*"She'll have you beat three times over."*
The words were a statement; fact.
*"I doubt that," you retort, eyeing your solidly built arms, "I'm superior knight in the king's squad."*
The old woman laughed as she cleaned a faded coffee cup. The town had been small and the idea of rebellion had yet to reach even an area this remote. Surprising, seeing as most of the other small towns tucked away had known. Orders were orders though- a knight to each town, reinstalling order, fishing out rebels. It was for the good of the king and the kingdom itself.
Yet, when you had approached the old diner- the only thing seen as a meeting place- what with your armored steed and battle gear; the people hasn't even seamed remotely afraid as the other towns had. In fact they had simple said they didn't need a guard- before you have a chance to explain- and that their town witch outnumber you.
A useless little old town witch who probably only knew how to apply wrappings and bake herbs. And it was female.
*"Why are you ridiculing me?" you say, slightly annoyed.
An elderly man glanced briefly upwards before adding his own two cents, "She's not…Iaz can burn ya' socks off."*
Ha.
*"Where dose this witch dwell?"*
The bar maid responded this time, "Out in the woods, west of town."*
Some protector living out in the wood? What a joke. But the woman went on, "But she's here now, anyways."*
A small snort could be heard behind you, and you turn around to see a scowling figure n the door frame. Tall and powerfully built, a woman leavened on a staff studying you. Her hair was long and a rich brown with feathers and bead weaved into like decoration. In fact- her entire body seamed decorated with straps and strings covering her simple worn cloths.
Her gloved hands gripped the long, dark staff, which resembled a thick branch that grew around a golden orb at one end- and what more- leaves intertwined along the length on the staff. But she still was an obstacle, these townsfolk would not respond to you or any kings' order until you proved them that you were above her. You just hoped it wouldn't come to a fight, beating women is a petty and low thing for a knight to do.
*"Well, witch, I have come from the king himself in order too-"*
She cut you off, "In order to what? Save these people, or frighten them into your control? I despise you and your kind; who thing you are above the common person. And don't get me wrong, I know what you are thinking; in fact, I could even guess what's going on back in the castle, when news of the outside world hasn't reached here since last fall."*
*"Now," she straightened up, and began to walk out the door as if you were past her interest, "I suggest that you leave."*
You hasten to follow her, now extremely irritated at being put off by this witch, "And who, exactly, do you think you are?"*
She had been standing a ways off, looking over to the crops fields when she turned around, her face blank…did she seam to glow now?, saying simply "The name is Iaz."*
*"Well, Iaz, I d not think you understand who you are dealing with…"*
*"Do I? Or is it, do you known who you are looking at? My guess is no, but some intelligence must lay behind those eyes."*
Iaz had turned around to face you, feet firm in the ground and she held her staff loosely at her side, but the meaning was clear enough. You were quick on your feet; already in a mere few seconds were circling her…you would show her.
And it all happened in a blur…she had charged sooner than expected, sending you off balance and pain raced across your chest…and a bright searing light erupted and your vision was cut off. How the light hurt…it burned so bad.
And she was before you now, pinning you to the ground, and ball of light glowing in her upraised hand, "You know, there are only three others know to be as strong as myself. And I doubt you qualify to even talk to them."

My Story
Part One; The Runaway

Amayiaza sat in the great wooden chair with her hands folded neatly in her lap.
Her back was strait as if a board was up her dress and she held her head high.
Her amber eyes fallowed the old lady's wobbly pace as she turned and left the room, closing the door behind her. As soon as the Aisha herd the fait click as the ancient door fell into place and closed, she slumped back in her chair and sighed. The day's lessons were over, finally.
She slowly stood up and walked across the elegant carpet that lined the room, past richly painted portraits, marble and gold. But she paid them no heed, for her eyes were locked on the window that viewed the castle gardens and the forest beyond.
Reaching the window seat, she sat down on the silken bench and opened the lach and gracfully pushed the glass outward. A breah of cool air washed over her face, cleansing her as she peered out.
She reached up and toched the tighly wound bun of hair on her head, which was, only proper for young ladies. Amayiaza hands felt for the pins that held it together, yanked them out and left her hair to the mercy of the wind.
*" You know how much I hate it when you let your hair down." A voice said with a sigh, "What would your mother say if she saw you doing that...*
Amayiaza rolled her eys and turned to look at her personal maid, Nia. She was the only person the young Aisha trusted. "Hmp, she wouldn't have a chance to say anything at all, for she would have fainted dead cold."*
The old lupesess raised her eyebrow, "And what sort of faint would this be?"
*"Perferrably not one her fake ones, anyways, what brings you Nia? You're early for supper.*

*" Ahh, well, we have a vistior to the castle. I'm to try to get you in one of your finest dresses." Nia turned, leading out to the hallway, and Amayiaza muttered and trudged along, "And the queen pleads for you to at least bring your staff."*
*"Who in great heaven is it this time? How many visitors have we dined with in the last month that I have needed to dress finely for?" She looked at her gloved hands and traced her mind for memroies of previous suppers, "Ahh, too many. That last man was vile! Not to mention his lazy eye. I don't know why I even bother coming to half of these dinings. If this dosn't stop, I'll start skipping them like I did before, when Father sought out trading with new kingdoms.*
The two stepped into Amayiaza's bed chambers, and the Aisha dropped onto her bed as Nia walked swiftly to her closet room.
*"I mean, it's not like we need anything from them, much less, I've never even seen half of them before.*
Nia stepped out holding a long moss-green gown, with golden threading and that flowed onto the floor in many layers of rich materal. Holding it up to the girl she ordered, "Dress," Amayiaza glared at the lupe and swiped the dress from her hands as she continued, "My guess, is that you have seen these gentlmen before, you just choose not to remember. Now for your hair.*
Amayiaza finished putting on the dress and many petticoats and grumbled, not for the first time that day.

