Who am I? Why, I am one of the Knights of Meridell! I bid of you, sit down, traveler, so that I may share with you my story.
I was born Y17. Alas, I am not an old knight, and yet I have experienced much already. Believe it or not, I was not born in Meridell. No, I was born a simple farmer, on the outskirts of Altador. I was never a good farmer. My family could grow even the most difficult of crops, while I forgot to water even the most basic shrub.
I had always dreamed of bigger things, and so as soon as I was old enough, I headed to the Altadorian Archives, where I worked as an archivist's apprentice. It was an interesting life, for a while, but I soon grew bored with it. I was spending so much time with my nose stuck in dusty old books, I was hardly getting any life experience . . . and how young I was still! So, I abandoned my apprenticeship and decided to leave Altador once and for all.
I first came to Brightvale, wondering whether the knowledge I'd obtained at the archives might be of some use. But I soon found that my own wit was nothing compared to King Hagan's. But the King is a kind old Neopet, and suggested I try my luck at visiting his brother in Meridell. He was even so kind as to write a brief letter to his brother, recommending me to his services.
And that is how I cam to serve as a Meridellian Knight. King Skarl is not quite so wise as his brother, and far less agreeable . . . oh, don't tell him I said that! I wouldn't want to lose my position. *nervous chuckle* The King is a most excellent Neopet, and always concerned for the welfare of his people, despite his . . . errr . . . disposition.
Since then, my life as a knight has been far less gallant than one might expect. It's mostly just making sure the Turdle racing doesn't get out of hand, and occasionally daring my comrades to kiss a Mortog or two. Every now and then we have to stop some pesky petpets from poking Turmaculus with a stick. WHY are they so insistent on trying to wake him up? Let him get his rest, for goodness sake.
Of course, Darigan Citadel is still looming in the distance. Still not sure whether we trust them, though there has been a truce between Meridell and the Citadel for a while now . . . I suppose that's what they keep us knights around for. We must be prepared for anything.
Ah, but I say too much. After all, a truce is a truce. It is not my place to question it. And there is so much still to do every day, from practicing my fencing skills with my fellow knights to the occasional game of bulls-eye. I've . . . ahem . . . never been a very good archer. Maybe I'm due for some practice . . .
I am certain there are more adventures yet to be had. I have not been a knight long. But I hope soon to find the opportunity to earn all the honor and glory that comes with the title. My owner helps keep me on the right track. Lately she's been working on saving for my training, so that I can be ready to fight when the time comes!
Arg, look at the time! How long I've been rambling at you! Apologies, weary traveler, please pay me no mind. Continue on your way, and feel safe knowing that the good knights of Meridell will be watching over these lands.
