The Ultimate Guide to Becoming the Ultimate Faerie Fanatic

by dancing_queen_1200

FAERIELAND - The reason I had decided to write this article about Faeries is because: 1. They're one of my favourite parts about Neopia/Neopets, and 2. Many Neopians and their pets think they know EVERYTHING about Faeries, but they might be just Faerie-Fanatics (FF-as I like to call it) wannabes! So, this article is to show you how to become THE ULTIMATE FF! But, in order to become the ultimate FF, you must know certain pieces of information, and do certain things, but I will be nice and tell you what they are ;)

Visit Faerieland Every Day

Yes, you MUST visit Faerieland every day, and not just for the Wheel of Excitement and the Healing Springs. Oh no! There is so much more to Faerieland than those two things. Bet on your favourite Poogle (that is, if you have one -- which you should!), play a couple of Faerie-based games, like the Colouring Game or the Faerie Crossword, check out all the shops, and if you're lucky enough to catch them when they're restocked, buy something. For the up and coming Neoschools, I suggest you buy all Faerie Backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, and lunchboxes! That way, everybody will know how much you love Faeries of any kind! You can have a theme, or buy the ones that you like best! Give your pets ONLY Faerie Petpets, or, even better, Petpets painted Faerie! Try to feed them as much Faerie food as possible, to get the Faerie-ness into their systems. Read them Faerie books, to educate them all about the wonder of Faeries, before Neoschools come and teach you useless things like math. (Honestly, who CARES how many Everlasting Apples you have left if you take 2 away from 5? People would rather answer this equation: How much less evil there will be when Neopia - Jhudora?)

And that's just OUTSIDE of Faerie City. Inside, oh, there is so much more to do! There's MORE shops and MORE games! There's Faerie Quests, too! Here, you try to get a job at the Employment Agency, to earn Neopoints. You can go the Faerie Paint Brushes section and sigh wistfully at the pets that you would love to paint Faerie but you don't have enough Neopoints to do so. Of course, if you can afford it, paint them Faerie! There's no better colour! And, if you know where the Hidden Tower is, you can sigh even more wistfully at the Baby Paint Brush, Battledome items, and other super-rare things that you would also love to have but, AGAIN, you don't have the Neopoints to get. I know you might say BUT I HAVE TO HAVE THE RAINBOW SWIRLY THING! IT'S JUST SO SWIRLY! but you must use your self-control and willpower that I know you've been building up since you discovered where the Hidden Tower is. Stealing the items will not put you in Fyora's good books and your status as the ultimate Faerie Fanatic will range more on the fanatical side.

Know Just About Everything About Each of the Faeries

A great way to do this is to do a search on Faeries in the help section, read Neopedia Articles, and even go to different Neopets help sites and read up on the things that other people know about Faeries. You should also know what Faeries ask for on Faerie Quests, and what they give to you in return (this is a great tip for Battledomers). Some Faeries live very far from Faerieland, like Taelia, The Soup Faerie, Illusen, Jhuidah, and the Negg Faerie. Try to visit them frequently and learn more about them!

Know Your Favourite Faerie/Element

You must know which Faerie is your favourite! Maybe it is a famous Faerie like Fyora, Illusen, Jhudora, Jhuidah, or the Grey Faerie, or it could be just a certain element that you like, for example Air, Water, Earth, Light, Fire, or Dark. My element is Air (if you have seen my user-lookup, you would know what I mean). Nevertheless, you can find your element by taking various element tests at different quiz sites, or just by picking which one you like the best! It had taken me a while to find my element through the magic of online quizzes, but I had come out successful! (Or flown out, if you excuse the joke: ) Huh? What do you mean you don't get it?! *sigh* I suppose I will have to explain it to your mind. Well, you see, since my element is air, and Faeries fly in the air, I had used the term flown! Well, there, that's better now, isn't it? I'm sorry for being so verbally violent! Hehe.)

Are/Have Been/Are Planning to Questing/Quest for Illusen/Jhudora

Yes, yes, I know Illusen lives in Meridell, but she is still a Faerie just as much Jhudora is! She only moved to Meridell because "it's so peaceful and serene (and I get to be as far away from those Dark Faeries as possible!)" as she puts it. Anyway, to quest for Illusen or Jhudora, you should have the Neopoints to be able to complete the quests, as I have heard they are expensive. They will eventually ask for unbuyable items! I am the third option in the subtitle above (are planning to quest) and I want to quest for Illusen. But, as I said before, I'm not rich (*cough* hint hint *coughs again*) as much as I would like to be, so I can't quest for her right now, at this very moment. But enough about me, questing for Illusen/Jhudora would be a great FF hobby if you're bored. I'd recommend Illusen: I've heard she gives better prizes and, after all, Jhudora is a Dark Faerie! I wouldn't trust her!

Show Your Dedication to Faeries On the Neoboards

When you know that you're ready, you must show other Neopians that you're a true FF. Different ways to do this are:

Avatar- whether it's an avatar like the Neopets Team gives you (Air Faerie, Water Faerie, Fire Faerie, or Dark Faerie) or a secret avatar (Illusen, Jhudora, Grey Faerie, Wheel of Excitement, Soup Faerie, Space Faerie, "Free Jhuidah", etc.) A picture is worth a thousand words-so you don't have to explain your addiction to faeries; your avatar will do it for you!

Title- examples of Faerie-related titles are: "Quester for Illusen", "Quester for Jhudora", "Hidden Tower Hunter", "Floating Faerie", "Dark Faerie", "Faerie Queen", "Illusen or Jhudora?", "No Soup For You!", and "Official Soup Taster". All of these are also great ways to show your appreciation for Faeries!

Signature (Siggy)- obviously, your signature must mention Faeries on some way shape or form. You could even advertise your Faerie guild! (Which, I'm sure all FF belong to some type of Faerie guild!)

So, by the time you make one measly little post on the message boards, every Neopian will know you're addicted to Faeries!

Extra! Extra!

And it doesn't end there! If you really want to call yourself the ULTIMATE FF, you have to go above and beyond what is needed! Of course, you should buy your Neohome in Faerieland. And I'm sure that it won't be long until there's some beautiful Faerie furniture for you to buy.

Try dressing as a Faerie for some more fun, especially on Halloween! Some costumes are quite "revealing," so this course is not recommended for people living in Terror Mountain : ) Fake Faerie wings are all the rage right now. As a precaution, painting yourself with a Faerie Paint Brush (or the closest you can get: a paint brush with mini wings attached), as I discovered, does not give you wings and change you to pastel colors, but does give you a painful rash for a few weeks. So stick to the fake Faerie wings.

Always try to follow Faeries around, to learn how they live. I personally enjoy hiding in bushes outside their clouds to observe them more closely. This does seem to scare them a little, but my ear-to-ear grin and explanation of "I'm a Faerie Fanatic!" seems to put them at slight ease. Well, until they call the Chia police to take me away when I get a little to close and start videotaping their every move (it's for research purposes of course!). *cough*

Well, there you have it, the complete guide to becoming THE ULTIMATE Faerie Fanatic!

Author' s note: I would love feedback on this article. This is my first article/submission to The Neopian Times, and it will most likely not be that last. Please Neomail your comments to dancing_queen_1200. Thank you!