An hour or so later, Amayiaza walked out of her room, bound toword the dining hall with her hair pinned tightly to her head once more. As she set off down the long hallway, Nia raced after her holding up her long staff.
*" I knew you'd forget this! Take it!" She shoved the staff into the Aisha's hands and turned around.
Muttering, Amayiaza gripped the staff. She hated doing everything so proper. She had always been stubborn as a child, resisting her parents' whishes... When she could, she would run outside and play with the maids' children. That was, until she was caught, and had been forbidden to play with the children again. Amayiaza had deeply regretted so, they were friendly with her, and sometimes, if she dressed in common cloths, they didn't reconise or treat for who she really was. No, no, no! she though savagly as she pounded down the hallway. Amayiaza had been able to sneak down to the maid quartars again, but no one wanted to play. With their parents jobs at risks after being threatened, they were scared to risk being found playing with the princess.
All the nobel children only wanted to sew and do proper things. No fun. The Aisha rounded a coner and gripped her staff tighter and scowled.
She had eventually put up with the pointless lessons, and carried the stupid staff around, after she finally tried of arguing with her mother. The staff, which symbolised she was going to be ruler one day in the distant future. The staff that which, as time goes by, would have jewels and ornaments added as she porgressed into a young lady. Progressed into a queen. If she wasn't married off, first, that is.

Amayiaza entered the dining room and took her seat next to her father who was busily chatting to the queen. One of the servants rushed up behind her and took her staff and stood silently in the corner of the room. The Aisha's eyes wander along the table, past all the normal nobels that lived in the castle. Then her eyes landed on a young blond man, with whom many of the younger woman seemed to be enchanted with. She could see them practicly drooling after him, and blushing if he looked at one too long. She didn't reconize him, as he gave her a warm smile, she looked away, more irritated than anything.
Sitting down, she sighed in her own unpleasent thoughts, as a roar of thunder sounded outside.

*"Oh my," She heard mother say in her ringing voice, and conversation about the weather picked up.
*"The pleasure to great you, young miss," Amayiaza jumped and looked next to her, for the noble had moved into the seat to her right, "My name is Prince Lasreeuo, I am from the Kingdom of Zamear."*
The Aisha looked at this Lasreeuo, thinking he sounded a little slow. Though, she thought, he was from a vast kingdom and his parents were quite wealthy, they could most likely afford him the highest education.
*"My name is Amayiaza, and I'm, well, you should know what kindom I'm from by now."* She said a bit curtly.
*"Curin, if I'm not mistaken."* He replied, grinning happily.
She sighed, this was going to be a long supper.

Unsurprisngly, it was. Amayiaza had forced herself to be friendly to the prince, as she kept feeling her father's eyes bruning spots upon her. She didn't want to mess anything up with another kingdom, that was that last thing she wanted to deal with.
After the final dish was served, the Aisha though she could stand this empty-minded man any londer as he talked on and on about himself, he father turned to her.
*"My dear daughter, how do you like young Lasreeuo, you seam to be getting along quite well?" He said sweetly smiling at the prince who grinned stupidly back.

*"Uh," She hesitated, "He is a very kind person."* She wanted to pound her head on the table, how could he not see threw Lasreeuo's looks? Couldn't he see the empty-minded person inside?
*" Well then, we have finished our courting, we have our man!" The king roared, and stood up, "For my daughter, is betrothed to young Lasreeuo of Zamear!"*
It was only then that Amayiaza saw the parents of the prince sitting near her father, and the color drained from her face.
Most clapped at the annoucment, some young women looked completely jealous. Amayiaza dropped her fork and it landed with a clatter on her plate as the impact of the words finally reached her.
Then Lasreeuo stood up looking completely giddy, and started talking. But she wasn't listening. So it had been courting? A simple dinner finishes it all? How could he? Marry me off to some rich kingdom for your own benifit! She was roaring at her parents inside. That was it.
*"How could you?" She nearly shout it at her father and she saw her mother do one of her fake faints, "I'm tired of your royalist ways. I want to marry someone I actually like, and who dosn't make me cringe with thier intelligance level.!"
The room seamed to freeze. She jumped out of her chair, without thinking, grabbed the golden staff and ran.
She tore down the hallway, heaving up her skirts, past surprised maids and turned away from the main entrance were the guards were. My window will have to do, she thought as she raced to her room. Amayiaza ripped off her torn dress and dug around in her closet for some decent clothing and supplies. She ripped of a bottom a black skirt and threw on an old brown shirt, changing her gloves. She ran across the room to her grand window over looking the lawns, and threw her staff out it, thinking it could land a heavy blow to anyone who crossed her path.
Jumping out onto the outside ledge, she climbed down the wall, as she had done so many time before when she was young. It was pooring, the skys were a dark grey, and she landed in a large mud puddle, dirting her legs and tail. She picked up the stupid staff, and ran across the lawns, leaping over bushes as thunder roared in her ears. Amayiaza, was soaking by the time she entered the woods, and kept running.
She couldn't take it anymore. Now they wre choosing for who she would love? What kind of life was that? She had always envied Nia, who had a choice in things.
She teared past the land and trees untill she could no longer breath, and she collapsed on the roots agaisnt an acient tree and slowly looked up at the sky threw the maple leaves.
A bright streak of light filled up the clouds, and then there was an ear splitting crack as it meat the tree's branches. The world closed in around Amayiaza, and she passed out.

