting 'Full Uni Armour' , though its much more expensive, at 1.35 million.
Silver Uni Items - These include Silver uni helm, Silver uni boots, Silver uni Kite Shield and Silver uni Wing guards. I wouldn't suggest going for these, although they might do a bit more of defence than maybe a uni body armour, but it limits the amount of items you can equip, so not allowing you to have more weapons and healing items.
