One day, the group headed away from the valley, and to where they were forbidden: Terror mountain. This mountain loomed above the valley like an omen, and it was rarely visited by the bori. Not only was it frigid, had deep snow and treacherous ice, but it was also the home of the Snowager. The giant, icy snake lived in a small, perpetually frozen cave at the peak of the mountain. In this cave, it kept an impressive hoard of rare and enviable items, and it protected them viciously. Despite this, quite a many have tried to enter the cave and grab an item, and some have succeeded, but there are also a fair amount of unfortunates who have never returned.

Of course, the young bori were, indeed, headed to the Snowager's cave that day. They wanted to test their skills, and have a little thrill outside of the mundane life in the valley.
When the bori finally reached the peak of the mountain, they were numb from the cold and tired from so much climbing, a struggle with all the ice on the mountain. Nonetheless, they advanced toward the Snowager's cave. When they reached the entrance, two of the bori dared their friend, Arctic, to go inside. Though nervous, Arctic agreed; he knew his friends would follow him.
As Arctic slowly tiptoed through the cave, he became more afraid. The Snowager was gargantuan, bigger than he had imagined, and he knew that the power of such a creature could be unfathomable.

Arctic looked over his shoulder, and expected to see his friends. Instead, he saw nothing but the cave entrance. He only heard faint strains of laughter further down the mountain, as his friends abandoned him.
Arctic felt a lurch of fear as he realized he was alone, but he didn't turn back. He wanted to grab an item to show his former friends. Show them how much braver he was for staying.
Arctic approached the massive pile, and stared in awe at the amazing items that it held. He reached out his paw and grabbed the first thing he touched. His claw made a scraping noise as it brushed across the item, and the Snowager snuffled and groaned, then awoke.
Arctic gasped, and dropped the item onto the icy floor. His eyes widened in fear, and he began to back put of the cave. However, he didn't move quick enough; the Snowager reared its head up, let an immense roar, which shook the cave, and fired a torrent of ice at the young bori.
The attack blasted Arctic out of the cave, down the side of the mountain, and finally, to rest on an unseen ledge. The blast chilled his entire body to the bone, and left him encased in a block of ice. His 'friends' never came back to look for him.

200 years passed, and the ice block, still resting on the ledge, suddenly melted. After all these years, Arctic had not died. He had stayed in suspended animation, his only bodily function an aging to adulthood. However, during this time, he had changed completely. Being encased in ice for so long turned his entire body into ice, never to melt no matter the temperature. Inside, he was also frozen, even his heart, which forever held the hatred and anger that he felt as he lay there on the ledge.
As it burned right at this moment, Arctic fashioned a crude dagger out of materials he found on the mountain. Once it was finished, he headed down toward Happy Valley.
What he did not realize is, while packs of bori still lived in the valley, the one he lived with had died centuries ago.

When he reached the valley, he attacked the first pack he saw, and killed a fair amount of them. He only received a cut across his left eye from the ordeal, and a small chunk was taken out of his left ear.
However, even after this massacre, he was not satisfied. He wandered across the frigid valley, looking for anyone to vent his hatred on. After all, the surviving bori in the pack had already ran off.
As he walked along, fuming, the veins in his legs that had not yet frozen, began to fill with ice. As they froze, they turned dark, giving him a permanent case of frostbite. Beneath his eyes also turned dark, only increasing his evil appearance.
After a while, Arctic collapsed from the sheer cold taking over his body.

He was found by a young girl named Sprinter, and despite his bad attitude, she adopted him into her large family of pets. A few weeks after, Sprinter brought home a human about her age, named Ash. He had been found on the beach as a Jetsam, and had endured a horrible life of torture, loneliness and starvation. Arctic hated him on sight, especially after he recovered from his extreme depression. He was sickeningly sweet, innocent and unbearably irritating to him. Arctic wanted very badly to kill him and his mother (who was even more sickening to him), who came to them a few months later, and tried many times. However, every time he tried, someone was there to stop him. Once Ash's father came along, he mostly gave up; it was too difficult with so many people on his side.

Later that year, Ash moved out of Sprinter's house with his parents and growing family. Arctic followed them, and took residence in their basement.
2 years passed, and one night, Arctic couldn't take the anger any longer. He had to kill. He had to get rid of the infuriating voices of Ash and his siblings upstairs.
He came up from the basement, and attacked Ash and his family and friends. Ash was no longer thin and weak as he had been 2 years before, but Arctic, still being larger, could overpower him. He had pinned him down, and had his dagger poised above him. He was hopeful in reaching his goal, but then Ash's father came to the rescue. Once Ash was out of Arctic's grip, he and his father fought Arctic with their powers, and Arctic lost the fight. The family threw his lifeless body into the sea.

2 more years passed, and Arctic lay in the frozen river of Happy Valley, which eventually runs to the sea. He rose out of the snow, changed once more. The ice and hate have, undeniably, taken over his body much more than before. It will continue to do so during each dormancy. As for now, he continues to wander Neopia, searching for Ash, or anyone else, that crosses his path.