My Story
Part Two; Light

Amayiaza woke with a start, feeling slightly disoriented as light shined down upon her face in an obtrusive manner. Sighing in annoyance, she moved to sit up, but at a sharp pain jolted through her body, she let her body fall back down onto her bed of leaves. She felt like she was bruised all over- as if she had fallen down a cliff rather than to the forest floor. Every move ached, so she just lay there instead, like a broken doll, analyzing the quite forest, wishing the sun would get out of her face. Grumbling to herself, she turned to glare at the sun- not that it would do any good, but there wasn't any sun. She realized this was a sudden jolt as a murky grey sky stretching out in all the directions, meet her eyes instead.
Amayiaza blinked, her mind once fuzzy from the night, was now awake and pumping with adrenalin. The lighted shined brighter around her face, forcing the Aisha to squint. There must be someone here, she thought abruptly, and she knew then that they had come. Her father would not let her go; he would come after her- but where were the men? Horses? Dogs? Anything? She couldn't hear anything, and all that she could see was the pulsing light that was steadily growing dimming. Forcing herself to sit up, her body was braced for paint; yet it was gone. The idea that she was crazy and her thoughts now altered crept into her mind, and she tried to force it away. The glowing had now subsided and she peered around, starting at the large ancient trees that loomed around her and at the young plants growing across the ground. A long piece of twisted wood now caught her eye as she examined the forest; it was winded into a long stick that seamed to have vines of leaves growing in the creases of wood. A small orb lay embed at one end of the branch.
Taking a shocked breath, she reached out involuntarily for the it, recognizing her staff without too much thought of its new form. The wood felt soft to the touch, yet it was heavy, but oddly well balanced. It immediately reminded her of the pole she often used in the defense lessons she had been allowed to take after much pestering when she was younger.
Her eyes traveled its length as she held it, mesmerized, as it began to glow slightly- and the small leaves woven into the wood began to twitch and grown, moving along the surface of the wood like a graceful snake…
Amayiaza dropped it quickly, and the long staff landed with a soft thud in the grass below. The glowing stopped swiftly as it had begun. Or, as soon as it had left her touch, she was utterly puzzled. She crouched down, examining the now foreign object. What was it now? Did it retain some sort of magic property that had caused it to change all along? Softly, she ran one of her fingers along the surface, and the soft glowing returned. She only flinched now, and continued to touch her staff, noticing that the light had a warm felling to it; reminding her of sitting in the warm sun or too close to the fireplaces in the palace. The heat crept up her arm, and spread through her body- it felt good. It was a content feeling, and she felt she must have been happier than she had in years. Odd, that a staff would do that to her; make her happy. The yellow light was now growing stronger, nearly blinding her once more when she finally let so, startled once more. And her mind re focused with a sharp realization.
How easy she was distracted! She needed to hide; she was still so close to the castle grounds and they would be looking for her. Panicking, she grabbed the staff- which now remained normal…if anything could be defined as normal now- hesitating. Locating her position was no easy feat, but one thing was true, the forest was large…possible twice the size of the kingdom itself. Amayiaza walked on.

---

The trees were growing larger, their wavering leaves creating a roof above, with long bear trunks wider that a small house meeting the earth below. The ground was slightly damp but a rather clean rich black brown- and a soft layer of pine needles made a carpet in places. A few ferns and mosses grew in places trying to reach what little sun was able to pass through the leafy roof- but mainly there were no small plants here. Because of this all- Amayiaza felt that she was out in the open and the feeling of being watched intensified. She had walked the entire morning, or it seamed it had been that long; it was impossible to tell the time of day when the sky was block; when hunger pains finally took a stand and she sunk to the forest floor.
It was a miracle that she had been able to go no all day without letting her thoughts stray to food, how strong her will was to leave her gamily and way of life being her, and to forget everything and move along. Now, as she sat there, suddenly week and tired, she looked longingly to those treetops which seamed hours away…
Half dazed, she found herself pushing hands through the powdery dirt, kneading it back and forth- a repetitive movement…comforting, and the earth made her feel warm once more. Warm…why am I so slow today? She scolded herself sharply as she looked down at her hands which were now glowing faintly. But in this denser and darker part of the forest the soft yellow light spread far, turning all the surrounding surfaces pale gold. Glancing warily at her staff, confusion now flooded in her mind…she was finally convinced that she was out of her mind. Hadn't the staff caused the light? What was her hand now doing? The light now was becoming warm and intensifying as she groaned at the whole stupid idea of magic. Never did she once fear any of what had happened since she left, but as soon as she felt something move under her hand that was emerged in the clods of earth did her back stiffen and a chill swept through her body.
Yet the glow immediately ceased. A small plan with tiny green leaves was sprouting from the dirt- which was definitely not there before.
She swore and jumped up, more out of frustration at the unusual occurrence than anything else.
*"Stupid magic! I have no time for this, leave me be!" she cried, yet she knew with a sinking feeling how little good it would do.
Magic? Who needs it? She picked up the staff and walked away, now completely irritates- but thinking better of it all- dropped the staff. Wasn't it the source of it all? Wasn't it? It had to be. She had lived her entire life without magic, aside from the occasional shamans who had no ability at all; but it all proved to be useless. Amayiaza had never needed it, she had always been her hot tempter and sharp words as a way of defense, so why now? Of all places…she was even capable of fighting off pursuers. As she fought with herself, another wave of weakness rippled across her middle, forcing her to sink to her knees. She gazed about dazedly momentarily, before she got slowly to her feet once more, using a tree trunk as support. Her eyes reflected her own confused thoughts and her body's needs and she found herself back to the tree.
A small carpet of green now lay in the center of so much cool brown earth- and the small spindly plant had grown twice its height since she had left. Amayiaza walked closer and got down on her knees, pushing her hair out of her face as she stared at the cursed plant. It was young still, with long stems blending into leaves, but mostly there was buds sprouting from the branches. Reaching out to touch the earth around the plant… her hand was dirty and caked with earth still…and yet nothing happened. What had she done differently before? What was it that made the plant grown so eagerly, so fast, before? In a sense of desperation Amayiaza held out her hand inches from the leaves and murmured an assortment of words to no avail. Sighing in defeat, her thoughts began to wander away again covered with hunger. The feeling of being stuck in a cloud drifted over her body and her eyes, now so heavy, closed as she half heartedly tried to order thoughts to order once more. She was drifting through mist now, how easy it was to stay here and feel at peace. But the need for food was ever present…the pull was equal with the desire of this semi conscious state….but it was a second before she realized her eyes had opened once more.
Light flooded the clearing, but it faltered as if a wind threatened to douse it? What caused that? She watched in exasperation as the pant stirred and began to expand, growing in size. What was it that caused the light to flow? Not the staff…but herself zoning out? The white haze refused to come over her mind again, and the light was only a faint glow now, emitting from her raised hands. Her anger quickly drained once more as realized how weak she was…and all she could think about was her need…her need of food.
A calm drifted into the air as if it was a real thing besides a mere feeling, and the light blazed from her hands, a searing heat pouring from its core. It had utterly no direction and it blinded her harshly.
The Aisha laughed, thinking, for now she knew how to trigger this blazing light, just think about how hungry you are and picture an ivory steak. Well, perhaps, not the steak part. The light began to falter once more as her mind wandered away from her original thoughts, but instead of thinking of food, she watched the plant grow- the movement of its leaves and stems, avoiding thinking of the darkness that surrounded her. The light instead flowed directly at the plant now, surrounding it as the leaves drank it up, instead of blinding her. But she noticed her entire body now shimmered slightly…
The plant was intriguing to watch, as it morphed and matured. Slowly she rose with the tree as it gained height, as her bubble of light she to fast forward time before her. The tree now loomed over her and few flowers with soft orange petals emerged, blending into fruits before falling to the ground quickly. The tree was in t world of its own, feeding on the magic freely at its disposal. The soft green stems dulling into bark and leaves cycling from green to red, falling, and budding once more. Time seamed to disappear, as leaves fell to the ground in a steady patter, covering her feet. Time was passing…
As more and more cycles passed through the tree, more fruit grew with each "season", growing in size and quaintly. Amayiaza quickly drew back her hands, crushing them to her sides as she darted backwards when the tree was in a season of bearing fruit. The growing halted abruptly and she grinned. She now has a person tree with plenty of fruit to eat. She bite into one, which fit snugly into her hand…it tasted bitter, but still. Food. She leaned against the tree trunk among the pile of leaves and fallen fruits and stuffed herself. She could survive her now. What of the magic? What explained it neither mattered…for honestly, Amayiaza didn't care. There wasn't a need to know. She reached over and picked up a fallen branch, and pulled out a small knife from her belt, and began to sharpen the wood at one end. Food was great, but she would need to hunt. But she was fine now, it nothing really mattered at the moment.

