Contact Form: Passwords

Please read the following information about passwords before you e-mail us. Your question can most likely be answered here, and you won't have to wait for a response from us.

Someone Asked For My Password, What Should I Do?:
This is always a scam and someone is trying to steal your account. NEVER give your password to ANYONE! Neopets staff members will not ask you for your password, and we will NEVER e-mail, instant message, or NeoMail you to get your password. If someone has asked for your password, report them using the Abuse-Reporting form.

How to Change Your Password:
You can change (or check) your information by logging in to Neopets.com, then clicking on "Help" on the yellow sidebar. Go to "Change User Information", and you can change, add, or remove any information you want. Please make sure you remember to put in your old password! You must have your old password to change ANY information. When you are choosing a new password, do not choose one that is easy to guess, such as password, neopets, 12345, or your username. Use both numbers AND letters to make it more difficult. Be sure you choose something you can remember, or write it down and keep it in a safe place.

Lost or Stolen Passwords:
Please use the "Lost Password" box on the login page. Due to problems with people trying to claim other user's accounts, it is our policy to NOT return "lost" or change "stolen" passwords. We sincerely apologize for this, as we know it creates an inconvenience for some of our players. If you believe someone else is in your account, or if the "Lost Password" box does not seem to be working, please use the Abuse-Account Access form to request help.

Login Problems:
Please check that you are using your correct username and password when you try to log in. If you are unsure what this is simply click on "Log In" (in the yellow side bar) and enter your username in the "Lost Your Password" box. Your username and password will now be e-mailed to you.

If, after receiving confirmation of your password, you still cannot login, there are a few other things to take into consideration. Copying and pasting the information from the e-mail can create spaces before and/or after the password, which will cause the system to reject it. If you are typing it in directly, be sure you have the most updated version of your browser installed. Older versions may cause conflicts when logging in. If none of this has helped, check the settings of your computer's clock and calendar. The system is time sensitive and if your date and time is incorrect the system will not give you access to your account.
