written sometime in december
The day I started living was the day I died.
I had drempt it first. The night was cold, and I was shivering so much that my mother had to come in to rock me back to sleep. I was just a puppy then. I had yellow fur, and eyes, and I was barely teething. I remember my mother, she looked at me in that dream with so much love in her eyes it still makes me spill over with tears.Just as she was about to leave the room, a minci walked in, trailed closely by my father, who , at the door stopped and peeked through the crack. The minci advanced on the crib, slowly pulling a knife out of its scabbard attached to the side of his belt. My mother, seeing the glint of metal, ran to the crib and grabbed me by the scruff. She let out a low growl as the minci, after me, turned twars her and started advanceing in small steaps.
At this point, my mother knew our fate, and she let out a howl of sorrow, cut off by the yelp of her death. Thinking I had gotten crushed by my mothers weight, the minci left the room,and my father's eyes stopped peeking through the crack of the door.
I heard the scuffle of paws, as the two walked down the stairs, and the wooden front door creak open. Naturally, being a puppy, I crawled out from under my mother,and started licking her nose, erging her to wake up. When she diden't, i curled up next to her, and fell asleep.The next day when I wake up, my mother is still there, but having the memory of an ant, I had forgotten the last nights events. I trodded down the stairs into the kitchen, expecting breckfast. What i got was a deranged gasp, and then total darkness.
The next thing I remember was a pain. My eyes were burning, and my lungs were filling with water. I was drowning. The water pressure was so intense, I coulden't move, let alone swim. Some time after that, a pair of fisherman did find the bones of a small lupe pup in the bottom of a lake near my old woodland house. I opened my eyes. A minci walks into the room...
Some say the second life is not so good as the first...
As I had been drowned to death, My soul was bound to the earth.The strange thing was, As a ghost, I could only go places that I had been while living. That means I was confined to my house, the woods surounding, and the lake.
If I tried to go anywhere else, I had to relive my death. The pain sort of...builds up after a while, and its like woah!, because that kind of pain for a puppy can be killer. So one day I'm walking along the boundry of where I was "alloud" to be, and I hear this shrill shreak, that sounds sounds like a bird trying to sing while being strangled to death. I, not caring about nature so much yet, do nothing. But then I hear it again. And again. By now I'm thinking Why does this bird have to have such an ANNOYING song!!!?? So I finally decide to go and see exactly what kind of bird it is. As it turns out its a mockingbird, and as I get close, It stops singing and goes Ahh, I see one who has been annoyed. Would you like to relive your life? As a puppy, I am not sure what to say, no not knowing what I was doing I said yes...