---

The staff, once familiar, as it had been at her side for years with its cold golden feel, now felt one with her arms. It was right, like it had been apart of her for so long, even though she had only known it as it was for a short part of time.
Amayiaza whacked the end of it across the tree, the impact searing jolts through her body. Although she leaped back, she landed on her nimble feet and positioned herself in a crouch, before jumping into the air once more—and in mid flight, attacked the tree.
She had lived in the forest for many moon cycles now, loosing track as nights blended into day, it was now a blur as time passed. Not that anything was wrong with this; Amayiaza was free to do what she wanted for once. She could spend the entire day working on her staff work. Pounding on trees until they were shreds and she slowly became stronger with practice. But it wasn't realistic to work all day for she needed to hunt. The fruits were decent, but meat was kept her running for longer periods of time. Even in a large forest such as this, animal life was oddly scarce.
So, traveling in search of game was a constant part of her days now. After a while of remaining in one area, Amayiaza was forced to move on. Blindingly moving in random directions, or she sometimes was tracking deer for a few days straight. Her hunting skill though, unlink her staff work, remained of what they had been when she first learned. A proper method taught to kings. The tools she had made were crewed, though her bow and arrow were not too horrible, the rest would barely do. On the other hand, her temporary shelters were much better looking, as she was able to grow trees to form the shape she wanted. It grew easier each time, and she slept in some comfort.
The tree that not stood before her had many fallen braches, and was nearly shredded, as Amayiaza paused, panting. Her eyes began to gaze across the forest as it began to darken as night began to creep in, and the temperature dropped. She waved her hand, and a light formed there, withdrawing her hand, she was able to let it float there and it hovered at her shoulder. As she moved, it followed, lighting her way. She almost smiled at it, grateful, but her face quickly scowled. It was hard to decide if she like the new found magic- it was nearly a curse. A gift,, but sill a burden. She had quickly concluded, after a number of unsuccessful hunting trips, that the power of light only came when there was a physical need for something. Yet, she aimed a part of the light at the trees and with a burst of heat, it exploded into flames. She had some control. But thoughts had barely any influence…only after it first appeared could she get it to anything her thoughts wanted. It was useful at times, but more or less annoying. She was always glowing now, a soft gold light was always radiating from her skin. Not enough to light her way, but it annoyed her greatly…she was not a sparkling faerie. Or a shiny sparkly Edward. (Twilight reference x3) But it only was very strong when she was exhausted and aching, causing her to feel warm, bringing a comforting feel as it seamed to heal her.
So perhaps, that was light dose…heal. Maybe the fruit trees had existed thousands of years ago when the tall trees here were nonexistent or only saplings. Maybe once, colorful trees with those fruit of rich colors grew in great masses, of which their dead remains still existed in the sooty brown earth. They yellow, light must be able to reach down, seeping through the grown like water, and find the old plants long gone and coax it out to the fresh air once more. Letting it grow once more.
Amayiaza shook her head sharply, her thoughts seamed to stray and become more and more wilder the longer she stayed here. She new she was changing, becoming someone else who occupied the same body. But it was weird. When did she ever think of trees? The Amayiaza who had run away was in the distant past now, like a mountain in the distance. Its still there, but blurry and covered with clouds…but who was she now? Growling to herself (like Edward!) she cursed magic, what was it bringing her too? Life was so much simpler before.
She had now reached her hut, and she stood in the now dark clearing as the light was doused. The rush of a small stream nearby filled her ears as she gazed into the blanket of black, letting her eyes adjust. It must be a full moon, for a few strands of moonlight was able to trickle through the leaven roof…a white light shimmering above, so foreign to her now.

My Story
Part Three; What is Right

It had finally dawned on Amayiaza that she must be north now- the nights grew chiller and she had caught more and more elk; a species only found in the far northern reaches of her kingdom. It was funny how she still thought of it as her kingdom; it was no longer hers to inherent. She was apart of it now, a creature that crawled these woods alone. She was restringing her bow once more, for it had snapped once again, as she sat under a pine. Pines only tolerated the cooler weather with the sturdy needles, because during the winter they are able to thrive; when the high trees lost their leaves and light was able to flood through the floor below. But it was summer now and Amayiaza had found more and more of the short little sturdy trees across her path. They proved useful, sap essential when string was scarce. She stood and lifted her pack which she had woven- what was it, weeks ago?- and continued on her travels.
With the elk there was appearing more and more game, so her trips became short and the distances small. The tall trees above who had always reminded evenly dispersed, with their tall branches that seamed to kiss heaven, seamed to be spreading apart and air became lighter. A variety of plant life was now in plain sight across the dirt floor, and glimpses of blue could be seen.
It was a few days before there was hardly an of the large trees left, and all the remained were pines, though they barely covered the sky. Nights were even cooler than before, and she began to strengthen in an effort to keep her warm in her patchy cloths. She now appreciated that now.
The Aisha yelled in delight when she finally reached the open field of grass at the end of the forest...it was no nice to see grass once more. The smell was so fresh and inciting, with a tint of wet earth that caressed her face. The itch that came with wading through grass was easy to ignore and she literally danced as she walked. Birds flocked across the sky as she approached the river- or that's what it sounded like, in the distance. And it was, but still so far out of reach as she finally was able to see it. Because she now stood on the edge of a great grassy plateau, and the earth before her had been scooped out the ground and gorged out with burned and stony sides of a canyon that held a roaring river. But it was on the side closest to Amayiaza that a town stood, small from what she could see of it, with farms along the river side and farms dotting the landscape below.

Her cuts from the rough climb down the canyon walls were still oozing blood, and a mixture of light now combined with them as the cuts painfully healed. She wasn't sure how she had managed how to get down at all, but she had. More dirty and her cloths more worn than ever before, she entered a wheat field. Her senses had lost her, but her instinct led the war to the human population that lay before in the distance.
This was a farm town for sure, it would be ages before she would able to walk there, but it was worth it. How good it would to sleep in a real bed, and talk to actual people…not that she had been talking to herself. Oh no, never. The worse of her cuts began to heal when a sharp voice caused her to freeze. S cold moved through her body as her light was doused and limbs fell to stone.
*"I said who the bloody gates are you?" the rough voice repeated.
It wasn't until the man had spoken the second time when she felt she could move again. She jerked her head around to peer at a man who sat perched on a mare; he was old and scrawny, with small eyes and ragged cloths not much better than what Amayiaza had on herself. She eyed him warily, uncertain at his tone.
*"Amay… Iaz. I'm Iaz." She called over to him, setting her eyes with defiance. He mustn't know who she is….
She wasn't quite sure why she had said Iaz, she was aimed at a different name entirely. She was different now, right? But a small part of her old self remained, and Iaz was a part of Amayiaza as much as Amayiaza was someone else completely. Amayiaza was the princess…Iaz was the magic of the light…who had lived on her own for so long now.
*"And what are you doin' crushin' those crops?" he said in a disgruntled voice.
The Aisha breathed out a sigh of relief, in small town of this, there was no way they would even know they had a princess…"Well obviously I'm not known to these parts," she said, pointing her aching arm to the cliff high above...the healing had already drained her aching body, "There is not a lot roads around here."*
At least she hadn't seen any in the brown expanse of crops surrounding her, she had guessed.
*"New here, eh? Where you exactly from? We get about three visitors a summer, " he said scratching his head absent-mindedly.
*"Only three a year? Do you take in travelers?"*
He eyed her beadily, "I sup'ose, I'm Jaoul, by the way."*

He led her down into the town center, it was a very dusty trip indeed. Iaz snorted each time she inhaled the dust, and when she finally saw the town buildings, she supposed any paint job would be covered up by all the dust. But they were all weather worn and worn, much less having bright paint. Mostly houses and barns were nearby, but there were a few goods store with hitched horses along the front.
Iaz grasped her staff slightly nervously, and wondering for once, why had her magic had deserted her. She wished it was here now…she felt slightly empty. Perhaps it knew that is wasn't safe to be seen…which really, was for the best.
Jaoul dismounted his mare and tried the old thing up before leading into a small diner. A few aged men sat at a main counter reading newspapers while their coffee steamed inviting smells to the doorway. A plump woman wandered in at the sound of the door and smiled at Jaoul.
*" Mornin'," she said in an odd accent, that made Iaz realize that Jaoul had one like it, "So who'd you drag in now, you old turf bag?"*
He sat down on a bar stool and took a coffee the lady offered him before answering, "Caught her wandering Johnson's south field like a lost dog. Needs a place to stay." He paused before adding, "Iaz, I think?"*
Jaoul seamed to have said all he was going to for the day because he now turned to some dirty old crossword puzzle.
*"Iaz?" the lady scrutinized Iaz's worn cloths and the staff she held loosely in her hand, as the Aisha nodded, "Well, I'm Headya- sit down sweetie, and I'll get a cup for you."*
Iaz only raised her eyebrows slightly as Headya walked back in slapping a glass down in front of her, "So," was all Headya said.
Iaz was now sitting on a stool and snorted softly before saying, "I'm looking for a place to stay. I've been traveling on my own for who knows how long- I mean to stay for a while," she paused, "I will work for my stay."*
She hasn't noticed that everyone in the vicinity had turned to stare at her as she finally began to speak…and she only rolled her eyes at their blank looks. Nice to notice my presence won't go unnoticed, she though to herself, but then again, I'm not exactly a regular sight.
Headya pursed her lips before finally responding, "You know Cuba has been underhanded since her husband passed- she might take you on." She sighed and glanced out the dirty window, "Though times are hard here, you'd see yourself lucky to have a bed and meal."*
The Aisha nodded at the warning before standing up abruptly and saying, "Where can I find her?"*
Headya looked surprised at her abruptness but walked over to the door and onto the front porch, motioning for Iaz to follow.

--

The walk was more like a trip, but even as the passed through the town she felt eyes rest on her. She was a tall tree among short, a alien in this land. The path she followed was dry and scrawny plants grew along it, all of which looked brown and parched. She glanced up at the sky, which was a rich blue against the dry brown land – stretching far and open in every direction, cloudless. She smiled wistfully, at the sky- still grateful that was able to see it once more. It is evident tat this small town had seen little of rain, yet her forest- for she had lived in it long to call It hers- was so green and full of life.
Or was it?
The only trees that were in there were the large ancient ones, that were unknown skyscrapers of a tree, and the northern pines. Sure mosses and ferns grew jubilantly in the dark cool soil, but rain? Would she have felt it? Or would the roof of leaves block it out completely…or would it run off a little?
Rain.
Ptah.
It was not her element.
…but light is.
The annoying thought caused the Aisha to notice the light fading from her body- leaving It still dirty, but whole and healed.
A elemental of light.
Hmmm.
The name wasn't too bad.
Were there other thing she could do with the light- besides heal herself- and old dead tree- could it be used in battle? She eyed her staff…it wasn't too bad of an idea.
But her thoughts suddenly evaporated as she reached the farm house, which was old and weathered-worn, much the like the rest of the town. A barn stood off in at the far end of the war, with a horse standing bored just outside the door.
A voice carried from the doorway and Iaz moved towards, walking over the hay little yard. Dim rays of light pierced their war through the roof into the dark barn inside. A middle-aged woman could be seen mucking out a horse stall- the source of the voice. It was a few minutes before the woman noticed Iaz, who stood blocking the sunlight that cam in through the door. She straightened up and fell quiet- her lean body was fitted I loose cloths that hung off of her frame in grey rags.
Surprise at seeing a stranger crossed her eyes before she said, "How can I help ya?"*
Iaz shrugged, ignoring her odd -disallowed_word-lalala cutting out extra writing)---

She was to pick crops.
Better than nothing, though,
The fields were not much green than anything else in the area. In fact- all the fields were poor in health. Iaz narrowed her eyes as the dusty cloud behind Cuba's wagon swelled up as the woman returned to the barn. There was too much to do, but help would be sent later in the day when hands could be spared.
She stared hopelessly at the vegetables which lay withered on the ground, small and weak. It was depressing- but she set to work picking, it was only after an hour when she realized just how little she had gathered. The dusty brown vegetables barely even covered the wagon bed. Grumbling to herself, knowing what supper she would get now for it wouldn't look too much different from these fields. And, as if on cue, the familiar panes of hunger struck her once more.
Her mood worsened as each time she touched a wilting plant to take its vegetables, her hands glowed briefly before she withdrew her hands to toss the yield over into a pile again. And with her wandering attention span, her concentration was gone. A great farmer I'll be, she thought glumly. Defeated, she laid her hands down a few inches above a patch of plants- letting the golden light engulf them. She was quite surprised when the leaves spread far and wide along the stems that shot upward. These plants were obviously undernourished, if they had a capability of growing that large…
Once Iaz's hunger was calmed, a felling of guilt crept over her…she shouldn't have ate. But her need had yet again taken control of her magic- she wouldn't have had a chance to tame it. She gazed out at Cuba's and other surrounding fields…it was selfish of her to feed only herself. What about the need of others? All of them were in poor health…and Iaz wanted to help these people- even if she had only spoken to them each briefly and other strangers she had never met. Was it there fault that they hadn't seen rain in months? Their fault that they were starving because of something they couldn't control?
But why was this strong feeling come to her now? She shook her head as her eyes wandered across the crooked crop lines now. Her need for something had always seemed to cause the magic to flow freely- but now- there wasn't a chance. Will was never enough no matter how much she focused on it.
The staff lay on the ground a few feet away, basking in the hot afternoon sun that had begun to pound down. Quickly retrieving it, she fingered the dark wood- her nail tracing the grooves while her eyes swept the land, calculating. Whenever she held her staff, she felt more powerful – as if connected to the flowing magic that filled her. Whatever she was doing looked and seamed no different though- but the feeling was there.
Closing her eye Iaz slowly put the tall staff in the front of her- gripping it tightly; reveling the whites of her knuckles. Its like I'm starting all over again- with the tree- for no matter what she attempted…nothing resulted.
She found herself kneeling on the ground once more in defeat, where she glared at the dirt, while placing her palm on the cold ground. Cold- how odd it was how much she appreciated the sun; how she never seamed to notice its constant warmth; her own warmth that came from unknown sources now.
It happened like a strike of lightning, flashing across the sky.
Light swelled from her hand that touched the earth, searing in pain as the magic streamed like veins across the earth; with the crops eagerly drinking up light. Before her eyes they began to transform in droves…everything in her vision had received healing light. But as suddenly as it began, it had ended. Iaz fell over, her head dizzy and she felt weak, as if she hasn't eaten from days,
I'm going to pass out again, she thought bitterly, stupid unreliable body. But a rare smile reached across her facial features as her mind went blank.

My Story
Part Three; Elemental of Light

It was raining heavily that day. Figures, Iaz grimaced to herself. But, in honesty, she didn't mind.
The lean Aisha walked out of her rough new cabin that smelled of fresh wood and sap. Tall trees towered around her, though she wasn't so far into the forest tat they completely blocked the rain of which was came pattering down, landing in puddles on the fine earth below.
It had been easy enough to grow a small forest of smaller plants around her new homes, as soon as he had finished building it. She doubted, though, that she would ever be able to control her powers completely. They seamed to act on their own accord- as if the light was a creature of its own, occupying her body.
She gazed down to the trail that led to the small village- they had provided anything that she might need if she would continue to live in the are and help fight the rough reasons of drought that racked this region. It was nice enough at time, but the habits she had developed of hunting were slightly missed. These habits of which Iaz had acquired while living for so long on her own- the quite reach of trees had forever left an imprint on her.
But that was not the only reason for living so far out here, of course, for the villagers remained wary of her- grateful, yet always nervously watching, still a strange sight, always a strange sight. Especially when one of the village girls had come across her early one morning practicing with her staff…
Still, she could go down there for company when she need it. But Iaz was a worker of magic, strong enough for battle- odd for a woman. She doubted she would fit into any town now; much less a kingdom. Her snort at the idea carried over the still air as she strung her bow and began to head off westward. It would be a while before she could approach any area with game. The rain had begun to come down harder now, the small streams of water pushing through the dirt carrying along small leaves and struggling bugs.
The Aisha hesitated as a sound reached her ears- a muffled sound of feet moving through the fallen pine needles to her right. Iaz slowly retrieved her bow and fingered it as she listened; her ears, due to heritage had always been keen. But minutes and minutes passed, and nothing more could be heard. Moving in the general direction of the sound, disgruntled, the sound began again, but behind her this time. Frowning, she paused, and the movement stopped once more, but moved as soon as she did.
It was then that she realized that it was no animal she was tracking- but, rather, something was tracking her. Someone.
Tensing, she gripped he staff and continued walking, in order to locate the person, for they only walked when she did.
There. West. Behind that pine.
The branches quivered.
Rushing like bird taking flight, Iaz streaked over the earth, her powerful muscles working. She barely registered the purple form as she whirled around the wind spinning about her. A lioness.
She shoved her weight into their side as she flung her staff about for balance.
*" What the…stop!" a surprised voice escaped from the lioness, who seamed suddenly taken aback at Iaz's attack.
Iaz ignored her as she rolled over the lioness, pinning her to the ground with a small snarl. She leaned over her now…how good it felt to be in action…
She hadn't noticed how the downpour had came on like an army now, but a blast of water in her face, caused Iaz to pause. It seamed to have come out of no where…spearing from thin air, the water was as cold as ice.
Instantly a soft yellow glow stretched over her skin and she began to feel warm once more, but her hesitation had given enough time for the lioness to free herself. Iaz began to grit her teeth in frustration, and her hands felt overly warm and light began to…gather there? A burning sensation was quickly growing as she lifted her hand arms and through the light at the creature's face.
It was enough to blind the lioness, though when the magic eventually faded, her face was blank and dazed as she lay helpless now, on the forest floor.
Iaz, picking up her discarded staff, walked over and held the wooden end posed slightly in the air.
*"And who, just exactly, are you?" her voice sounded raspy- using magic always sapped her off her energy.
The lion's blue eyes narrowed as Iaz stood there studying her for the first time. She was large, and had two powerful wings that were flattened against the ground beneath her body. Her coat was long and matted with dirt and it was all very dull in color. Yet it still glistened as if wet.
And, with a flick of her tail, instead of responding, something completely different happened.
Relax, before you kill us both. I mean no harm.
Words, as if spoken aloud, flooded Iaz's mind. Nothing had been said aloud, but the lioness was watching her closely.
Was she hearing things now, too?
The lioness laughed slightly at the frozen figure above her and spoke quietly, "I have been looking for you, and believe me, tracing someone with magic and only the rain as your aid is rather hopeless."*
She stood up, shaking out her wings before staring at Iaz directly, who still didn't respond, "My name is Icecreasts- and I have been searching for a while now."*
Icecreasts went on, "And you are an elemental of light. Not just a magic bearer of light- but the one who bears the root of it all."*
She paused now, shrugging, "You could day you rule the world of light. But the thing is- the world of magic itself is in peril- and you, along with a few other basic elementals are required to save it."*

Amayiaza's Family

Icecreasts

Born into a family, judged by her looks, loved for her pelt, and outcasted by her wings -- Icecreasts never
really learned what it was like to love. Ice's parents had kept her only for her magnificant pelt and flying
abilites, untill one day she fell of their island cloud and pelted twords the churning sea...
As she gasped for breath she felt her body change, mutating into a foarm unknown to her...
a creature of the sea.
Ice will become very close to Iaz, as they band together with the two other elmental neopains and save the
world in the clouds that simply dissapeared...

Floresta

Floresta is the other pet I'm actually appling for.
He is the element earth, and guardian of the first forest - the first forest of magic. Growing up was not
easy for him, born into a poor family and being an outcast made him all the more shy.
But once he gets lost in the forst of Toroee forest, he finds strength were he never knew he had.

Sioa

Sioa, the last elemental...
Elemental of fire... Narrowly, Sioa, a young Maraquan Uni, escaped
the disaster that ruined Maraqua. In a fright, she left her home and fled into the waters of eternal
darkness. Though, somehow she finds she can light her way, with the fire of the sea.
Lonely, and scared, Sioa
retunes to the daylight waters...and ventures out onto land, only to smack into Floresta on the beach.

Flaries

The oldest, but not the wisest of the family but certianly the friendliest. A very outgoing spirited Kougra that also has a deep side. He is often found staring upon the stars to search for answers that only they hold...

Aviael

Also know as the traveler; Aviael was born apart of a royal family, but quickly grew restless. So she set out to see the world, determined to see every last kingdom and learn of all the different ways of life. Friendly and free, she often spends time traveling in the woods and playing her flute.

Aiyaake

Aiyaake is homeless, but makes his life out by living off of what he finds. Until the day comes where he buys an amulet that had caught his eye, but the moment he put it on he was cursed, cursed to be two beings. By night he is something Aiyaake isn't even sure of himself. So he locks himself away...until a young Miss Sioa comes across him.

Zarinte

In the open fields of grain a silent figure dwells,
always watching...
protective over anything but herself, for Zarinte cannnot die.
What would a being then bring to an endless world?

Vianna

Upon the grassy plains of Africa, you can find a silent being over looking the animals grazing and searching for any sign of pain. For Vianna is Healer of the Winds, who's power is of air and she rides the winds in their mighty silence. Unlike all my other characters, Vianna dose not have an acutall neopet representing her. Not yet anyways.

Sayia the White Gruslen

Sayia came from a distant land, of snow and ice, where her pelt almost melted into the surrounding flakes as they danced in the air.
Sayia lived in the castle with Amayiaza, and when the young Aisha made her hasty leave, the Gruslen was quick to fallow.
Sayia is rather large, almost the size of a full white tiger - which she resembels. But still, as Iaz was confused and wandered in the forest outside of the castle grounds, Sayia was there, walking along side, a keen eye out for danger.

Like Iaz, Sayia is strong, and willing to fight along her owner's side. Fierce, yet she always is ready for an attack, but she can also be a dear friend. Hard to befriend, yet when you do, you will never forget her.

Personailty

Amayiaza is stubborn and dislikes properness and royality.
She envies all the maids for their freedom and whishes she was a towns person often and could get
dirty without being stared at.

Iaz, is still stubborn, but learns to accept who she is. She is willing to explore and learn new things that
interest her, such as the wilderness and the other two elementals that she must find. Iaz is tough when it comes
to fighting, and will give a blow with her staff to anyone who tries to hurt her.

The Design

Iaz's design really isn't that complex, there are just a few different way to draw her.

The first reference, is what she looks like after she ran away from her family and castel. I usually draw Iaz looking like this.
The second reference, is what Amayiaza appears when she still lived in the castel. She shortened her name after she ran away.
And the third reference, is what Iaz would appear if you wish to draw her as a quad.

I hope these help you, if you have any questions, feel free to neomail me.

The Power is from Within...
Iaz and her staff, which is she able to focus her powers on.

Profile
Profile showing the "royal hair-do", the main chunk of hair is pulled tight into a braid type bun, execpt strands which are left loose for decoration. No wonder Amayiaza hates it so.

Jumping out onto the outside ledge, she climbed down the wall, as she had done so many time before when she was young.
This was a bit rushed, but I tried to draw the essence of rain as best I could.

Are you Fallowing?
Hmm bad title. Anyways, I really like how this turned out, =3.

All Frilled Up
Did this during gym class...lying on the floor, because there is a lack of desks. Anyways, Amayiaza in a bunch of frilly girly cloths. I don't think she likes them.

Traditona lized
Got out my crayons and markers! Loved how this turned out, though its a tab messy.

If you don't be quite, I'll knock you out!
Umm, odd title o.O She will get her staff out. Anyways, the anatomy is messed up on this piece. Eh.

The Light Award

I decided with the different elementals, there shall come the different awards.
They will be easier to get than the paw print award, but they won't be to easily awarded.

The four different awards will focus on the different parts of a pet page...

The Light Award; Looks at the overall look of the layout and art of the character. Is there plenty of art of your character? Or only one piece? Can you easily move around in the layout? Pleasant to the eye?
The Water Award; Looks at a character's story. Dose it help describe and build up the character's personality? Is it well written? Original?
The Earth Award; Looks into the overall text of the page. Is it entertaining? Keeps you reading? Enjoyable, with little typos even if the story is brief?
The Fire Award; Will be looking at adoptables, links and awards such as these. Are they neat, and organized?

It will be possible to receive all four awards, but it won't be easy. Though, you can only apply for one every two weeks.
I can direct you to another award you would be more willing to receive, and also, I give suggestions to improve. I've had my head bitten off an gnawed on before for giving helpful suggestions, so it's just a warning.

The rules are pretty simple, put the type of award your applying for such as "The Light Award" as the title of your neomail, neomailing my main account, Fleana93.
Anyone can apply, at any time, and I will never be closed to applications.

The awards;

At the moment, you can also apply for the other three awards. Earth is the only one that is not up on Floresta's petpage, due to linking issues seeing as he has not been adopted yet. But if you qualify, you will get the award ^^

So we part our ways now...

Light…the thing that keeps the world warm; revives the forgotten and heals our wounds. An element overlooked…aw, psh this. Who actually reads my petpages? If you do, neomail, I'd love to know if someone dose (you get a free cookie). So, Iaz stood there, her hair wavering in the wind, light shining through it and she walks up to you, hits you over the head with her heavy staff, steals your pocket changes and runs away. Oh yeah, she set your cloths on fire too. Handy how hot fire can get…or isn't that Sioa's job? Idk my bff jill. Anyways, just go to Zakirrianua's page. Kthnxby.
